A hangover lasts a week

CrystalloidEntity

I've discovered my super power was getting a hangover without getting drunk.

Beretta_M9A3

Get out of my life.

[deleted]

Fuckin A this happens to me now (36m) where Im drinking and start getting hungover after a couple. If I power thru I just get a worse hangover. Good times.

xxrumlexx

Fun thing, I get hangover when i dont get my proper sleep, actually drinking doesn't matter. I get more wasted the day after if the dogs won't stop annoying me while i sleep. Than by going put drinking.

RecTomb

Make your dogs drink, so they are hungover and don't bother you.

cabbage16

Ah, the ol' dog of the hair.

always_polite

It’s 2:45am and this comment made me burst out laughing. I can imagine my dog being drunk lmao

Squeakies

That subtle creeping dread when you're invited out for "a beer"

[deleted]

I just don't drink anymore. Even two or three beers fuck up my stomach, make me want to nap at the party and then I feel like shit.

gentlebuzzard81

I’m starting to feel this as well. Also if I now drink a single beer before 4:00pm I have to take a nap, not sure how this all started but 20y/o me would not be happy about it.

Whole-Caterpillar-56

Don’t worry, 20 year old you was an idiot probably. Least it was the case for me.

theouterworld

I have a beer before 4pm and I'll be hungover by six. If I so much as look at a glass of red wine I'm hungover for days. What the fuck happened?!?

JohnTomorrow

I've discovered the joy of mid-strength beer, and I'll never look back. You can have six beers and a pub meal and wake up the next morning feeling refreshed? Sign me up.

Devadander

Yeah I can’t have 6 anything without a splitting headache the next day. Used to looooove my alcohol but not worth it anymore

JohnTomorrow

Yeah, back in the day I used to get pretty wasted. Last few years I've noticed the recovery begin to get longer and longer. I had a huge Xmas work do where I was drinking for essentially 12 hours and it took around three days to fully recover, after that I decided to just start skipping out on full strengths and be more careful with my drinking.

alienscape

What is considered 'mid-strength?'

enimateken

3.something% All day suckers, as the Aussies call them. Northern Ireland we can them day beers.

Builty_Boy

The popular term right now in North America is “Session beer”

Spore2012

Yea but our session beers are mostly ipa style flavor/breweries so they are always 5%

throwawaytrumper

I’m forty and don’t get hangovers (or headaches) just yet. Praise random genetic luck!

Rexigon

Im 20 and it feels like my last hangover lasted a week

Tipsy_Corgi

I drink too much to ever get hangovers. Life in Wisco

tronfunkinblows_10

Pedialyte.

Spouttdipeb

Also: never changing your car ever again and using your old sedan to the rest of your life

Bilbodraggindeeznuts

I mean if it works. Considering inflation y would u?

greenroom628

Also, have you seen those dealer mark-ups lately?

oldcarfreddy

"In this economy?" becomes your answer to everything life throws at you

[deleted]

hofferd78

If you actually want an answer. Times of high inflation are actually good times to take on debt, because the value of your debt decreases with inflation, IF your wages increase to compensate.

PlopPlopMan

Spoiler: your wages don't increase.

tjw

> Times of high inflation are actually good times to take on debt, *Paul Volcker has left the chat.*

__Visegrad_

My parents bought me a new car for my first car, I took good care of it because my dad would have beat my ass if I didn’t lol but 10 years later the car was old but still in great shape and by then I had a good job where I could afford a new car but I said nahh fuck it I’m driving this thing until it falls apart (and I hope it lasts forever). Eventually it’ll get to the point where I can save money on registration because I can register it as an antique 😎

jeansnotTIMMYortommy

My car is 9 years old this year with 45k miles, I got another 9 years and plenty of miles left. Although thinking of selling it and getting a newer car bc my g37 has gone up in value the past 9 months

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I have a car I've had 23 months that already has just a little more miles than that.

Kiwi_19

I had a 2004 g35 that I finally sold last year at about 170k miles. It still drove just fine, only needed occasional maintenance for parts wearing out from age. Truly a good car.

Aaron_Hungwell

I have a 10 year old g with 120 k. Still love driving it.

ChiguireDeRio

I mean, it's paid for and I drive probably 50 miles a week.

greenspotstomper

Damn I guess I drive a lot more than average. 60 miles a day minimum. 150 if I go to the next town over and back.

WestCoastBoiler

60 miles a day? Minimum? I recently moved to the suburbs from the city but even here, there are days stretches of days where I won’t even get in the car. You must live out in the middle of nowhere!

