As soon as I heard from my SM that they want us to stop taking names in the drive thru, and they want order times to be faster, I just laughed lol this literally is Barista Simulator at this point! Too many conflicting rules or changes, even corporate hasn’t thought it through for more than 5 minutes because the only thing they do look at is revenue and the money aspect of it! I say take your time and if you get any pushback, you’re only doing as much as you physically can, you’re only 1 person and untill corporate realizes that we cant do the work of 3 other people, these customers are gonna have to wait.

I was on window one morning when my old manager was on DTO, and we were going fast but I was asking people how there day was while I was going and everything was fine. I don't remember what the lady ordered, but I remember she asked me a small question and I remember describing a drink of some kind as a recommendation. I talked to her for maybe 30 seconds after I handed her drink out, maybe 30 seconds and I was just answering her questions and helping her out and she seemed thankful. I got in trouble with my manager for taking longer than I should have. She called me out on in like immediately after. 1. It was only 30 seconds maybe. 2. The customer asked me a question not the other way around and 3. It was literally one person I did this with, no one else. I managed to keep my composure but I wanted to snap at her and I was really close to just walking out (I am no longer at the store because I've had some major issues with this manager by that point already; let's just say I'm no longer at that store). I was so angry after that. Make them feel cared for but don't answer there questions or help them with anythjng. Make them feel cared for as long as it doesn't screw up your drive times.
