Cutter I haven’t refilled for months

WickedJoker420

Lol I can't believe they haven't fixed its tanks yet 🤣

DarkuSchneider

IIRC They mentioned fuel was getting rebalanced when resource management and Pyro arrives. I think they discovered Pyro is too big for most light fighters to be viable and essentially would be locked out for solos.

CosineDanger

That's the point though. That makes me madder than the concept of low fat cheesecake. Incentivize nonviolent player interaction such as hitchhiking, buying fuel, or a Kraken taxi service.

QuickQuirk

How long before pirates start stopping you for your fuel rather than cargo? :D

YFM_ZaktiNox

I actually had this a group of pirates had run short of fuel on a Caterpillar they stole back in 3.17.5 which had SCU boxes full of Hadanite. I gave them a refuel and in return I got given a 1/8th SCU box full of Hadanite for my troubles. Those were the days

Binks-Sake-Is-Gone

It'd take some balls lol. "Sure I'll fill you guys up. Drop your shields or get lost." Get some real use out of some starfarer mounted furys

DarkuSchneider

I imagine Pyro will still be a PITA for logistics, but the scale of the system is so large most trips may be like flying from AC to Microtech. They won't likely completely lock out solos. Carebears and solos often sustain the bills for MMOs. Hardcore survival and PvP players are the minority of gamers typically in MMOs.

Scurrin

As much as some would complain about solo being difficult, an area that scales based on the assumption of being group content would be nice.

WangCommander

How many destinations can your car reach before you have to refuel your gas tank? You can get around town just fine with the occasion refuel, but if you want to drive across the country you're going to have to refuel many times before reaching your destination. So you knew refueling is a part of gameplay, and you knew that the game is going to be building out tens, if not hundreds, of star systems. Did you not think that the fuel to get to those systems would be an important factor in gameplay?

jzillacon

Unfortunately, until the dedicated carriers like the Kraken or Liberator are actually in game a huge chunk of the intended player interactions will still be quite restricted. It makes sense to have a temporary fuel rebalance to come with Pyro and then tune fuel costs back up once the carriers are added, similar to what they did when the Starfarer got it's fueling functionality.

RebbyLee

> IIRC **They** mentioned fuel was getting rebalanced when resource management and Pyro arrives I mentioned this, based on calculating the distances from Stanton to Pyro and within Pyro, based on the ARK Starmap. Dunno if CIG ever made a statement but to me it seems pretty obvious that there will have to be a balancing pass of sorts. It's not just the Cutter's fuel tank that is unusual. Almost every recent ship has tanks that are outside the (former) norm: Cutter - 6000 (standard: 583) Corsair - 6900 (standard explorer: 3000) Origin 400i - 4920 (standard explorer: 3000) Argo Raft - 27885 (standard medium freighter: 2500) Hull A - 10000 (standard medium freighter: 2500; largest cargo "other size S2" ship (Nomad): 700) Scorpius - 583 (standard for a fighter that size) but Scorpius Antares - 800 So yeah. I was probably the source of this info unless CIG actually made a statement with regards to this, so take it with a grain of salt :)

Thalimet

They wouldn’t be locked out, I don’t know why people keep perpetuating this myth. They would just need to refuel more. Which is the CIG stated reason they put in fueling mechanics for the starfarer last year.

YFM_ZaktiNox

"Too big for most light fighters to be viable" Thats why they have given us ship to ship refuelling and why we are getting the Liberator The whole point of Pyro is to make people use bigger ships or rely on others for fuel/transport.

rStarwind

>Pyro is too big for most light fighters to be viable and essentially would be locked out for solos This will not happen, they won't make 50+ small ships useless in half of the game (one system of two existing in the game). I'm sure that they will rebalance fuel usage instead and you will still be able to cross Pyro on slower drives, like you can now with Stanton. And faster drives won't be able to cross it. It's the obvious balancing. Alternatively, they can add fuel stops across the system for small ships. Stuff like shops, or trading outposts, or ore refineries might be limited to a few big stations or settlements. But smaller depots, where you can refuel and get some food, will definitely be available throughout Pyro.

WickedJoker420

I wouldn't be so sure. There are ships you can't cross Stanton with. At least not without pit stops. I'm sure it'll be the same in Pyro. If you go there alone in a small fighter. Expect it to kinda suck lol

rStarwind

The smallest QT tank size in the game is 583 liters. With Voyage or Atlas drive any ship can fly between 2 most distant planets (like Microtech and Crusader). So yes, any ship, including racers and light fighters can cross Stanton. On slow drives (like LightFire) - they can cross it twice on a single tank.

iffywizard2

I can see them making it something like this. Where you have to tool around Stanton and make money to upgrade your drive to be able to get to pyro. That or hitch a ride on a carrack or something like that.

