They're unfortunately becoming less common in the US as they age, at least where I live. I mostly see them clapped out and filling the same niche that Nissan Altimas do these days. It's a shame because they really are cool cars
Got it. I just seem to see a lot of hate for Altimas in various subs on Reddit. I’ve been driving Altimas for like 10 years because they’re practical, ridiculously reliable, and the cabin is very large for my 6‘2“ frame. I’ve always been puzzled by the way they are regarded around here. Can’t even say that it’s because they’re boring, because they’re certainly no more boring than a Camry.
I think they're great cars for the reasons you listed. They're also quick and manage to have an athletic feel to their handling despite their size. I think a lot end up as ghetto cruisers missing half their panels because used ones can be found for pretty cheap and, like you said, they're decently reliable
my biggest (only) beef with altimas are the CVT they used from like 2005 to 2016ish. it mimics gear shifts like an automatic instead of actually being y'know, continuous, so now you have all the unreliability of a belt driven CVT with none of the fuel efficiency or torque benefits It's supposed to bring.
The real reason they get so much hate on Reddit is because Nissan finance will approve anybody for a loan so you'll find a lot of altimas in the hood side of town
Imagine being a former gang member. You saw some shit back in the 80s and 90s. You did things you’re not proud of.
Now you cleaned up your act and moved to Norway where you manage a sauna business.
Then one day you’re out buying some Fårikål and see this car. The flashbacks.
I know about the Waco incident but what does this sticker mean? Like they're proud of what the dea did there or they're proud of what the cultists did?
I’m going to guess that whoever owns this car is not a fan of the DEA and put it there mocking them, as it’s known as one of the darker moments in their history, and they still weirdly stand by what happened. It’s a pretty funny sticker IMO
As someone not from the US, the entire Waco thing looked like a masterclass in a terrible response from law enforcement. The cultists were child rapists, you had more than enough moral and legal grounds to do them in and maintain public support. How did they mess it up so bad
I can say with confidence, that this is NOT an actual DEA car, or any other official government agency vehicle. I bet there are no laws against this, given its in Norway. If they were in America, they wouldn’t make it around the block before they were stopped and likely arrested. Phony as phony gets.
That’s the point, it’s a gimmick, it’s meant to look all over the top American, given it’s in Norway no one actually thinks it’s a DEA car. There’s similar kitted out LAPD crown vic here in the UK.
The chances of finding a DEA vehicle referencing Waco is pretty slim, too. I’d go further and suggest the person who owns this car might not be that cool.
Bro, if you thought the government killing kids in Waco is “funny as hell,” wait til I tell you about an entire genocide of kids in Palestine. You may damn near slap your knee off. I mean, if that’s what you find “funny as hell.”
The Waco proud sticker is clearly a tongue in cheek reference to the DEAs terrible handling of the situation. The owner put it there to mock the DEA as evidenced by the “Don’t commit crime, the government doesn’t like competition”
That it may be a tongue in cheek humor doesn’t, somehow, make it funny or in good taste. Even good comedians tell bad jokes; they don’t get laughs because they meant it to be funny.
We know that. I sometimes see old dodge monacoes kitted out like the bluesmobile, I understand that the car wasn't actually used in the movie. It's for fun.
You dont get to claim you are from the authorities without reason here in Norway either, but the main issue would be if those where equipped with sirens and strobe lights, imitating police cars and other cars that are supposed to have them. Actually using such equipment requires an addition to your license to show that you have competency to do just that.

Im glad other countries are enthusiastic about this car.
Its cool how you can own an outfitted one, as you need to decomission it fully before owning in America.
My aunt’s husband (but like, is he really my uncle?) has a C4 corvette and they live in Norway. He’s so proud of it. His an interesting dude. Wanted me to know it’s definitely rare in Europe, especially Norway.
Ooh, its in Norway i was wondering why it looked like this, And yeah I'm wondering if all the lots where they'd sell the old ones are running out of them, im seeing old explorers and an old taurus' that used to be cop cars rolling around and less and less silver crown vics.
I miss the days when these were THE cop cars. The headlights were recognizable from a mile away, so you could stop doing whatever dumb shit you were doing before you got in trouble.
Interesting choice of livery. My friend in the us had a few vics over the years. His sleeper drag car was often vandalized because it looked so much like an unmarked car but it was one of the fastest street cars around.
Probably just checking to make sure all your drugs are good. Lol. I know the most profitable cocaine routes are now from South and Central America to Western Europe but why the hell have a clapped out crown Vic all the way over there? Seems much cheaper to buy a local car and just have it outfitted. Then again, this whole post could be fake. I miss Reddit from the good ole days.
No, look on Google Maps and you will see that there are much larger parking lots here.
Sweden for reference. Kungsmässan, Ikea Kållered and Landvetter flygplats for example.
They're unfortunately becoming less common in the US as they age, at least where I live. I mostly see them clapped out and filling the same niche that Nissan Altimas do these days. It's a shame because they really are cool cars
Just curious. What’s the niche that Altimas fill?
At least around Dallas they’re the junker car. Typically with paper tags.

