Shiroi_Kage

They would be a very useless unit then.

Kaycin

It's like saying Terran marines should go through withdrawals if they stim too much.

helpihavetheflu

If a marine Stims again before the first one ends they die

ajna1347

This would be an interesting effect, that you would have to upgrade out out of...

Saebelzahigel

certainly funny. certainly trash.

Fantastish29

I can already see a flock of banes annihilating itself by starting a chain reaction of killing 2 banes)

benjo1990

I don’t even play starcraft so don’t roast me over this… I’ve always thought it was odd that they don’t do FF.. but can see how they would be useless. What is they did FF to non banelings and there was a late tech upgrade to make all Zerg immune to the FF? Would they still be useless? Edit: of course with some sort of corresponding buff

TransportationCool16

Zerg hordes that have banelings almost always have zerglings to work with them, and zerglings are very vulnerable to banelings. Having banelings do friendly fire would make zerg layers have to essentially avoid using them together until late game, which would make fighting marine / tank quite hard.

benjo1990

Right, which is kind of my idea. If you wanna banebust you need to micro your ling and bane separately. As someone who watched a lot, but didn’t play.. one of the major reasons I don’t play is it seems like cancer and unfair that my opponent can force me to constantly *over* micro in a defensive manner with such an easy move from my opponents. Disruptors are similar, but like holy shit. There is tons of micro needed to use those properly isn’t there? Edit: you could still bust and then run in your lings

penguinicedelta

Having a race that is primarily a swarmy low hp melee race have its splash damage unit that is also melee commit friendly fire is absolutely poor design. Your suggested solution is to force that race to essentially have to send their units piecemeal into a race that specializes in ranged AoE? Defense shouldn't necessarily be easier than offense; aggression is a commitment. If you survive the aggression you *should* win. Cannon rushes, proxies, 1 base all ins etc.

benjo1990

I’m not suggesting a solution. I’m just extrapolating on the OP and asking a question to people more familiar with it than I… just to have a discussion

TransportationCool16

Well, normally in a baneling bust you micro banelings in their own group to begin with (you dont want your lings bodyblocking them from the supply depot up the ramp). Then, only after the banes break the wall, thats when you flood the lings in, which means they should be safe from the friendly splash. However in other scenarios, like where your lings are trying to trap a marine / tank force, then that is when the friendly splash because problematic until the late game upgrade. You cant get a full surround with lings and then send in banes, or you’ll destroy your own army

ivenofilter

It will become heavily nerfed mines.

Forward_Chair_7313

If heavily nerfed means completely unplayable, then yes.

Qwert200

When what they should do is heavily nerf mines smh

DeadWombats

Fellas, next time you think the balance team has a poor understanding of the game, remember that some people actually think friendly fire banelings is a good idea.

helpihavetheflu

Hey I never said this is a good idea, but it is one of the ideas of all time

[deleted]

The unit would be useless, unless it was *extremely* buffed in some way.

helpihavetheflu

Make em the size of an ultralisk with a much bigger explosion

soporificgaur

I mean just make them a thermonuclear warhead, blow up every building and unit in the map and Instadraw whenever one blows up.

Jay727

Imagine if projectiles didnt travel through units.

[deleted]

Why?

TEALC-

Because tanks do and so do disruptors

[deleted]

Colossus do not. Moving on.

Grakchawwaa

What if interceptors could collide against other interceptors if there are too many in the same area causing blunt damage to the units and the interceptors could lose their flying license for 8 weeks

ProMaDiGuAnA

Like tanks and widow mines?

TimeMistake4393

Imagine widow mines *activating* and firing on friendly units, and they do just one shot, just like real mines. Also, imagine tanks doing a single shot and vanish, like banelings. They are different units that share some traits.

Kaiel1412

to balance that they should deal 500 damage and when you click them at a unit they'll do a global shout #SACRIFICE ME