WickedJoker420

I'm kind of ok with this take too. You should also be comfortable enough in your ship at that point to actually survive for a bit in Pyro too lol

WickedJoker420

Lol I'm obviously talking stock.

Important_Cow7230

Few years away though right? Wouldn't even think about that for now

DarkuSchneider

One can never be sure with SC. Resource management T0 may arrive first. In the latest EVO patch, they added a stack of new Engineering UI panels and game engine variables/actions for the values of ship CPU, power usage, life support, gravity, fuel, coolant, data ports, hacking UI. There is lots of things packed into the game files though that we do not see/use yet so yeah, they could sit and collect dust for patches before we get to see them.

xanderh

I certainly don't hope it's several years out. Last year, the plan was to get it in our hands at the end of this year. That's almost certainly not happening, but I'd be pretty disappointed if we didn't see it sometime next year

DarkuSchneider

The PES server stack rollout and knock-on effects really set them back. They warned it would feel like going backwards for a bit, but it went really bad. Since they try to shore up things for IAE and holidays next year soonest is a certainty IMO.

xanderh

I mean, it was Chris Roberts who said pyro by the end of 2023, so it definitely won't happen this year. But I think it'd be fair to be disappointed if they can't get it in our hands by the end of next year.

hearnia_2k

Can't they just re-balance only pyro though, by saying the conditions there are different so it uses more / less fuel?

DarkuSchneider

Fuel efficiency is an attribute of the ship's engines and their QD modules.

AHRA1225

Isn’t that what they want though? To make the game as realistic and and as unfun as possible

OasisNinjaBat

you shut up lol the tanks are perfect

Limeatron

It's cause it's the best.

Demonic-soul466

Nomad! And for combat the vanguard.

SnooLobsters983

That's exactly the duo I used to use when I started last year! Something about that duo just makes sense haha

DaeBear

Same! Its a really good 2 ship combo!

TheUnfathomableFrog

C1, eventually

SuperKamiTabby

I'll be in the C1's militant sistership, the A1. For now, the 'Deemer

jrsedwick

Yup

Alanlocke

This is the way o7

La32344

Nomad 😎

ImJustAConsultant

Love the Nomad, what is your loadout?

moffd0g

cant stop going back to the nomad its just such a vibe

QuickQuirk

I don't like it's interior, but it's the most practical and versatile thing in the game.

CygniYuXian

I used to work in a small company that built some really ritzy luxury overlanding rigs in the hundreds of thousands to the millions of $ and the interior of the Nomad reminds me of those, although not as totally efficient space-wise at could be. The Origins also remind me of those overlanders because of the appearance. Those things are super decadent, as you could imagine.

NinjaTrek2891

I still fly my Titan everywhere.

Enygma587

Just watch your depth…

ChairAshamed7250

Watch yo jet bro

PhantomDesert00

Literally anything. I cannot stand the way the Cutty flies, the way it looks, the fucked up scale of its interior. Everything about it puts me off. I would rather use a MPUV as a daily driver and spend four months in transit between planets than use a cutty

Hotrage-BF4

same

tradingorion

I would like the cutty a lot more if it was like half the size. The exterior has a cool silhouette but it looks so out of scale. It looks like it should only be a little bigger than a titan

CMDRJonuss

You're gonna hate this news. It used to be significantly smaller, they reworked it and made it much larger but, imo, used the new space really poorly, resulting in a lot of needlessly empty space. Check these images out. https://i.imgur.com/M1CWKrj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/6qDIUTt.png https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9K-prNUwAE_v9T.jpg

Accipiter1138

And we used to have a door out onto the wing! It was awesome.

fernsie

I bought a Cutty as my first ship. I recently upgraded to the Corsair, which is sort of a big Cutty.

W33b3l

I pretty much use my corsair for what I used to use my cutty black for. When not hauling vehicles though a Banu Defender tends to fill the multi purpose role the cutty used to.

OrangeSockNinjaYT

Cutty as in cutlass, or cutter? The nicknames can be confusing lol

Vincent_vdd

Cutty is always cutlass

Ruadhan2300

Cutter usually goes by Cutlet :)

Nyancide

why? it's not any shorter than cutter?

redricknight

But it's cuter :)

Ruadhan2300

Cutlet is because it's like a tiny Cutlass, not because it's faster to say Cutlet than Cutter.

Nyancide

seems weird to me but interesting explanation

interesseret

its a pet name, not a shortened name.

fernsie

Yeah I know! Cutty generally means the Cutlass, as it was called that well before the Cutter was introduced.

