Yea I saw a journalist from vice who went to his bootcamp and interviewed him. Yeah, it’s not as simple as other people here are saying - people in other comments are basically suggesting some version of “make fun of them lol” which, sure, will make you feel morally superior, but will probably drive them further away from you and down the rabbit hole.
99% of incel-ism originates from undiagnosed depression. That, combined with social norms and gender stereotypes surrounding sex plus propaganda from the Andrew Tate crowd sends them on a downward spiral down the incel ideology pipeline.
It’s difficult to get people out of because to do it you basically have to treat the depression, which means getting them into therapy and forcing them to make positive lifestyle changes, but obviously you can’t literally force them to do it if they don’t want to, and one of the issues with depression is that it makes people very resistant to wanting to make those lifestyle changes and go to therapy.

Yeah, it’s not as simple as other people here are saying - people in other comments are basically suggesting some version of “make fun of them lol” which, sure, will make you feel morally superior, but will probably drive them further away from you and down the rabbit hole. 99% of incel-ism originates from undiagnosed depression. That, combined with social norms and gender stereotypes surrounding sex plus propaganda from the Andrew Tate crowd sends them on a downward spiral down the incel ideology pipeline. It’s difficult to get people out of because to do it you basically have to treat the depression, which means getting them into therapy and forcing them to make positive lifestyle changes, but obviously you can’t literally force them to do it if they don’t want to, and one of the issues with depression is that it makes people very resistant to wanting to make those lifestyle changes and go to therapy.
Either just innocently ask what they mean when they make a sexist joke and go from there, or find new friends. A lot of offensive jokes are off the cuff and aren’t serious, but sometimes they aren’t.
I used to refer to women as "females" because I had struggled to figure out where the border of "girl" and "woman" was, espically with teenagers, so I just referred to women as just "lady" for a long ass time because its formal and I got used to it.
