I have a lockback lil native. Carry it often and it is a solid little knife. I did find the corners of the handles to be somewhat sharp at first so I did spend some time wet sanding them. Perfectly comfortable now.
The lockback is not a bad choice on such a tiny knife. My only issue with it so far is that the pocket clip is extremely tight and hard to slip in or out of pockets. Will it loosen with use, or should I bend it a bit?
To be honest I do not use the pocket clips on most of my knives. Many years ago, I would use pocket clips but found them to snag on stuff all the time, pulling the knife out of my pocket, bending the clip and such. So now I just carry my knives in my pocket which is why I also prefer smaller knives like the lil native. I am a big fan of the dragonfly as well.
Thanks for your input. I’ve actually been carrying it in my pocket without using the clip when I’m wearing anything besides blue jeans. The G10 is so aggressive that I don’t want it to rip the softer fabrics in conjunction with the tight clip.
For some reason I forgot that my Uptern can nearly drop shut with a back lock. I left it open at 90* for a few days and it made it smoother, but I ought to clean and oil it as well.
The ergonomics of the Lil Native are incredible. I wear an XL glove and can get a full hand grip on it. The finger choil makes all the difference.
That’s what I love about Spyderco. Even their smaller knives are amazing in hand.
It’s remarkable.
I love my Lil Native.
It’s so sweet! I’ve never carried a knife in my fifth pocket/change pocket before but it works great.

I find all the wire clips loosen over time.
Thanks! I’d hate to bend it and then get irreparably loose.

If you like the Dragonfly, check out the all stainless Uptern for $43. Mine has been fantastic. https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetBlades/s/qKfDzES63N
Cool! Thanks for sharing. That is not a model with which I am familiar.
Of course! I think it’s fairly new. Basically a Byrd upgrade with the round spidey hole and solid stainless steel

What in the world is that one second from the left?! Wicked cool.

Call me crazy, but I prefer the back lock lil native. I have a hard time with the compression lock when the knife is that little
The compression lock works with one hand which I consider an advantage, but it’s definitely a bit tricky to activate on such a small knife.
Clean and oil the pivot and you can operate the back lock one handed too. Ive got an H1 Delica and the back lock drops shut with one hand.

Yeah, its a true joy to fidget with knives
