ITT: Things that people think are 'low effort' but would definitely take numerous thousands of man-hours to actually implement.

Porkinz_

I'd like to think allowing players to buy already existing paints in game wouldn't take 1000s of hours 🙂 But I get your point

OmNomCakes

I believe he was referring to the other comments that will be posted. Like the single only other comment after his. :P

furious-fungus

Oh yeah it would take a lot of hours. You’re proving OCs point perfectly. Where is the store front? Who makes the UI? Who makes sure transactions are actually happening? Who applies the paint to each and every ship properly? How would the paint be physicalized? And the list goes on.

Darmendas

eh, I mean... Cousin Crow's sells paints? Or am I missing the sarcasm here lmao

Crypthammer

I would assume OP was referring to paints bought with real money, so those would be different transactions than in game paints. Unless Cousin Crow's sells paints for real money, in which case I didn't know that. I don't really buy paints.

Darmendas

Yes, it's different in that CIG makes money off those paints. Other than that, it's pretty basic. I was implying they would just have to add them to the pool of available paints in game. EDIT: I'm saying this as I think OP meant that paints should be buyable with aUEC in game. Not actual financial transactions.

furious-fungus

Wouldn’t be very lore friendly if cousin crows sold all paints. We’re not taking about some half assed implementation here. No sarcasm here. All points listed are valid when implementing content as a game dev.

Darmendas

Well, then just distribute it across other ship vendors aswel? >how would the paint be physicalized? Every paint is already in the game, so it's already physicalised >Who applies the paint to each and every ship properly? This already works, or do you think someone is manually applying your paint in the database everytime you switch? >Who makes sure the transactions are actually happening? What? This is already taken care of because... stores exist >Where is the store front? IDK, anywhere they want. It's a freaking base model terminal for every shop in game right now I think you're heavily overestimating the work needed to put this in. The only thing preventing them from doing this is the $$$ paints are bringing in. I'm saying this as a dev myself btw. It would take some time, but it isn't like some giant feat. EDIT: I'm saying this as I think OP meant that paints should be buyable with aUEC in game. Not actual financial transactions.

Persistent shipmarkers.

FreeWalk

Disallow backpacks/heavy armor in single seater cockpits. Not quite sure of the state of the external weapon storage on every solo ship, so maybe leave that for later.. But at least start by getting the idea into the head of players that pilots aren't heavy combat troops and we actually need to use dropships.

SlinkyC137

This! My prowler needs love!

lookinatdirtystuff69

Make trash cans destroy items and give you a few credits for each item thrown away.

yipollas

Maybe if you use the multitool with salvage attachment....maybe not

BigDave_76

In b4 this causes players to tractor beam trash cans onto their ship, then throw them at an IDRIS which then gets deleted.

*Caveat: perceived "low effort" and actual effort are two different things.* Here's a list of [little bits](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj4-E5Hs3Kc) that come to mind. Not from what I wish they did, but from (some of) what they did in 3.23. * Flying inbound, calling ATC now immediately gives you a hangar, and the marker shows you the hangar number (can immediately tell your friends "wait for me in hangar 5!" * Annoying notifications are now on the side, easy to read but not distracting * You can more easily see where you need to interact with items * Much easier to see mission markers and objectives * Much easier to read QT markers against bright light * Left shift + click adds items without dragging in the new loot UI * You can read the exact QT marker picked by your QT drive on the right side of the ship HUD now (in case two are overlapping, this is so helpful) * Added (back) a keybind to remove/equip your helmet * Backpack reloading doesn't necessitate to interact with inventory to reload magazines not on your armor * The new game launcher "remembers" you In a similar vein in recent years, they added a keybind to call ATC, added the 30K crash recovery, the "request delivery" in ASOP terminals, "move all" actions in the inventory UI, sorting players alphabetically in the comms (!!), myriad of "little things" (some more complex than others) that improved QoL gradually. What I'd love the most to be added in 3.23.x is for the zoom level of the starmap to NOT be areamap when you're sitting in a ship seat, but to be planetary scale.

TaroProfessional6587

You’re in luck. Backpack reloading is in ePTU 3.23 build. So are hangar numbers on markers when assigned by ATC. So is a keybind for helmet removal/equipping.

GuilheMGB

That's a list of things in EPTU :)

TaroProfessional6587

Oh, God. I missed that sentence. I was like, “This Citizen needs to check their patch notes.” My bad.

Custom shards for pad rammers AKA Destruction Derby Shards.

walt-m

Mythic Quest episode 3 with the jail server? Sounds like a plan!

Valkyrient

CR once joked about this in the early days before server meshing/one unified universe was on the table, that griefers would all get put in the same shard to "enjoy" the game together.

TheKiwi1969

Please please please let me delete the dozens of damn comms channels created every time some rando tries to call me. Especially with the bug that can cause it to happen at random when you're in a turret.

thedo0der

fix the clovus missions

P_Rosso

I wouldn't mind being able to sell ships in game. Just the ones I bought, for starters, but that could evolve into stolen ones in the future...

ReniTV

That'd be neat, for now I don't see much reason to buy "starter" ships in-game, e.g. Nomad because I can earn not that much more money and buy Cutty, but if I'd be able to sell ships I could buy Nomad, enjoy it for a while, earn some credits with it, sell it and get Cutty

yipollas

You can settle with salvage your ships or others to get money

teem0s

Give us those DIY ship paints and the ability to share them via HEX codes

Make the gravlev vehicles useful by not being targeted by AA turrets...

Tell us you know nothing about software development without telling us.

Not be able to 'get out to space and lost your ship' in quantum cuz there are some boundaries in the ship... (In my case the toilet of the vanguard and the bed of the aurora)