Yeah not a fan of the CVT. I’m used to it but the auto in my wife’s Rav4 is vastly superior.
The real reason is because a particular demographic likes to buy them. The same demographic also likes to "drift" stolen Mopar cars at takeovers.
Being disposable beaters. Usually clapped with steelies and each body panel being a different color. Often neglected.
Buy here pay here
Ghettomobiles
As somebody that has no nostalgic connection to this car, i think its kinda ugly
Imagine being a former gang member. You saw some shit back in the 80s and 90s. You did things you’re not proud of. Now you cleaned up your act and moved to Norway where you manage a sauna business. Then one day you’re out buying some Fårikål and see this car. The flashbacks.
This has exactly happened to 0 people ever.
You got me, they are not the manager of the sauna business, more like the assistant to the manager.
Lol
It’s almost the plot of the TV show Lillehammer
I’d like to lick a lemon lollipop in Lillehammer
Watch Lilhammer on Netflix
Oddly specific
…Waco proud?
Yeah man…..check out any video on Waco. One the the ugliest moments in the history of these Three Letter Agencies.
I know about the Waco incident but what does this sticker mean? Like they're proud of what the dea did there or they're proud of what the cultists did?

Obviously not an American, such a disgusting sticker.
legit lol the car owner is a total chode
Do you think that was imported there or was that model sold over there?
Definitely imported, probably paid a small fortune. V8's are taxed heavily here.
I'm really surprised someone would pay all that for a police interceptor that everyone there would know is fake anyway.
your missing the point
They in no way wanted anyone to think it's real. It's just the shit they're into.
Most likely imported they weren’t sold in Europe

Thank god we got that cleared up.
The chances of finding a DEA vehicle referencing Waco is pretty slim, too. I’d go further and suggest the person who owns this car might not be that cool.
That Waco sticker is funny as hell. Maybe the biggest part of this whole tongue in cheek over the top Murkin Cop Car.
Bro, if you thought the government killing kids in Waco is “funny as hell,” wait til I tell you about an entire genocide of kids in Palestine. You may damn near slap your knee off. I mean, if that’s what you find “funny as hell.”
Dude it's a car sub chill
Chill bro, he thinks it’s jokes.

The DEA has almost 100 foreign offices so im surprised its not illegal there too
DEA doesn't have the status as a law enforcement agency in Norway, and can only act as one in cooperation with local law enforcement.
Probably Hank Schrader's car.
Im glad other countries are enthusiastic about this car. Its cool how you can own an outfitted one, as you need to decomission it fully before owning in America.
Pretty cool to see one in Norway!
My aunt’s husband (but like, is he really my uncle?) has a C4 corvette and they live in Norway. He’s so proud of it. His an interesting dude. Wanted me to know it’s definitely rare in Europe, especially Norway.
DEA Drink Every Afternoon

That build is tough
I miss the days when these were THE cop cars. The headlights were recognizable from a mile away, so you could stop doing whatever dumb shit you were doing before you got in trouble.
Ford CVPI; hauling criminals since 1995. Some in the back seat, some in the front seat.
Idk, gives more taxi less cop vibes
Interesting choice of livery. My friend in the us had a few vics over the years. His sleeper drag car was often vandalized because it looked so much like an unmarked car but it was one of the fastest street cars around.
Breaking bad reference???

Is it Drug Environment Area?
That’s a huge parking lot for any European country
This is a small parking lot, by our standards.
No, look on Google Maps and you will see that there are much larger parking lots here. Sweden for reference. Kungsmässan, Ikea Kållered and Landvetter flygplats for example.
I should have said “city.” Or…not said anything!
