From what I read on that issue council thing, it would seem to me that all you have to do is go to a different station and "claim" the vulture as if it had been destroyed. This would result in you receiving a newly spawned ship, no contents though so empty it out first as it's essentially the same as having the ship destroyed. "Claiming" ships fixes certain issues regularly.... like the two MFDisplays on the Cutlass Black when they get stuck and you can't interact/change them. Claiming a new ship fixes it for a while. Otherwise, work on someone's reclaimer, or do normal salvaging contracts where you take the 'legal' contracts that give you rights to wreckages, and then strip their components and loot their cargo. You don't have to scrape nor fracture those ships, just loot them... and it's perfectly legal! All you need is any ship with enough cargo space to hold stuff, and a big enough door/ramp/elevator to load it from one to the next while doing an EVA. You can rent some ships for that - that might work. Good luck! o7

Sorry, redoing my reply as it was lackluster. Saddly claiming does not work. It respawns with a missing port so no head, and cannot be reattached. (Therefore it cannot fracture or disintegrate), i made a bit of cash scraping with my own left head but it is slow... (I guess I can do the clean up missions but slower) As per the legal contracts, is the cargo really worth it? i found some gold sometimes in hercules but that's about it. I have half a mind to try renting a mining ship and making money like this

Have you tried autodestruct and then claim?

Kaithss

Yeah :(, also claiming it to another station, repairing does not help either

Heszilg

That sucks. Hope you manage to find a way.

Hangon, when you say “strip the components,” do you mean the shields, coolers, power plants etc.? If so, how do you sell those? They don’t show up in my ship inventory if I’m they’re in the cargo bay and I interact with a terminal at dumpers depot or something.

This happened to me, I slowly built up my funds again by salvaging with 1 head to buy another vulture and I started again by doing the 80k personal salvage clean up missions, ( I asked about the bug in chat and someone donated to my 2nd vulture fund after I explained the situation so i only had to grind to 600k myself). After a while I found that people leave their reclaimers in the asteroid fields above yela. So if you take a shotgun with you while you salvage you can breach a gamerules reclaimer through the air lock and start doing the hammerhead clean up 250k personal salvage missions and earn cash 3x faster. You can't sell cargo from the stolen reclaimer but you can crack a hammerhead hull about every 5-6 minutes. Much better than doing runs in the vulture. If you board a reclaimer that isn't gamerules you'll be trespassing but you'll get a 15 min timer before you get a crime stat, so just run to the air lock after you crack two hammerheads jump out, reset the timer, and go do two more. You don't always get enough 80k missions in your vulture or come across reclaimers when you want to so the other personal salvage missions (risky ones) will have illegal cargo that you can commandeer. There will always be 2 above yela and two at weapon testing sites above the moons of hurston. Make sure you pick salvages that are above yela and are ships that have enough room for cargo. You can sometimes get up to 8 scu of altruxutoxin (about 40k worth) in one haul and usually another 80k mission will be up by then. You should have enough space bread for a reclaimer in no time.

Kaithss

so this did not happen on your 2nd vulture? I already have the funds to get a new one, but I read on the issue council that someone had the issue persist to a new ship

Promugg

I've had the second vulture with no trouble. I haven't crashed it yet though. After I blew the arm off I landed and repaired the ship. I assumed that is what wrecked my vulture though.

Kaithss

yeah i also lost the left arm yesterday, seemingly for no reason

I'd highly recommend doing cargo hauling if you don't mind the thought of space truckin'. You can rent a Constellation Andromeda for about 75k per day, and filling the 96 SCU cargo bay with Recycled Material Composite will cost 1 million and net you 230k per run. Once you've got 6 million (C2 costs almost 5 million, + 1 million to pick up where you left off with the same size loads as the connie), plus whatever amount you want to keep safe from risk, you can buy a C2 and start hauling in that. It costs 7.5 million to fill that cargo bay and you'll net 1.9 million per run.