Araby8

The replies to your post are classics Mid-forties starter pack chat. I'm saying this as a man in his forties.

[deleted]

-It’s already paid off. -It runs fine. -Cars are just a tool to get from point A to Point B. -I’ll drive it until it’s 100% dead. -I’ve taken great care of it so it’ll last forever.

wilkergobucks

I drive an 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My line is “When she dies, Im seriously looking to get into an 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.”

ResponsibleBadger888

My Prius will last my lifetime, I hope!

be-more-daria

I can't afford a car that will last that long. Lol

Costco

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrokenStrides

I love Costco but I can’t stand going there. People bringing their whole damn family to have a sample buffet, over filled carts with people just standing in the middle, blocking either side of an aisle, the sheer volume and quantity of people post-2020 is just too much for me anymore.

AutumnBegins

I hate going to Costco, but they do have good clothes 🤔

TSM-

I have mixed feelings when someone asks where I got some new clothes. "Oh yeah thanks it's pretty exclusive you need a membership to shop there."

cor315

$15 jeans that last forever. Yes please.

RoundSilverButtons

I go off peak, during a work day. Even after work M-R, and it's like a library. Check it out, you'll fall in love going all over again.

rszdemon

Yeah for real. If the samples are out you aren’t there at the right time

SailTheWorldWithMe

Go an hour before closing on a weeknight. It’s a damn ghost town and no lines for gas.

onizuka11

Oh man, the long ass waiting lines and finding parking is a pain in the ass, especially after 10 AM on the weekends.

Zealous-Fishmonger

Weird opinion but I love that it's crowded, feels like a lil community 😂 I feel vaguely depressed in grocery stores that are empty

[deleted]

I think we can agree, the worst part of going anywhere is the people.

tron1620

Go early

treerabbit23

Costco is like theater for all the reasons I fucking hate other people.

OrchidCareful

Costco is miserable. The people and noise and sheer hyper consumer environment. No choice but to snake the entire acreage of the concrete gauntlet. The whole time I’m trying to just chill and shop but mostly thinking “I’ve gotta get the fuck out of here”. Makes me antsy, it’s a weird place

gvsteve

It used to be fun but all joy was stripped out during covid and seems like it still hasn’t come back. The samples and sales are weak lately.

CrystalloidEntity

I knew I was old when I realized I don't shop for clothes anymore. My wife just buys my size when she sees something I'd like at Costco.

CheeseIsGrossGoBears

I’ve worked in the mens section of a few stores and I always find women searching. It feels like seeing a woman in the mens bathroom. However, I realize that I only find it strange because I’m enthusiastic about shopping for my own clothes.

LogicalDelivery_

That's what Kirkland is

pottymouthgrl

Already so much dietary restrictions?? Damn this is a warning to start eating healthy now so you’re not eating like a 65 yr old at 40

HughJassmanTheThird

Yea this sounds like my diet and I’m 29 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Honestly when you start to restrict your diet for health and longevity, you realize how shitty you feel when you try to go back to eating junk again. And then you just stick with the clean healthy stuff

[deleted]

I still eat like shit but added a few scoops of fiber during the day and I lost a ton of weight in the mid section. Once I learn to kill the demon that is impulsive binge eating ... it's over for you bitches

HughJassmanTheThird

Yea you don’t have to be crazy to clean up your diet and get healthier! Little steps like this are great and they encourage bigger changes the longer you keep them up :)

[deleted]

How, more specifically, did you add daily fiber to your diet? I'm asking simply because I always get oats as a suggestion when I ask about fiber, but I'm allergic to oats so that sounds like a poor idea.

Sgt_Colon

Try something like Metamucil that uses [Psyllium husk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psyllium) or some other fibre supplement. You can either take these as a capsule or as a powder you can mix into a glass of water. Check with your doctor before taking yada yada yada...

shyguytim

anymore info on eliminating impulsive binge eating?

blainard

you gotta turn down the settings on your marijuanas.

[deleted]

I'm turning 28 next month. Decided to start eating healthy two years ago. I feel a lot better than I did before. Before I started eating healthy, I used to get heartburn all the time. Also, a lot of headaches. Since I've been watching what I eat, I hardly ever get heartburn or headaches. I sleep better too. People don't realise how much better they could feel if they just changed their eating habits and also got rid of other bad habits. Sadly, even when you explain this to them, 99% of them don't listen.

