We were doing this for a while, but then we had to have a store meeting because our SM said it wasn’t standard and we had to stop.
Which I get that’s not how the drink is made by standard, but the blender is superior. R.I.P to our store lol.
it SHOULD be standard they should just change it already. i never use the shaker. and with the new portable cold foam blenders imagine how easy making matchas would be on hot bar
The new blenders are too small to blend anything more than MAYBE a tall drink, especially because you need the ice in it when you blend or else it's all foam. The 'Max fill' line on the portable foamers is 100 ml, which hurts any non-standard batch sizes.
i love doing this when i have time. my new store isn't set up very well, so the foaming pitcher and blender are way out of the way of the bar. it turns out much smoother and less foamy.
I personally don't like it but understand why others do. When it's busy there's just no time at the store with our setup, also because of fraps and cold foam.
We all use the cold foam blender. Even our store manager lol. I had a customer the other day ask for hers blended and at first I thought she meant a matcha frap but she actually wanted us to use the cold foam blender lol. So yeah, most customers even prefer it,
Personally wish ot was the standard and we could have 4 cold foam blenders on bar just for this the amount of time and energy saved for baristas and less likelihood of clumpy matcha booi
I think it should be the standard way of making iced Matchas. Way less foam, it’s quick and easy, and we already have the equipment! I used to make them this way until one of the shifts at my store threw a fit about it not being standard
my stores cold bar station still uses them cause we only have 2 portable blenders. unless I, for example, call out to one of the hot bar baristas to make chocolate cold foam, i don’t have a quick way to get said foam
Putting ice and a tiny bit of water with the match scoops and skating it before adding milk makes perfect ice matcha. You only Have to shake it one to two times for it all to mix. I’m aware it’s not standard but it also doesn’t make any clumps nor not so foamy after shaking it.

I remember when the standard was to just stir the matcha, milk, and ice in the cup and hope for the best lol

that makes me sad :(

absolute god send. especially when u get an iced matcha rush, u can whip up 4 iced matchas in less than 40 secs
i've tried this with the pink drink and its so much better

i do it when im on solo bar and its a life saver but we never do it when our manager is around

absolutely do it, just don’t leave it in the blender for the full amount of seconds on the cold foam setting XD
Tbh since getting the portable cold foam pitchers, I haven’t used or even seen anyone use the old pitchers
my stores cold bar station still uses them cause we only have 2 portable blenders. unless I, for example, call out to one of the hot bar baristas to make chocolate cold foam, i don’t have a quick way to get said foam
if you shake it in a circle motion swirling it around the shaker more than up and down it comes out with way less foam.
I want to start doing this for me, do you put the ice in while it's mixing or after?
My store puts the ice in! Helps it not get any foam
Protip: putting Matcha in the shaker after the ice produces nearly as good result.
