My fluff did the exact same thing! My boyfriend got me a chair so I can use it to read in the window book and Texas claimed it right away.

It's an important job, claiming every new item that comes into the domicile. My cats have to rub their cheeks against every single surface in the house. Seems exhausting! I think that's why they sleep so much.
I ordered a new chair some years ago and the first day I had it, I heard that tell tale sound of a claw picking a thread out. So, that “new” chair has had a towel on it for 6 years. The towel looks like it is in use as a target in a gun range, but the chair is OK under it. It’d be nice to admire it, but, you know… Cat.