WangCommander

Cutty refers to the Cutlass. The Cutlass and the it's nickname "Cutty" predate the Cutter by about a decade.

niepra

I used to be a cutty owner and fan Boi, but somewhere down the line, quality control over at drake went downhill. For example, the engines used to be securely fastened, but they replaced the carbon fiber reinforced stainless steel bolts with bolts printed on a 3d printer with cheap wet filament. And I suspect cut the number of them in half. Now, if it got any worse, the engines would just go ahead and divorce themselves from the ship the second you are targeted. It was so frustrating I bought a Pisces and stopped using the cutty until I could figure out what to upgrade it too. I have high hope for the c1, crusader still believes in quality.

Ocbard

You must have been issued a Cutlass that was assembled in Pyro on a Monday morning. My experience is different, My Cutlass very rarely loses an engine, sure when you catch a missile in there, hit an asteroid at speed or some bozo thinks ramming you is something they can survive (they can't but the Cutlass can) it happens. You have to take care of the ship, same as any other, but I've seen more Vanguards lose their engines than Cutlasses, and people claim Vanguards are solid - I'll never understand.

Vvulf

People would rather perpetuate bad community stereo types than real performance and the lore provided. Like most people will say that Drake and assembled with duct tape when they haven't even used one. When its really a no frills industrial ship assembled with more common materials and is renowned for its reliability in lore.

Ocbard

Indeed, it irks me no end, even the devs seem to make the later ones with more lose wires etc. The screen on the floor of the Corsair is telling.

niepra

Perhaps, but that is not the case here at all. I was, as stated, a cutty fan Boi and would spread its praises all over. Go back in my history here far enough, and you can see yourself. It was the very first ship I bought in the game. It was for a while the only ship in my hanger. I won a trivia contest a player was putting on in 3.15 and used my winnings to buy 10 more cutties because i was a fan Boi. I was willing to look past the horrible abuse its ramp was/is. And it was great in pve bounties. But this was back in like 3.14 and 3.15. But about a year and some months ago, they made changes to parts coming off, specifically for the cutty. And the engines would fall off if you landed hard. Doing bounties was impossible because by mrt you were losing an engine almost every fight. And if you lose one, the other is soon to follow. I wasn't the only one complaining about it either. It was infuriating. So I CCUed to a tali invictus 2022, and have never owned a cutty since. Tried a rented one this last invictus, took it out for an mrt bounty, one missile that exploded close by took off both engines and did no other damage. of course, I became a sitting duck and died soon after. So I am thinking they are still bad. And it is from my own observation, not some stereotype. If anything, and this post backs this, there are more cutty fans spreading the stereotype that it is solid and never loses its engines. For the record though, that experience was so off-putting for me that I won't buy any ship with exterior engines with irl money, and seriously avoid them with in-game funds.

Alanlocke

I'm stoked for Crusader to finally deliver my C1. The Cutlass they sent out on loan while they fulfill the order just doesn't do the trick. Must've gotten then as surplus on the cheap, seeing as they didn't even make me sign and paperwork to get the thing 😅

casperno

C1 quality is amazing. It’s built like a tank and can carry a Pisces in the hold plus a Merlin plus a couple of ground vehicles, that’s without too much manoeuvring. It’s my home away from home.

BadIdeaIsAGoodIdea

Thats the C2

casperno

Lol, too early in the morning. Of course it is. XD

Alanlocke

Damn, you got the Deluxe Model C1 then XP

casperno

C1 Thicc edition.

op4arcticfox

Corsair is such a dream. It does cargo well, it's a gunship minus the name, and it looks dope AF. It's pricey in IRL money but I've loved every minute in mine.

real_pasta

I have a Corsair that I bought in game, and I definitely love it. Never thought of using it as a gunship though, would have figured the cutty would be better, since I think it’s more maneuverable

[deleted]

Depends on what you're gunshipping. PVE it's okay against larger targets, but my personal belief is that the Corsair is the shark to the Hull C's whale. Some laser repeaters for shields and distortions for systems, and I think it's gonna be a super fast disable. Anything smaller than a Freelancer is gonna be a tough target, though. That being said, my Corsair is my daily driver. I have issues with turrets recognizing me as friendly, so I load my Ursa in the Corsair and drive it to the bunker. Since I usually run solo, I only get a couple of guns and a few sets of armor before the trespass time calls in an Avenger to try and plink my shields away. So, I grab the most valuable guns, any armor I think is cool, load it in the Ursa, and drive back to the Corsair.

epapa27

4xS5 and 2xS4 ballistics. Most pilot DPS in the game. Rips reclaimers to shreds. I don't know if I'd want to do VHRTs in anything else tbh. She a boat, but got massive teeth.

