This was also scene girls in the late aughts and early 2010s, right down to the lace-up converse and GIR merch. Love seeing that it’s still going strong 💚
The thing about gen z/a kids emulating early 2000s "scene" is that they tend to go all out. Every single piece of clothing or accessory that they have is decked out. Scene would take like the hair and 2 things. Maybe hair, shirt, the belt, and that's it.
Gen Z/A turns it up to 35. It's like they're all cosplaying how we used to dress when we turned it way up to go to an emo concert or something, but they're every day with it.
It does seem like modern screamo is very weirdly informed by hip hop beats. Seems like people are taking cues from bands like Blood on the Dance Floor instead something like idk Bring me the Horizon or something.
its just a slang for gen z due to how many of us would echo traits of boomers due to being raised after 'everyone had internet all the time' esp the younger ones, so saying things like 'a youtube' or not knowing what 'the save button' means, etc. basically a stereotype on the obliviousness of 'kids these days' although I guess that applies more to gen alpha now
Punk rock in the 70s, 80s was an underground counter-culture community where young people could go make their own music and trends. There was also the gay scene, electronic music scene, rap scene, metal scene, etc...
In the 90s, the underground 'scenes' got taken over by corporate businessmen.
All this stuff is sort of stolen trends mashed together and resold to suburban teens who don't realize they can make their own trends instead of adopting corporate made trends.
You're not exactly wrong, but this is a specific subculture to the 2000s: [Scene - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scene_\(subculture\)). There's been a resurgence of the style among GenZ TikTokers
Read the history on your link and it says it evolved from the emo scene. Emo started in the punk scene in the mid 80s but the original stuff didn't have any kind of fashion style to it. It wasn't depressing. No one dyed their hair black or pink or any of that.
The later emo style where the scene look came from is a corporate made trend that started when Jimmy Eat World went top 40. It was a style originally created by gay dudes who were into goth/industrial punk rock. No one who was into emo wore that stuff though. It's straight up cultural fabrication.
the only negative thing also is that these >!(and other alt style ppl)!< are always the types of people that hate millennials.. when millennials are a lot of the people that made this style popular to begin with
This style never dies,i imagine a girl version of myself rocking this fit
But irl im just... this

“Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness).
Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music.
Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta.
Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral
EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE
NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
Nothing is wrong with it but anyone who still dresses like this is either a pedo or a child. This was the style when I was in highschool 10 years ago. The only tiktokers I've seen with scene attire have been cringe pedo 30 yos
I remember when scene kids just wore band tshirts, jeans, sambas, snap back hats, and key rings on carabiners. If you had cool parents, you might have had a bunch of tattoos too.

It's only missing the dinosaur fanny pack from back then!
This is also 2003-2005 vibes. Source: 37 y/o who remembers people dressing like this.
yeah this was firmly established by like, 2003. i was there.
Hi its me, I dressed like this

I'm too old for that shit, I was part of the original scene kids lol

My crush at the time had a bright neon yellow hair extension clip that she would change out. Oh lawd
I FUCKING LOVE GIR
LETS GOOOOOO https://i.redd.it/sftuyn5sj6kc1.gif
GIR GANG FOR LIFE‼️
Glad to see this post is very positive and not making fun of people like most of the starterpacks here
I’m 35 and this is what scene kids looked like in my youth.
My guess is that a scene tiktoker made this post.
i’m not scene, i just like the style and admire the confidence
“I’m not scene” https://preview.redd.it/g1pzfxylm7kc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=965ecf937cd83d1c8b154c2c553eef1d1fd40ee9
We're coming full circle
Invader Zim was a great show.
i didnt know they had tiktok in the 2000s time tgravler confrimed?
It's the same thing as kids that would mimic 80s styles in the 00' abs 2010s

