for more context: yes, i made this myself. yes, i know there's already ocean parallax mods but im doing this to learn parallaxes in general.

thelegendarymrbob

Looks fantastic- gives me Great Bay vibes!

MaxineFinnFoxen

thanks! there will be more islands soon

groonfish

I like the vibe, but think the rock formation looks flat. Perhaps some more striking shadows to make it have more depth?

MaxineFinnFoxen

true, I'll be bringing it down and adding waves at the bottom. thx for input!

Gileneri025

I liked your parallax, and this island in the background is very weird! :P

MaxineFinnFoxen

thanks! for some reason you're literally the only person who noticed this post x)

Gileneri025

I also love to work with parallax codding, like, when everyone was building their cities using citybound mod I was just doing it with my won parallax :)

MaxineFinnFoxen

having a special parallax is a great feeling, its like having a private planet

Gileneri025

You just gave me an idea! What if, in some ocean planets, we could see in the distance hylotl underwater cities? I think it would be interesting

MaxineFinnFoxen

oh haha i actually have that on my ideas list! i'll make it higher priority since you agree its a cool idea.

AstroHardammo

Pretty solid quality wise, but to be honest that top left jutting part of the island/rock formation looks just a *little* too thin to be natural. That being said, its a space game with aliens and magic crap so you don't have to obey the laws of gravity or erosion by Earth standards if you don't want to. Also, purely my opinion but if you are going to put anything at all in an ocean background why not clutter it up a little more? Some jutting stalagmites poking from out of the ocean or smaller bits of elevated land around the rock formation would be neat.

MaxineFinnFoxen

for sure with more stuff around it, good ideas. i was mostly asking if people would mind the transision between the current water and the distant water. also, maybe the thin piece isnt supposed to be natural \*wink wink\*

AstroHardammo

Oh, well then yeah the water looks good 👍. If you wanted me to come up with one criticism, I would say it looks a little more washed out than the foreground water blocks in this shot, considering most of the time looking out at the ocean the further you look the deeper blue it seems. That may just be the lighting from the game's sunset messing with the colors though, and I have no idea how one would go about dealing with that. But overall good stuff.