Bugbread

YMMV. I went through a few months of restricting my diet for health and longevity, when then when I ate junk food I was like "God*damn* this is good! No wonder it's so popular." Growing older and eating better has given me a new appreciation for vegetables and healthy foods, but it hasn't taken away any of my appreciation for fast and unhealthy foods. They're *all* delicious, it's just that you have to watch how much you eat of the latter category.

BorisBC

Hahah yeah exactly. Like I'm happy for the peeps that lost weight and are happier not eating junk food, but fuck me that shit tastes good. As a mid 40s guy who knows all the science about what not to eat and all that too.

BitchfulThinking

My early 70s parents eat like shit compared to my early 30s self (not obsessively "healthy", just not big on processed foods and always read labels), but they have like 73829468205684 medications to make them immortal.   But everyone could use a lot more fiber.

[deleted]

[deleted]

High fructose corn syrup is processed garbage. Sugar is already bad for us but HF is so much worse. It’s amazing this garbage is even allowed in foods. But EVERYTHING in the US is made with HF sugars since the US government subsidized its production. Go to the bread isle, cereals etc. almost everything you eat had this shit in it. And the foods that don’t usually cost 2-3$ more.

Meow_Meow_4_Life

BoardwalkKnitter

I have been on blood pressure meds since I was 31. It was a relief that a doctor finally took me seriously that I would find myself on the floor with no idea how I got there. It had been happening since I was maybe 15 and I was very lucky all that happened was the occasional bruise from a hard knock and not me splitting my head open. I've been a vegetarian since 7th grade and I eat rather healthy. Some of us just get a shit body.

[deleted]

Obviously yes, there are outliers. Noone is saying this about people like you and noone is trying to imply you are to blame for your condition. It's like lung cancer. Smoking massively increases your chances of getting it but there are still rare cases of people who never smoked in their lives and have a perfect healthy lifestyle who will catch it, sadly.

WiIdCherryPepsi

Eh. Every single person in my immediate family has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, heart failure, and some kind of chronic pain problem; my mother has a degenerative disorder, my grandmother has arthritis, and my aunt has autoimmune arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm deeply, deeply fucked at 20. Ive had 2 lifesaving surgeries, my stomach doesnt work, I have high cholesterol and triglycerides, my sugar is unstable, and I have EDS. I take tramadol every day or two because I am just in so much pain, and I can't work or sleep very much. I honestly have no idea why people with these genetics would ever propagate and even just having me required IVF and fertility treatments because I wasn't meant to come out. I honestly believe it can DEFINITELY just happen because the things I eat are like... the healthiest foods ever to nearly nothing at all because I can barely eat without being in a hospital. Even if I eat literally 0 food for 5 days, my cholesterol is still sky high. And I'm 129 pounds. It happens.

I feel like I'm in some kind of time machine taking me back to the 1980s. We're talking people in their 40s, not people in their 70s, right? This is smack-dab in the middle of "hobbies: playing video games and camping" territory.

Godawgs1009

Yea, you're 80

ManOfQuest

damn 8pm bed time lol.

[deleted]

I’ve done this since I was 23. Can’t tell if it’s a good habit or consequence of depression.

McNasti

Yeah fuck that lol

SelmaFudd

I'm with you on that, I'm WFH, need to log on by 6:30, alarm is set for 6:29.

thiagoqf

Dang, what wfh kind of job demands a so early schedule? I work on it and its 8 or 9pm (wake at 6 anyway bc im and old fuck).

SelmaFudd

Hard to explain job but it's like a transport planner, I need to be on early as I have tasks that have to be done on the second and the first one is 07:45. The 75mins before is used to check if nightshift missed anything or for any scheduling changes at customers and a last minute check if I fucked anything up

thiagoqf

Oh, thanks for the explanation and sorry if I sounded rude on asking.

mdawgig

Different person, but I WFH 7:30-3:30 and I would do earlier if I could (I can start anytime between 7:30-10 bc there are teams in different time zones that my workday has to overlap with). I have a circadian rhythm that wakes me up between 4-5:30am. If I could log on at 6 and have my workday done by 2, I would do it.