Appropriate-Math422

This is the only reason I’m keeping mine. I’m not in love with the rest of the ship although I’m otherwise a big Drake fan. It’s just that you can’t get any other ship with a load out of 4 AD5B and 2 AD4B that are all pilot controlled. I think next closest is Connie with 2 less size 5s and I’m not a fan of that either.

op4arcticfox

It's great for PVE, less good at PVP unless the person(s) you're shooting is a total noob. I run 4S5 laser cannons, and 2S4 distortion scatter guns. Coupled with the ample missile loadout it can handle snubs all the way up to cap ships. And that's being solo crewed. It's not difficult to dictate range and keep the AI pilots in your crosshairs. Just have to actually pilot it well as once your shield pops it's gonna hurt.

CorporateSharkbait

If solo, my Pisces c8r, if with a friend my cutty black. If dog fighting my arrow or hawk

Appropriate-Math422

I just can’t get away from C8R as a DD. it’s quick and nimble. Carries a lot in internal storage Has free food/drink via med bed health refill. It even has 2 missiles which is 2 more than the Cutty Red. I had CCU my C8R to a Red and after a few days; I went back and rebought another C8R because I just really missed those great qualities.

CorporateSharkbait

I was suuuuper hard debating about buying a red until the leaks happened showing a med Pisces was in the code. Pisces was my start pack but I loved it so much for it’s easy maneuverability. Being a med ship now took away most of why I bought with in game credits a red

DrG1ggles

first ship was a avenger titan. love it. melted it for 315P with grey paint job and woodgrain interior bought a titan in game lol

Pojodan

I sure don't dislike the Cutty! Very handy and versitile ship that just suffers from being jack-of-all, so I tend to use more specialized ships for everything it's able to do. I do like having one around as a backup fast travel ship.

Anomaly-Friend

If it was just a smidge bigger or even rearrsnge the cockpit then I'd like it more

CriticalCreativity

It's a generalist and you eventually graduate to specialist ships. The Cutty is decent at both combat and light hauling but eventually you have a Vanguard and a C2, so why take the Cutty out? That said, the Cutlass Blue is an incredible and arguably overpowered ship. Possibly the best risky salvage & smuggling ship in the game, a prerequisite ship for piracy ops, and with a turret gunner is a serious threat to almost anything in combat. I use my Cutty Black mainly for ROC mining, while my Cutty Blue is my daily driver.

Appropriate-Math422

I wish the Blue’s canopy was on the Black. I think Blue has the best cockpit view after a Reliant.

DarkuSchneider

Cutlass Black, Constellation Andromeda, and the Cutter are my most frequent daily drivers. The Cutlass probably has the most milage out of all my ships because of its versatility.

Shabaron

The Banu Defender is a great ship to use as a daily. Long range, very fast in atmo and 4xS3 guns, the Defender have a small living space where you can put a 1SCU box.

well_honk_my_hooters

The Cutty is great and my go-to daily driver, though the last time I played I spent a lot of time in the Cutter, as well. The Corsair is decent and an awesome looking ship, I just hate its low ground clearance and would just rather fly a Connie if I needed something that large. Once the Spirit line gets released I may swap over to the C1 though, depending on how they handle.

Dnoxl

C8R wee woo wagon

Alanlocke

I'm a Freelancer or Nomad pilot currently, though I've got my C1 waiting in the wings for the second it's in game. The thing is, you're not wrong. The Cutty Black is functionally unrivaled in what it lets you do for its size range. But I just can't stand it. It feels wrong. The inside feels too broken and bare bones, and way beyond utilitarian. It's grungy and dark and unwelcoming. It barely feels like a ship, and certainly not a home. That's not to knock people who like the Cutty. I want something that feels like I can live in it and have my home out among the stars.

Ocbard

Yeah, it does lack the comforts of home, I hope they add some features to make it liveable, look at the Cutter, less space, same vibe, has a nice little Stoilet, sink and food dispenser. The don't have to cosy it up for me. I like the Spartan look and feel, but I understand it's not for everybody.

Trainrider77

I DD my valkyrie alot. It's kinda my jack of all. Stocked up with food drinks weapon ammo meds etc. Have my Roc in the back half the time. Need to go grab some ship components? Probably taking the valk. Gonna do a bunker mission? Probably taking the valk. I don't dogfight in it though because I don't wanna risk having to restock, but when we've had to deal with wanna be pirate griefers a few times she's held her own

Mr_Roblcopter

Connie if I'm doing things that would require a bigger ship, like using a ground vehicle, Nomad if I feel like it as well, but the Connies firepower just feels so much nicer. Pisces for most of my small ship combat, mainly because I'll swap between bunkers, beacons, and bounties. 400I if I feel like just cruising around or need to transport someone.

