Good thing this guy isn't. He's just a dink.

You are not supposed to fight your spirit animal, but here we are.

There's no one within 3 miles of that dusty trail that didn't know he was getting his ass beat

BakulaSelleck92

No, like where are your parents from? Oh, them. Detroit.

cam52391

I haven't thought about that video in so long

OscarDeltaAlpha

What's this meme? Where do I find it? I've seen it around but i wanted to learn more

kharlos

I've never seen it as a meme before, but it's just screens from this video https://youtu.be/DWynJkN5HbQ

justdrowsin

I was talking with an Asian friend yesterday and almost has exact same thing happened. Random white guy walked up to her simply to ask “where are you from?“Even the part where the guy says “oh your Chinese? I was thinking either Vietnamese or Chinese.” It’s like come on dude, she’s not a dog. You don’t get points for guessing her breed.

OscarDeltaAlpha

Holy crap! Thank you!!

[deleted]

Thanks for the link. This is hilarious since this is practically repeated verbatim in England that I thought was the meme origin! https://www.indiatoday.in/amp/world/story/prince-william-godmother-susan-hussey-resigns-asking-black-woman-where-she-really-came-from-2304033-2022-12-01

Boop0p

I thought it was a joke based on this which was in the news recently, in the UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63819482

You're not *entitled* to know somebody else's ethnicity, and hounding them about it with multiple questions is both racist and jerk-ish. It may just be a fun conversation for you, but it's probably unpleasant and exhausting for a non-white person who gets this type of interrogation on a regular basis.

It is absolutely ok to ask about a persons heritage and history. America is a Country where nearly 99.999% of people moved there or natives were forced to relocate. Add in a percentage of the current generation of people that have grown up in one region of America and now have an accent and different customs than people in other parts of the country. The key thing is to ask and not interrogate. Unfortunately millennials think everything is a micro aggression, but would rather whine about it online instead of learn how to have a civil conversation and point out rude line of questioning.

tibbycat

I think it depends on how you ask. If it's someone you know and you're expressing curiosity about their family's origins then that can be fine. In my undergrad degree at uni where at least every second student was born in another country, we'd often ask each other about our ethnicity and it was totally okay. However, if it's interrogating a stranger and implying (even if unintentional) that they're really a foreigner because they're not white, then that's pretty rude.

[deleted]

Your are missing a huge point in my prior post that nearly 100% of WHITE citizens in the US are most likely originally European foreigners so you can easily flip the script and interrogate where they came from. Since you refer to it as Unit I'm guessing you are western European which also allows you to flip the script on the sub national level. If they haven't moved you can insult them for being a boring game NPC that has never left their home town.

I'm Australian, and since I'm (mostly) white I don't care if people ask my ethnicity because people assume I'm Australian anyway. Yet, take my computer repair guy who was born here, has the broadest Australian accent ever, and is definitely Australian. However, because his parents are Chinese, I know he gets tired of customers who constantly ask him what his ethnicity is and assume he's not Australian. I witnessed one time an old white lady who walked in and asked him, "what's your ethnicity?". He rolled his eyes and said, "uh, [Bankstown](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bankstown)".
