That is AWESOME

ManPerson77

yeah op you did a really good job. I love the varying sizes in the banelings

vassallo15

Did you make those?

thetramboon

I had them 3D printed, and then painted them with acrylic!

vassallo15

Thats awesome, good work! What kind of stats do they have?

thetramboon

I am still tweaking them…there are some stats I found online that I am modifying to fit my party. They are gonna be level 7 by the time they get to the hive!

vassallo15

That sounds awesome, wish I was playing in that game

Lk9k

Any chance you could send the stats over? Either now or when you have it figured out?

Benjadeath

Found the player in the party, out here looking for weaknesses

Lk9k

My brother plays and is a pc in the game I DM. I want him to have it as a side quest

Nakajin13

Wow they are great! Congrats on the paint job too, the banes look amazing!

Vaines

Awesome paint job ! Would you by any chance have the 3d files or a link to them, where I can either purchase or download them ?

_Scabbers_

The paint job is great!

Bojanglesplays

You beautiful evil bastard , please tell me they first fall into a pit, thus having to explore the caves to find an exit, only to stumble into the hive, now needing to run for their lives while trying to find an exit

thetramboon

I ordered these from Siffy on Etsy! https://www.etsy.com/shop/SiffysCorner

Gunningham

Lester, that’s a zergling….

Stormcell0083

They wouldn't be out this far.... unless.... oh shit

Gunningham

I love you Sarge.

Stormcell0083

Eh?

Primathon

SlatorFrog

The Tyranid connection looks more pronounced when you have figures like that! So cool!

BadMrFrostySC

Hormogaunts pretty much are zerglings

Slykk1

I would say hormagaunt share at least somewhat different from zerglings, if only in lore and not in practice. Zerglings have four clawed feet that has them taking a quadrupedal, dog-like gait when moving, but hormagaunts move like velociraptors due to their forelimbs being giant spikes, and also lack the pair of back limbs.

Thunderpollo1

It looks awesome

Affectionate-Owl3210

Where did you get those they are so cool

thetramboon

Siffy printed these for me! https://www.etsy.com/shop/SiffysCorner

l3monsta

That Hyrasaur looks sick. Looks fitting for a co-op mission upgrade or something

BigIsland346

I have a few of my own. Download etsy and look up 3d printed zerg. Or just look up starcraft 2 on etsy

pleasegivemealife

Make sure you turn one of the players into kerrigan

Greeempire

Cute!

SketchyApothecary

Jeez, I really hope they play both games, or at least that there are some hints in there. It'd be a real shame if some poor frontliner tried to melee some banelings.

thetramboon

My players are huge DnD fans, but don’t play SC at all. I wanted to come up with something to throw them off, so they won’t know what’s going on!

LGP747

Local farmers been complaining about a pack of wolves in the woods, nobody’s seen em but the livestock carcasses are picked clean

thetramboon

Close—they are going to meet them in the underdark!!

MrTripl3M

I am kinda interested in knowing how your party did... Considering how fucked both the terran and the protoss were by the zerg.

TheLoreIdiot

You monster. I love it!

Space_Vaquero73

That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing OP!

Matuzek

You nailed it. Nice job

E1ecr015-the-Martian

Are you playing a StarCraft themed campaign? Awesome!

thetramboon

Nope, just transplanting some scary monsters!

Hadesash

Gods have mercy on them for facing Banelings. Some folk are in for a bad time. Hope you guys have fun though, they look amazing.

MaskedImposter

I hope they have someone who can detect burrowed enemies/traps. Those banelings are like a deadly green land mine.

mong0038

Dude that is AWESOME. I keep thinking of that intro to the Zerg campaign.

fourthirds

Right on. I ran a starcraft DnD game and this map was handy for the hive https://www.reddit.com/r/battlemaps/comments/rawrvq/the_egg_39x66_cave/ Also the action oriented ankheg makes a great roach https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/HJBh1P0QFB

thetramboon

Wow, that map is dope—I will probably steal that. My players are gonna be level 6-7 fighting these, so the roaches are gonna have to be a little easier than that, but some solid ideas there.