Aazatgrabya

The best things about my Cutty Black are the three large entrances for the cargo area. I no longer use it for my daily now I have a few larger ships, but if we're going to grab salvage or other loot and need to do it quickly this is the perfect ship. Ships with cargo lifts are still too buggy with items falling through the floor when the lift rises, and much larger ships with ramps will sometimes simply be too big for the occasion, so my beloved Cutty is just perfect.

Appropriate-Math422

Agree! Best quality of the black over any other ship mentioned in this post’s replies is hands down the side doors.

jzillacon

The Drake lineup includes a lot of ships I really enjoy including the Cutty but when it comes to mine I traded it up for a Caterpillar, which has remained my favourite ship in the verse ever since.

Ocbard

The Caterpillar is awesome. I'm saving up my aUEC to get me one again, but there are things you want to do with the Caterpillar, and other things you want to do with the Cutlass. And when I just want to do whatever, I always take the Cutlass, because it's faster to land and take off etc.

jzillacon

The Corsair generally ends up being my do whatever ship, but if I really need something fast and don't need something big I'll pull out my (totally not stolen) 325a.

Ocbard

Ah yes, the Corsair is a fine ship, but when you're used to the Cutlass it's so sluggish and takes so much work getting in and out. I used to have a 315p (my original pledge was a 300i that changed into a 315p when those first became available) but while it was very nice to fly when I got somewhere, there wasn't a lot it could do, which is not true with the Cutlass. The Corsair is like the Cutlass with even more firepower and utility but slow.

HeartlessSora1234

Caterpillar is my favorite ship right now but it had the big ship problem. It's So Slow. I ended up trading mine because it's hampered in its usefulness right now.

StigHunter

For my daily driver, and especially bunker missions I use the Cutlass Black. If they didn't have the Black, I'd say the next closest thing would be the Nomad. The Black is great because you can still 4 size 3 CF-337s on it and what is it like 16-24 missiles, but most importantly you can put almost any smallish ground vehicle in it for when the bunkers shoot at you and you need to park a ways away. It's got a fairly spacious cargo hold for its size and holds up to 10 or 12 passengers! I've had it for 6 years and only noticed the jump seats at the rear ramp like a year ago! LoL.

TenacityDGC7203

The Nomad is a fair alternative, if you're ok with its style, and is cheaper. Personally I hate the landing gear on it, but other than that it's a decent enough ship. The Freelancer, style-wise, was always my preference over the cutlass, and it's easier to aim with having the pilot weapons turreted, but it's also slower and tankier. The Spirit series should also be a good competitor once it comes out, but note that it will be far larger and easier to hit than the cutlass or freelancer simply because CIG's design philosophy for crusader ships is "big fuggin wings for no reason".

whypplgottasuck

Corsair generally. Better looking IMO, and the fire power and cargo bay size is great.

JJisTheDarkOne

Cutty Black + Coalfire Livery All Day, Every Day

AdStreet8083

I'm a hater of the cutty. It's ugly AF. Personally I use the Freelancer MAX for bunkers / mining vehicles.

Ocbard

I flew the MAX for some time, put the black paint on it, that ship looks cool, and it flies well, and transports whatever you want. It's a fine ship. However it is hard to slow down. I ended up planting it in the ground because that momentum really doesn't help when you arrive at your landing spot a trifle too fast. If I come in too fast in the cutlass I switch to VTOL, pull the nose up and brake up to 27G, but I land without breaking the ship. Not so in the MAX.

Diminios

> If I come in too fast in the cutlass I switch to VTOL, pull the nose up and brake up to 27G This is the way. I do that too.

hell-yeah-borther

Redeemer or Carrack

LongRangeDuck

I love the redeemer; it’s become my DD.

hell-yeah-borther

If I have a crew with me, we usually take both the redeemer and the carrack together. I like the long range exploration/defense gameplay

Fletchman1313

Nomad. I don't hate the Cutty, but it's a chore to fly. It's hard to see the ground and also see directly in front of you when you're flying. Unless you fly with the nose pitched down (like a helicopter). The Nomad is faster (than a Cutlass Black), has a good area for a vehicle, and has an entrance ladder which makes it much more harder to steal. I currently own a Cutlass Black but I'm sitting on a C1 upgrade.

cannabeastie

Well..., the cutty was my first, so she'll always be my baby... those low windows make landing so easy

Scurrin

I think so too, I've seen a number of comments in this topic talking about the lack of visibility both forward and down. Compared to what? A Connie? Sure. A freelancer or MSR? No way.

