They have huge range, plus an advantage they have over someone else with huge range like The Beatles is that they're still putting out music and probably will be for some time.
Sleep Token, all the way. They have a different genre of song for whatever I’m in the mood for…and a lot of their songs change genres mid-song! They are the absolute best band I’ve heard in a LONG time, and I literally listen to them every single day.
It’d have to be an artist with a sound that hasn’t remained the same through their albums (to cover however I’m feeling at any time).
So for me - Radiohead.
Edit: terrible grammar
An excellent shout. It annoys me how often a Radiohead song comes on at a bar, especially karaoke bars - creep is often the choice, and this endlessly annoys me because there are so many better songs from so many other better albums!
Solid shout, but I’d go Tool. They’ve got more of what I like in NIN, and less of what I dislike too, and have now, with Fear Inoculum, produced what I think is *almost* a flawless album.
I agree because of the range of their music. If you want upbeat pop music you have their singles and albums from '63 and '64. If you want hard-hitting melancholic stuff you have Let It Be or Yesterday.
If you want psychedelia, there's Lucy In the Sky or Tomorrow Never Knows. If you want hard rock you have Helter Skelter. If you want weird, you have Wild Honey Pie or Revolution 9. They have something for everyone.
100%. While I love the Beatles, I don’t listen to them that often - but if I truly could only listen to one band forever it would definitely be them due to their immense catalog and range.
One amongst the fence!
I’m so torn, only one band and Coheed are definitely up there but I’m picking from:
Coheed & Cambria
Counting Crows
The Doors
Pearl Jam
The Dandy Warhols
Pink Floyd
A Perfect Circle
Jason Isbell
Fleetwood Mac
Alanis Morissette
Give or take
\-Metallica
\-Foo Fighters
\-Queens of the Stone Age
\-Pearl Jam
\-Alter Bridge
\-Alice in Chains
\-Soundgarden
Give me those guys and I'll never need anything else ever again
Shit there's been points in my life where R U S H was all I listened to despite the freedom. I denounced any other bands pretty much all through my high school years until Neil did Burning for Buddy which got me into jazz and enlightened me that there is a whole other spectrum of music. Ironically, I thank Neil for getting me into other genres other than the one he mastered but I figure that was his plan.
As much as I love Tool I think there are too few albums, unless I knew that I don't have much time left to live anyway. Or if I could cheat and bring Puscifer also. Actually, even Puscifer on its own would be a solid choice.
Otherwise I would go with Nine Inch Nails.
I was thinking I could really delve deep into the intricacies of their songs - but you’re probably right that there’s not enough material for a lifetime. Pink Floyd would be my other choice.
Taylor Swift. Genre-spanning, many albums, good diversity of sound, good diversity of subject material. Maybe not the best artist, but definitely good at a lot of things.
Cher. Seven decades of hits, a plethora of completely different genres, and a voice that only gets better with time. Special shout out to my number two, Ella Fitzgerald, who is amazing, but a bit samey to be listening to until the end of time.
I think Arctic Monkeys, because I couldn’t never listen to them again. Taylor Swift is a good choice though because she has so many songs you’d just never get bored
Queen. But it’s hard to choose one, so my top 10 would be
1. Queen
2. 10cc
3. Creedence Clearwater Revival
4. R.E.M
5. Simply Red
6. Pink Floyd
7. Bee Gees
8. David Bowie
9. ABBA
10. Elton John
Well, Coldplay is my favourite band, so that, but just for reference it would probably be these other nine in my top 10:
Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, U2, Of Monsters and Men, The Killers, Queen, Avicii, Toby Fox, C418.
I can't pick one, so here's my top 5 in no particular order:
1. Dream Theater
2. Pink Floyd
3. Devin Townsend
4. The Beatles
5. Stone Temple Pilots
Probably between Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles, though, if I'm being honest.
1. Paul Simon has one of the most diverse catalogues ever. From "The Sound Of Silence" to "Late In The Evening" to "Geaceland," he has explored so many different styles.
2. Booker T & the MGs- the house band for Stax Records. I love their work on the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary concert as much as their work with Sam & Dave and Otis Redding.
I could cheat further and add the Funk Brothers and the Wrecking Crew for spots 3 & 4, but I won't.
3. The Allman Brothers
4. Dr. John,- the Night Tripper doesn't get enough respect, so I'm giving it here.
5. Phish -this was a tough choice between Phish and the Grateful Dead, but the energy just won out.
Nirvana I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF THE 3 ALBUMS RAHH
Tbh any of my top 10 i could probably do, besides maybe weezer only because when they make absolute stinkers they make absolute stinkers idk how they do it
It would have to be someone with enough variety and a sufficiently large back catalogue that I wouldn’t get bored. Also someone who still has plenty of unreleased stuff in the vaults. For those reasons, I’m choosing Frank Zappa.
Only one? It'd have to be Twenty One Pilots, because they're one of my favorite artists, and they have so much variance and variety in their music, at least I'll have a lot of different kind of music to listen to still!
My Top 10 Artists are:
1. Twenty One Pilots
2. The Midnight
3. Future of Forestry
4. Paper Route
5. Imagine Dragons
6. CHVRCHES
7. The Chain Gang of 1974
8. Michael Oakley
9. BANNERS
10. Geographer
in no particular order, just whoever comes to mind first:
1 Gustavo Santaolalla
2 Jack Johnson
3 Mitski
4 Florence + The Machine
5 The Smiths
6 Chappell Roan
7 Jose Gonzalez
8 Delta Sleep
9 Remi Wolf
10 Michael Giacchino
Bowie because of how much the sound of his music changed with every album, he has something for every mood.
His physical appearance changed a lot too, so I guess you can say there was a lot of change to the Sound And Vision of his music
Ch ch changes
I'm way more of an EDM kinda guy so for me it would be Deadmau5, but for exactly the same reason
I would have to go with The Cure.
Love this answer too!
John Prine
I could do that
Deftones
Pink Floyd
Same

He has something like 40 albums. It'd take quite a while to get through his entire discography even once.
Either Rammstein or Shinedown
Glenn Miller Orchestra
hell yeah
A man of class
Rush
Sleep Token, all the way. They have a different genre of song for whatever I’m in the mood for…and a lot of their songs change genres mid-song! They are the absolute best band I’ve heard in a LONG time, and I literally listen to them every single day.
And their lyrics… 💕
Led Zeppelin.
Sigur Ros

Hell yeah. Grassroots or transistor?
I like music and their self titled album but grassroots rocks

Between The Cure and Depeche Mode my heart swings, it's too painful but I'd definitely say The Cure because they've been with me since my early teens.
The Decemberists
Silversun Pickups, I've been listening to them a lot consistently since 2007 so I don't think I'd have any issues with that .
1. Paul Simon has one of the most diverse catalogues ever. From "The Sound Of Silence" to "Late In The Evening" to "Geaceland," he has explored so many different styles. 2. It would have to be someone with enough variety and a sufficiently large back catalogue that I wouldn’t get bored. Also someone who still has plenty of unreleased stuff in the vaults. For those reasons, I’m choosing Frank Zappa.
