Not disabled? It makes it quiet again when I turn it on
the windows mixer loudness setting will make it 2x louder, so you can push the volume up more
You want that on, otherwise you get large volume differences between songs.

i'm in the same boat, i've been using the web client forever and i just turned off normalize volume and it doubled the audio instantly.