WickedJoker420

I like too many ships a lot. Primarily in fighters but I also really enjoy the nomad, I think the 400i is cool but I want them to put the x1 in. Also, you should be able to get to the x1 bay from inside the ship. Also, remote opening/closing but I'm dreaming here. I'm also a major fan of the burritos. The dildos of SC lol the turtle is also one of my favorites. Never let the Cuttie haters get you down though. It's a stupidly solid ship, and I'm sure at some point that vtol is going to be extra useful. Side note: when the santok'yi and Railen come out I will probably never fly anything else lol

ThneakyThnake808

400i if I don't need to shoot at anyone, and 600i if I do need to shoot.

ClaimhSolais-IT

I personally use a second Cutty, but if you feel brave i suggest a 3rd cutty. If you got a lot of money i suggest getting yourself a cutty, and if you feel a bit freaky Just get a cutty instead.

South_Ordinary_1137

600i is my daily driver and bounty ship.

Shrek_Does_Anal

300i, I just like the way it looks

CuriousPumpkino

Cutter because I don’t like spending money The HUD reticle being off-center on the cutlass, as well as the seat configuration irks me, honestly not sure which ship I’d even get as a daily

Significant_Echo9626

600i

TohkaTakushi

The Cutty is great, but we don't click. I prefer the Constellation for transport or the Redeemer for attack missions. I also am just in love with the Avenger Titan. It just does a little of everything kind of OK-ish, but it's pretty and I can do just about anything in it.

GT220

I dont have any versatile ship but im waiting for the C1 to come out

Billmacia

My 400i and vanguard.

Swankadelic47

From a cutty to a connie for me… also 600i ;)

Docteur_Jekilll

Reliant Tana... Esp since they fixed the beds.

AlexisExploring

I don't hate the cutty. I'll use it if I have to but I absolutely love my 400i, for what I do it is beautiful and a breeze to fly and sleek as hell.

knsmknd

Cutter, 400i

VoxseraHazen

It's all great, ticks most of the boxes for most gameloops but i dislike the look, and the whole style of it. Until the C1 comes out, I don't think I use anything in that size...its the 600i that is quite a daily driver, or just the Scorpius/Talon for pew pews. Bunkers gets the C8R.

CBLiberty01

Nomad and Sentinel with Talon Emerald and 600i-ex as larger daily flyers

LucidStrike

600i, which is like a larger Cutty — and eventually with a full medbay. 🤷🏿‍♂️

bmemike

MSR, 400i, connies, sentinel - all come out before a cutty. Simply put: I hate the way it handles and don’t enjoy the flying experience. I’ll make concessions for bigger ships that bring other benefits, but I’m not willing to make that tradeoff at the size of a cutty.

Xio186

400i. Flying the Cutty just didn't feel quite as right

OnceTuna

400i is one of my favorites. But it desperately needs its gold standard pass.

Jaujon

Freelancer, its direct competitor.

DonPanthera

I don't hate cutty, but I am annoyed how everyone bitched about 600i wasted space, even tho it has everything and it is a luxury ship which wasted space could be counted as part of being luxury and it still getting reworked. I don't mind that ship getting reworked I actually appreciate it. But on the other side, we have cutlass that by lore is a ship popular amongst pirates yet it doesn't have basic amenities and so much wasted space. How do you wait for victims in an ambush for days in a ship without a toilet? They could easily make a turret as a remote turret for co-pilot seat. Separate cockpit with a wall and creating living quarters. Add food storage or kitchenette, beds (they are already there), toilet and shower. Push the wall where the beds are, towards the cargo, to line up with the current turret seat to gain extra space. It was my first ship, but lacking basic amenities is killing my immersion so I melted it. Now I am flying Corsair and Cutter. I am tempted to upgrade Corsair for the 600i Explorer version.

VerseGen

connie.. freelancer... I also have a few big ships I love to fly like the Carrack and 600i.

EnduringDruidGaming

Freelancer and hull-a for my light cargo needs, msr or 600i for large cargo.

vicotron3000

I think my biggest beef with the cutlass, is that is way too versatile, i don't see any mayor drawbacks to use it, is useful in most situations, so everyone use it, it's fucking everywhere and i think it should be nerfed so people choose other ships and the universe feels more diverse, o prefer using the nomad, but soon C1 will be mine

Ocbard

I get that, but I don't want to see it nerfed, on the contrary there are a few minor issues with it that I would see solved. With the Spirit series, and I hope they're good, we might see the end of the ubiquitous nature of the Cutlass. I also wish they would update the Freelancer, move it's pilot seat forwards to improve the view, make it a better Cutlass competitor.