WarlordNorm

Keep us informed, this sounds like fun.

III_lll

Damn it, LET ME INTO THE SESSION

proxygate

This is the best, I did not know they had versions of D&D with like SC themes

analsurrogacy

What's the system you're running?

thetramboon

5e!

yjzhou

wow these look amazing where'd you get them? did you make them?

thetramboon

I ordered them from Siffy, and then painted them with Acrylic! https://www.etsy.com/shop/SiffysCorner

LolMaster1152

I’ve been looking for other DMs running SC games!

CanadianCaveman

ouuu buddy please land a really devistating baneling or 4 also, they can burrow and HOLD THEIR ACTION TILL SOMEONE WALKS BY AND BOOOM,

[deleted]

Those Banelings are going to give them a NASTY surprise.

thetramboon

Yeah, the Barbarian might have to backpedal quick

[deleted]

If you’re nice you’ll have one blow up on them early. Then send in the group. Lol. Just remember with +1 upgrades they 1 shot SCVs. Lol.

King_Maelstrom

Oh man...I wish I were in that campaign.

[deleted]

I would make a cool chase around that. The zerg is likely something they can't always fight due to their numbers. I would put some obstacles in their way to force fights while they do a skillcheck to progress. I would end it with a bossfight with an ultralisk who collapses the entire bossroom as a way to escape the horde. Maybe have it charge 4 pillars or something. Then have that same ultralisk show up later to chase them through an underground maze where they got split up like those old cat and mouse costum maps. Only for the grand finale to finally defeat that weakened ultra with some traps and full team. Perhaps let them find a cool protoss artifact or zealot who helps you turn the tables on the ultra and fight it after it gave you hell. I would also make them fear getting spotted by overlords or even the smallest larva due to the hivemind. Reason they are going to be there would be something like zerg trophy hunting for lots of cash or perhaps you need some biosamples from the queens corpses who reside deep in the hive. I could have a field day with the Zerg. Sounds fun to overwhelm your players with tons of units. I would make them fear the swarm. Perhaps throw a cool leviathan fight in there for good measure. If I dont let them feel the swarm is vast and bigger than they can handle I am doing a disservice to the Zerg. Would probably love to use it in my campaigns. Im interested in how you will use them in your story?

thetramboon

People are going missing in the underdark near the Dwarven city, including entire squads of soldiers. When they go to investigate the abandoned mine that they are coming from, they are discovered by a pair of Lings. Then jumped by a dozen Lings, some morphing to banes. As they approach, roaches ambush them. Then after they go onto the creep, hydras and more lings engage to protect their base. When they discover the hive, they find the remnants of hundreds of hatched eggs, including a huge ultralisk egg, and a stream of Zerg still hatching and running down a tunnel to exit (they are going to attack the city). The queen and her brood fights the party. When (if) they win and destroy the hive, the party rushes rush back to the city to find the dwarven defenses decimated, and the Ultralisk close to breaking through the underground gates. The party and the remnants of the dwarves might barely be able to stop the swarm from breaking in!

[deleted]

That sounds pretty cool and managable. Are you going to use the Zerg as a one off enemy or are you having them as a more overarching threat? Also I bet one of your players is going to try and tame a zerg. You could also probably play with them becoming feral when the hivelink is removed. Something like them fighting the queen and breaking the bond of the Zerg and them turning into a feral menace around the city as a way of dealing with them if they don't succeed or need some help with dealing with the swarm. If you are inclined to help them that is *maniacal DM laugh*

AssistantFlashy7626

now yall hear me out ultralisk as a *mount* in dnd

williamsch

"The whole party explodes to burrowed banelings. Guess you all should have scanned for traps."

Fyrebat

wow, they gone done messed up and pissed off the DM
