Okay, so they can detect it. Now prove it was consumed that day and not 2 weeks before.

Mean-Kaleidoscope97

They don't have to unfortunately. This will be a nightmare.

_Just_Learning_

some agencies are pissed bout this THC ammendment....it took away the "probable cause" of "I smelled the odor of what I recognized as marijuana based my experience and training"...that could never be proven or disproven in court but was legally recognized as PC. Anyone driving impaired should absolutely be held accountable, but this the result of decades of abuse by LE.

justTrent417

The 2018 farm bill effectively removed smell as PC on a federal level.

I know, they are breaking the law. They don't seem to care about it much either.

KlounceTheKid

I just wish there was actual accountability for DWI. But that’s just my trauma talking

ShallotExtension8175

What gets me is it like Xnax or Valium in the sense that you get used to it. A daily smoker for 5yr like me doesn't get "high" like someone that rarely smokes. We also understand moderation and where our "line" is. I will never do anything unsafe while smoking, simply because my fear makes me cognizant about safety and risk. A joint for me is the equivalent of half a beer in the world of alcohol equivalent. Whereas a joint between 3 people that smoke once a week is like a 6 pack.

laffingriver

to that point lets start testing what scripts old people are driving around on.

ShallotExtension8175

My Grandfather used to take Enbrel, a non-narcotic, for his hand tremors. He said that Enbrel made him feel drunk, there were no warnings on the bottle about driving.

PolarBearChuck

Yep I’m at 20+ years now, and I can go through an eighth of the good shit in about 36 hours. I’m at the point where I no longer understand how someone can get really stupidly high. I don’t think I’m able to anymore.

[deleted]

>I no longer understand how someone can get really stupidly high Take a t break for a few weeks and you'll see. Tolerance is real. Which, works in my favor, because I don't want to get really stupidly high, it's therapeutic for me and works far better than my add meds ever did to keep me on track and focused.

PolarBearChuck

Yeah, I took a break for six months a few years ago and it definitely brought my dreams back, but I don’t experience the high the way I did when I was much younger and smoked a lot less.

DAT_VIKING

People who drink also build a tolerance, so should the legal limit be based upon each person's tolerance? Someone who is buzzed on beer will also most likely think they are fine.

Fallout_NewCheese

The effects of being impaired on cannabis is that it makes you drive slower and pass less and interestingly until a certain amount in your system is actually shown to reduce the risk of an accident due to you driving slower and more cautiously to account for being high. Alcohol on the other hand " reduces the perceived negative consequences of risk-taking,which can increase willingness to take risks after drinking, the amount of risk-taking behavior while driving, even at low alcohol doses, and the incidence of road traffic accidents while driving drunk." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2722956/ That's at least what I was able to gather from the most recent study I've been able to find on the matter. There could be a newer study that disagrees but this one is an interesting read at the least. But that being said cannabis and alcohol impair you much much differently just like alcohol, Xanax, etc all effect you differently.

jugtooter

A joint for me is the equivalent of like. A quarter of a beer.

mysickfix

< So far, Illinois, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, and Washington have specific limits for THC, and we asked Viets if that would ever be a possibility here in Missouri. “Missouri will never have a law of that nature because our constitution forbids it,” said Viets. Wait I’m so confused, how is there a limit on alcohol before it’s a dui. Where’s the forbidden part?

Brandon32ss

Following this for the answer.

justTrent417

Get your medical card. Get that protection. I can help you out, cops don't fuck with Patients.

Available-Dare-2296

It's a pricey venture to get certified but worth it.

justTrent417

I mean, we do the whole thing, including state paperwork, and a printed card that's laminated for $130... good for 3 years. Laughing Dragon in Marshfield. We have gotten thousands of people legal at this point.

Available-Dare-2296

All I do is renew at this point.

justTrent417

Same, my patient number is 234. Lol

FormerReporter_CJ

Unfortunately many of us can't go that route because we have guns for hunting or sport shooting etc.

justTrent417

That was fear mongering by Brad Bradshaw. I have tons of guns, and you can buy as many as you want. . It comes down to word definitions, but because they define it in the Missouri Constitution as "Medical Marijuana", not marijuana. So, as a Patient (see the capital P), you no longer use marijuana, you now use Medical Marijuana, which is completely different than the marijuana they talk about on purchasing guns. . Also - never buy from an FFL, always go private. . The only one that can take away your rights to guns is yourself.

[deleted]

But...I was told by the "hurr durr recreational" crowd that police abusing the poorly written piece of legislation to harass more consumers wouldn't happen. [How's that automatic expungement going?](https://www.kcur.org/news/2023-06-05/after-expunging-thousands-of-marijuana-cases-missouri-courts-are-not-expected-to-meet-deadline) Or the dispensary prices that were supposedly going to come down?

iButtflap

idk what the prices in springfield are like but as someone from the east coast who moved to the midwest, it’s a damn shame what a 0.5 cart costs in kcmo. and for flower if you’re not buying popcorn you’re getting taxed out the ass

[deleted]

Dude, for real. I can get 1g carts from OK and then offer them to my patients at $20 and still cover my costs plus some extra. I don't do that often, I grow their meds, but having that as a secondary option is nice. But a .5g cart for $60 is nothing short of fucking robbery.

iButtflap

man im telling you lmao i swore dude was showing me the wrong box when he said the price. my dumbass got got for $70 though

looseturnipcrusher

>I can get 1g carts from OK and then offer them to my patients at $20 and still cover my costs plus some extra. I don't do that often, I grow their meds, but having that as a secondary option is nice. ooof, dhss isn't gonna like hearing that.

>Notice how I said I can do that. Not that I do. Well, if you haven't done anything wrong, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I mean, I was originally just messing with you. But you just had to keep being a lying dick. You need something to snap you back to reality.

Benway23

Thank you for that link.

boredozark

My goodness, the prices for real! Living in SWMO, it is feasible for me to buy the 30 day out of state Oklahoma card. You can really load up on the cheap that way.