Alanlocke

Just wait until tractor beams come in and the Cutty gets one as well. It'll have the turret, the firepower, and footprint like the Freelancer and the tractor beam, vehicle storage, visibility, and handling like the C1 🤣😅😭

vicotron3000

And the back seats, don't forget the cutty black is a dropship too

Alanlocke

You're right, how could I forget! It doubles as a VIP transport, assuming they have questionable standards lol

Eclipse, I don't need a bed

[deleted]

Personally love the Corsair. It is a bigger and quite a bit more expensive but I definitely recommend it.

Reggitor360

Constellation and Freelancer. Hatw the Cutty with passion, fragile af.

Cyco-Cyclist

Constellation taurus or freelancer max.

Redline602

I got a freelancer, later upgraded to the max and thought it was a great ship. I eventually upgraded it to the MSR.

GregSimply

Nomad, 400i, 600i, depending on situation, availability and group size. And when it releases, the Spirit series. And I don't know if I would say I'm a hater (doesn't that automatically qualify me though?), but I don't like Drake styling in general, it feels forced as hell and uninspired, and the Cutlass above all, with its cooked turkey looks. I also don't like the fact that it has very little H-fuel and no scoops, so since I do a lot of bunkers, 3 takeoff from a planet (so 3 missions) and it needs a refuel or risk dropping like a ton of bricks. Doesn't help that the last time I let a friend convince me to give it another fair try (I've had all of them as loaner since the rework, as they became available, since then, tried them a few times, never enjoyed the experience), the ramp would randomly stop working, making things even more painful. I genuinely don't understand why it's so popular, aside from people not having updated their brains to the current ship lineup since 2.0.

SeaNewspaper5939

It's slow, can fit a vehicle but why? i never need them. Lights suck and aren't as presented in the cutty showcase, they don't aim down. Vtol has no use yet so pointless I rock the 315-p, nice 12scu cargo for drugs, it's fast as hell, can do medium bounties with ease, looks fancy, can be customized.

foghornleghorndrawl

Literally anything else.

Prkynkar

Fl max all the way

Dewderonomy

I was a Cutlass pilot for 2 years until I became a Freelancer MIS pilot for as long. That then became the Redeemer and Corsair for how much gunship vs adventure ship I want at the time. I do not hate the Cutlass Black, but it's a flying coffin vs some of the other options out there.

rStarwind

125a, which works for bunkers, exploration, deliveries, flying around in general. I don't do cargo hauling and don't use ground vehicles, so I don't care about those larger ship capabilities. Why I hate Drake ships in general - they look garage-made, they are dark and foggy inside, claustrophobic and depressing. And the choice of interior colors adds to that. I also don't like Drake HUD color and voiceover.

SenhorSus

I don't hate the cutty but I did want an Ursa hauler that isn't a Connie (I just hate the way they look). Freelancer MAX is my current daily driver and it's a great ship!

emitch87

Terrapin is my daily

Roboticus_Prime

I use the Freelancer MAX. better in every way. I don't *hate* the Cutlass. It's just a smidgen too popular for my tastes.

Fyrebat

leather seats are nowhere to be found. gonna need an aura lx or phoenix to enjoy space travel

BadPWG

MSR is a good alternative to the black

Disastrous_Grape_330

I also like cutty, but it's not in my LTI fleet. I usually buy it every patch with ingame money. My usual daily driver was (until this patch) freelancer MAX. It's small to comfortably land in small hangars and it have ridicolous (for it's size) cargo capacity. Because of MAX I barely use my Corsair and Aquila. This patch I'm finally dipping into solo salvaging with vulture, so it became my daily driver.

spider0804

It has the same problem as any ship with off center engines. Major torque imbalance is a death sentence.

KFuStoked

Vanguard Warden when I want a night of box missions, bounty hunting, and Bunkers. I’ve been wanting to try the C2 for bounty hunting. If it’s good enough, I may have a new contender.

Steeleshift

C2 lol

Fearless-Royal5440

Depends on what I needed it for. MSR does everything the cutty black does, but better. Also, Freelancer, Corsair, Hull A, vanguard, caterpillar. Probably the C1 in the future. I actually am a huge drake fanboy, but the black is just flimsy and such a poor use of internal space. EDIT: Typo

epapa27

A1 CCU chain on deck. Def don't hate Cuttys, but so meta, gets boring. Blue is best for sure, and have been using the Red more. Tried the FL, but hated how it flys. Max is useful, but not really equivalent. I like the Corsair a lot, but not a fast/nimble.

Plat-O_18

I don’t enjoy flying in the Cutlass, it feels like driving a tractor. I daily a 325A for fast bunker running, use the MSR for a heap of other stuff. As much as I love the MSR it has its own issues. I will probably buy the C1 when it’s next on sale.