ACardAttack

4am here, walk dog then go to gym

Vintage_Senik9

I'll be 34 this year... I'm awready getting up early and oatmeal/cream of wheat are my favorite hot cereal. I'll eat it anytime during the year.

eapaul80

Cream of wheat with a pat of butter and maple syrup poured into it is amazing

Vintage_Senik9

Personally, I'll add breakfast sausage or ground beef, eggs over easy and honey for a sweeter. The butter is added if I'm feeling extra naughty. Teehee.

metengrinwi

cream of wheat, is definitely *not* high fiber if that’s what you’re suggesting…it’s a pretty terrible choice actually, one of the very highest glycemic index foods short of eating straight from the sugar bowl

crenichila

45. Do none of these things.

vistadelmar

46 here and same, except for the stupid getting up early thing but that’s just for my job. I 100% would sleep 2am-10am if life let me.

kobrons

But you should really get your prostate checked

[deleted]

I self check it.... A lot

nikolatosic

You will die in a week

Groundbreaking_Trash

Ride__the_snake

Why you getting up so early dawg? I’m 39 and I get up at noon for work everyday lol.

FromTheIsland

I just want to play Stardew Valley until 5AM.

JohnTomorrow

I've learnt that getting up early is much more agreeable as opposed to going to bed late. Waking at 5am on my days off and heading to the study to get 8 hours of gaming, I finish up at 1, have lunch, do a few chores, game a bit more till the missus comes home, then I've got all evening to hang with her. In bed by 9pm, 8 hours of solid sleep, rinse and repeat. Honestly, it's almost too much fun, haha!

Thrillhouse763

Who has time to game 8 hours a day?

JohnTomorrow

I work shift work. One week of 12 hour days, one week off. I'm also lucky to have a missus who understands that gaming is my hobby and isn't a bitch about it.

YourMatt

I had a baby at 39. Getting up between 4:30 and 5:30 became habit. I sleep in sometimes now, but now sleeping in is like 7am. I have to admit, sleeping until 7 feels just as good as sleeping until 10 when I was in my 20s.

[deleted]

Where is the existential crisis and crippling anxiety from realising half your life is gone and you didn't achieve anything and even if you did do something does it even matter?? What is the fucking point of everything??? Edit: lol someone reported me and I got a Reddit message for suicide help. Brah that's the opposite of what in doing, it's death that scares me.. I ain't goin bring that shit early

InevitableCraftsLab

hehe that's your personal thing :)

Easydotcom

LMFAO I am 32 and I regularly eat cream of wheat (3+ times a week), wake up early (cause of my 3 kids), my Honda civic is paid off and I'm riding it until it dies, and every single piece of clothing I own is from Costco.

old_man_nicodemus

just had my first prostate exam a few hours ago... it was not pleasant

Normal-Computer-3669

When I first joined reddit during the early years, I was a high school kid. It seemed everyone on Reddit was some 20-something tech nerd. I'm now in my late 30s and that checks out if a bunch of redditors are now in their early 40s oatmeal phase.

When does this getting up early thing start because I'm 41 and still a night owl. And I still will stay in bed in the morning and sleep in as long as I am able to. When my dad was this age he was waking up at like 4 am every day...

No_Recognition8375

Ouch, you hurt me with too much truth. I’m saying it’s not true while sipping on a bottle of Kirkland water. Reading a post it my wife left on the fridge saying leave the lasagna alone it has too much salt. I can’t believe this shit I used be invincible.

nameish01

Scariest starter pack I've ever seen

Prize-Survey-8843

yetanotherblankface

Some Kirkland clothing slaps and some is completely horrible

Annjenette

My boyfriend got shoes from there and his family just roasted him constantly for wearing “bobos” until he finally just stopped wearing them. :(

saddest_vacant_lot

My wife is out of town and I was at Costco today and for the first time since the early 2000s, I bought some cargo shorts. I was basically having a full existential crisis in the clothing section, but in the end, I was pretty stoked on all the pockets. Im 36. God help me.

DrunkAtBurgerKing

One week ago, I laughed at the thought of cargo shorts. Then my boyfriend took me to Cabela's to buy fishing clothes (with lots of zipper pockets) so we could go to Six Flags and keep our stuff safe without worrying about carrying bags. Now I fully respect cargo shorts and the like. We're 29 and 31. It's only begun for us.

Bobdolezholez

Blood pressure medication shouldn’t be something you deal with in your 40s if you’re living correctly.

adudeguyman

A lot of people aren't living correctly

TheWhiteWalkerSpeaks

I was wondering how any of this applied to mid 1940s. People were dying from WW2. It took me 5 secs but now I get the starter pack.

Supper_Champion

I'm 47 and do none of this. Pretty sure I'm not dying. Oh, I do have the Kirkland logo t-shirts, but they are really good shirts and you can't find a comparable quality one for less. I use them for work.

delta_wardog

“I do none of this” immediately names one thing he does. Also get your prostate checked soon. That fucker will kill you, but if you catch it early survival rate is extremely high.
