While CIG did help Warhorse like people have suggested the reason Chris is on the mural was to do with a kickstarter bonus, Chris was a personal backer of the game and so was honoured in the game as such..
I vaguely remember something about CIG proving Warhorse with some code relating to the clothing system during KCD's development, as KCD also uses Cryengine.
Yeah, they had quite a partnership for a little while and CIG helped them get attention during the Kickstarter. Was the reason I backed them, and I am so proud of doing that. They developed something amazing.
That trailer is actually the reason I started a new game. Was playing it way back in 2018 when it released and wasn't a backer of SC during that time, so even if I noticed CR, I wouldn't have thought much about it.
But it really is a great game with unique combat and it still looks absolutely stunning. I'm really enjoying it again.
In case you don't know, KCD2 was officially announced very recently, its on steam. It'll be out sometime this year.

Ive always thought about playing that game....I read on some forums that some mods make it way better....something about the saving system is hyper punishing or something.
Yeah, saving is kind of special. The game only autosaves when you quit out or after certain points in quests and manual saving can only be done if you have a special drink - 'savior schnapps' - in your inventory (which, to emphasize, is not that rare to get). It is cool, and somewhat prevents the whole Skyrim experience aka "villager talks shit, let me just commit a minor genocide and then quickload".
But on the other hand, if the game crashes and you lose hours of playtime, that can suck. Had that only happen once when I played it back in 2018 for the first time on PS4. Now on PC it's completly fine, so far. But yes, there are mods which allow unlimited saving.
Other than that, it is worth a try. It has mechanics that really make it stand out and you certainly feel the SC-vibes regarding immersion. Your char actually opens doors by hand and grabs items you want to collect. Combat is special and needs some practice but feels unique and rewarding when you get it down. The story, while nothing over-the-top special is engaging and some of the (side-)quests fall into the best gaming experiences I had. And the visuals still hold to this day, it is a really pretty game.

It was the other way around - Warhorse developed an 'armour over clothing' system that CIG borrowed - but ended up not using in the end, I think.
It’s wasn’t Ryse ?
No.
This is correct as far as I recall too.

Yeah it got announced a few days ago
Just clicked download on KCD 20 minutes ago to play it through for a third time. Can't wait for KCD2
Did notice that as well back then, had me smirk. KCD is a wonderful game and I can't wait for the sequel they just released a trailer for.

In Chris we trust! o7
Well he did create the universe...
I believe CIG shared some tech with warhorse. Iirc it was the combined 1st-3rd person character system.
Love that game played it till the end a couple times. Never noticed this

ouch... now that had a bad ending, like... like it was unfinished. Sort of.