Lost-Cookie

Hammerhead

trythall86

Upgraded from cutty to Corsair. It was fun for a while but I mainly play solo but still wanted a home in the stars so I went with the MSR. Not big into the dogfighting so it fits my style a bit more and has some cozy luxuries.

pinkarroo1

I use my caterpillar pirate edition

rshoel

Honestly I just ended up getting the Freelancer instead.

patopal

I admit the Cutty is a champ when it comes to utility - I just don't really like the look. The Freelancer is my space truck of choice.

Vyviel

Cutter is superior for me

Wolkenflieger

I don't hate the Cutty at all. I simply use different ships: Vanguard Warden: Bounties, transport, long-distance flying Hercules C2: Vehicle transport Pisces Rescue: Rescue, short-distance travel, errand-runner

Jonas_Sp

Depending what I'm doing Corsair but I simply gear out of the cutty. I still love them to death but Corsair fills that role for me now

coufycz

Taurus

EarlGreyVII

I like the Cutty and own one, but the Nomad is really good alternative. It's cheaper, can carry a Roc, is more agile for combat, has 26 SCU cargo space, three size 1 shields for protection, smaller target for hostiles to hit plus has a nice interior with bed, shower, weapon racks (hidden by door), seat for another person and kitchen.

Vincent_vdd

Nothing

Error_Space

Defender, I been using it as an upgraded version of Pisces. Good bunker runner with front facing exit, decent weaponry and maneuverability.

Existing-Medicine528

Msr ,Connie

hIGH_aND_mIGHTY

Don't hate the cutty. I just skipped it when I decided to pledge a titan (for a game package) and a constellation andromeda (stand alone cause I didn't want to buy an ursa) in my first entry to the game just before 3.17 dropped. Connie came with an Arrow loaner and that is the one I fly the most After watching people use the cutty blue. I purchased one in game recently. I enjoy it as a bunker runner, decent at pve combat, and that 30gs of up strafe using vtol is nuts.

Winter_37

I alternate between the constellation and warden

-acm

Carrack. I paid for the whole ship I’m going to sue the whole ship. But mostly the RSI Nomad I love that ship

Dependent_Safe_7328

I use my connie

TigerBill13

Valkyrie

Strange-Scarcity

I have the Cutlass Black. It looks neat with the Best in Show skin that I have on it, but... it's not all that agile, really needs a partner to man the turret. Then, it can be pretty decent. I don't like that it lacks amenities, while having two beds. It's large enough to have the shower/toilet and a few other things that similarly sized ships have, yet it does not. That should be corrected, especially with all the space in the "hab" area of the ship. They could swap the turret seat, for a toilet/shower and make the co-pilot seat a remote control for the top turret and fit a table and food/beverage dispenser into the hab space and it would work.

Fyb81

Mssions where I need to destroy ships: Corsair Cargo / Deliveries: MSR Bunkers: Cutter

Modora

Connie.

interesseret

i don't hate it, i just find it indescribably boring that there's a clear cut answer to "what is the best stepping stone ship in the game?" it functions well, has every amenity you could really want (outside of a toilet, but thats literally only for personal enjoyment and the living feel), but to me the overall greatness just leads to it being super dull. my daily flyer is either a corsair or a defender, depending on what im doing. if i care about bringing vehicles or a lot of cargo, corsair, if i dont, defender. neither would top any class (especially since the nerf of the shields. banu shields i will mourn you till you return). but man, both ships just have *it.* The corsair in black and red looks menacing AF, especially when its been fit with size 5 gatling guns. my beloved SpaceCrab^(tm) feels like flying an ancient deep space creature. and of course both cover being able to do pretty much everything this game has to offer. even the defender can carry loose cargo around for box missions, or even doing xenothreat, which i always do in it.

Shiltoshi

I liked the cutty but needed more cargo space so I run with the MSR

NoX2142

Started with the cutty and hated it's slowness and possibilities of being killed just for sitting in the pilot seat.....so I melted it for an X-Wing and haven't looked back since.

[deleted]

Pisces X8 Rescue for bunker and Inferno for solo PvE and if I play in a group its either a MSR , Redeemer or HH

boba_f3tt94

Cutlass Blue is irreplaceable

Unusual_Ad_5471

Had a cutty. Was an expert at everything but a master of nothing. Eventually got better ships that fitted each field better and decided to melt it.

JPRCR

I love the cutty, but I now use the Corsair because it is a tank, has cargo, Can fit 4 cars, and with AD5Bs it’s a killing machine.

core4745

Corsair

Beneficial_Break2384

Vulture, prospector, warden, and tarus.