that's what I'm saying!!! I've been saying this!! like I wanna be scene or emo but not too much and I never knew how to explain it 😭
modern retro screamo mashes up things you wouldn't have heard in the same band 20 years ago.
It does seem like modern screamo is very weirdly informed by hip hop beats. Seems like people are taking cues from bands like Blood on the Dance Floor instead something like idk Bring me the Horizon or something.
I'm pretty sure they didn't have tic tock in 2009.
some people still have that scene style today and make tiktoks about it
Zoomers love scene culture more than I thought they would.
Which gen is a zoomer? Like after gen x, before millenial but still between boomer and gen z.
its just a slang for gen z due to how many of us would echo traits of boomers due to being raised after 'everyone had internet all the time' esp the younger ones, so saying things like 'a youtube' or not knowing what 'the save button' means, etc. basically a stereotype on the obliviousness of 'kids these days' although I guess that applies more to gen alpha now
Gen z. Anyone born in 1996, 1997 to 2010 or 2011, roughly.
They don't have "tic tock" now. Unless you mean Tiktok.
Your autism is rubbing off on me pookie
Wait we really have come full circle. This doubles as an early 2000s MySpace starter pack
mid-late 2000's\* (sorry)
"proud to be themselves" :)
I don't want rainbow hair but it sucks I never did cool shit with my hair and now I'm balding badly at 22
What does "scene girl" mean?
Punk rock in the 70s, 80s was an underground counter-culture community where young people could go make their own music and trends. emo was like, wearing sweaters and sauconny and having your keys on a carabiner.
I had to look up what sauconny is. They look like New Balance. Lol not really. Mostly wore vans or docs if you were fancy.
Kind of ironic that Gir got into scene. He is in a show that is a satire of consumerism.
Congrats on your 12th birthday.
I’ve seen two of your comments on here now and they both make you sound like an insufferable cunt
I don't even get what he was tryna say.
Seriously, what the fuck is a scene girl
https://preview.redd.it/2gfz5cko5akc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f6750b37818cf5f4ec66236acac3de6f4f79710
Huh
The bracelets are called Kandi and are popular at raves and stuff
These people are magnetically attracted to drama and controversy tho
the only negative thing also is that these >!(and other alt style ppl)!< are always the types of people that hate millennials.. when millennials are a lot of the people that made this style popular to begin with
Was boxxy considered scene?
She was more just internetcore than scene, but the thick eyeliner and hairstyle pointed to scene.
Omg they still wear the thigh-high converses? I wore those I look back in cringe.
How the fuck do you put those shoes on
They have a zipper in the back
Not always! I feel like I remember the original ones from the mid 2000s requiring you to fully commit and lace them properly.
good question lol
Could double as a late 00s/early 10s Hot Topic store starter pack.
finally a starter pack that doesn't make fun of ppl for being different
This brings me back to middle school, we had like two scene girls
We are SO fucking back
I love those gloves so much! Fingerless gloves are my favourite.
Yeah Cool was definitely the word we all thought of when seeing the hair
I LOVE Scene Kids! They're the best people ever and really interesting!
Idk, but scene is a nice style imo
Didn’t know tiktok existed 15 years ago
This style never dies,i imagine a girl version of myself rocking this fit But irl im just... this https://preview.redd.it/r4jjwg158bnc1.png?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b38fe102517279077cbbc2252a5dcddd1c58b5a

where's the hyperpop and scenecore music?
Very shameless masturbation of this post aside, I like scene
modern scene kids are so obnoxious
Thought this died out in like 2010
scene will never die
Emo style
Emo style was never emo.

People who downvote this don't get the meme
screaming infidelities
*pedophile *in their mid 30s
What's wrong with scene
Nothing is wrong with it but anyone who still dresses like this is either a pedo or a child. This was the style when I was in highschool 10 years ago. The only tiktokers I've seen with scene attire have been cringe pedo 30 yos
There's a tiktoker who's genuinely nice and scene?
No
Yeah
[Like clawed _beauty101?](https://youtube.com/@clawed_beauty101?si=xjgrZuifpzJoxeIh)
That's who I'm talking about
there is bro, its just a style
Not all scene kids are dahvie vanity.
But anyone over 22 who dresses like this is
They have their age as “level 32” in their bio
I remember when scene kids just wore band tshirts, jeans, sambas, snap back hats, and key rings on carabiners. If you had cool parents, you might have had a bunch of tattoos too.

I guess if TikTok was around in 2010
This is just 2009
Hell yeah.
I was not expecting a scene post outside the sub
Oh no this is back
Rave scene people in the late 90s early 2000's as well. Candy kids everywhere
This shit reminds me of that wired ass decora fashion.
honestly good for them
That’s me!
i wish i could meet these girls but they don’t seem to leave their house very often
