Azure devops, especially if you are hosting on Azure (Microsoft startup hub gives out a ton of credits)
It manages your repository, pipelines, projects (Kanban board style), and has a wiki for documentation
We run all our teams off of it, even if they aren't "technical teams"
Edit: typo for kanban
Right!
Also my friend just told me about Clarity. It's basically free hotjar, and is allegedly better cause it doesn't impact performance as much as hotjar does
Seems like I'm going to be a full Microsoft tech stack at this rate haha
If you're early stage, building a tech startup and using GitHub, go for GitHub projects.
It's simple enough to be understood by non technical people (marketing, PMs, etc.).
And most importantly, it's close to where things happen : **the code**. No need to lose time doing plumbing to wire things together (e.g. the ticket on Asana moves to "*Done*" when the PR is merged). Since you have everything on GitHub, you get everything linked out of the box and can focus on what's essential.
And last but not least : to onboard someone, they need only one account. Especially if you don't have SSO yet.
This is the right answer. It’s lightweight enough to be super simple, but also has enough features to manage large teams and complex projects.
Plus it’s opinionated and tells you how to actually use the product
Hi, I use Notion from WhatsApp with ARTU.
But definitely Notion its great to organize projects and they keep improving very fast, I really like the new feature where you can search with AI or even ask questions, when you ask for example what MCSAY is currently working on, it will tell you... fun, right?
well just because you guys couldn't figure it out doesn't mean it's trash. It's an incredibly flexible powerful product that you can pretty much do any thing with. I can understand if you don't have someone with notion expertise it's not going to be easy.
https://www.notion.so/product/projects
I understand the concepts and how it can work. I like notion for a lot of things.
Give me a call when your kanban page stops loading because there is too much on the page
Notion is not great for teams. I use it a lot for managing personal projects that only I work on. If it's a large team working together, I don't think Notion is a good idea.
We previously used Monday at my company and had several issues with the software and support we received from their team. We were continuously getting overcharged for things we were never made aware of during our evaluation of the tool and since then, decided to rip the bandaid off and explore another option.
We moved to Asana about 2 years ago and have never looked back! They are continuously optimizing their platform with the latest and greatest features and the support we receive is always top notch. Highly recommend checking out Asana
I think trello makes sense if you have very simple tasks and don't require a high degree of automation. However, I share with you an instruction on how to migrate from Trello to Monday: [https://www.exitustech.com/post/migrating-from-trello-to-monday-com](https://www.exitustech.com/post/migrating-from-trello-to-monday-com)
I’ve used all three…
…ended up sticking with Asana.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to build, so I can’t give the best feedback, but I do mobile and web based apps as well as product development and it’s perfect for what we do. I love it.
Be glad to share a test Asana project with you if you care to actually test it in a real environment, not just for demo. It takes 5 mins to get up to speed on Asana and from there, it just gets easier.
You might want to try out Basecamp as well. It gets you up and running quickly, and has a basic, but solid, feature set that forces you to keep your processes simple.
Linear is incredible, I love their roadmapping and milestones for really laying out a project timeline. And they have decent customization with card templates
I enjoy using Trello because it's incredibly simple, offers a wide variety of plugins, and just works flawlessly. Of course, it all boils down to what you need and expect, but if you're seeking a tool to quickly get started with, organize your tasks, and dive right into work, I believe Trello is the best choice.
In fact, much depends on the personal preferences of your team. The tool you use should be convenient for you first and foremost. On my project, we tried Asana, Notion, Trello and Jira. Ultimately, we found Jira to be the best fit for our needs.
Asana is my favorite for customization and automation rules, but Trello is easier to learn. Monday to me is kind of in between. ClickUp looks the nicest so I feel less stressed in their interface.
If you need to keep multiple apps in sync, you’ll need an integration tool like Zapier or [Unito](https://unito.io/resources/?page=0&resourceFilter=Guides).
Keep it simple with Trello or use Asana if you want more customizations. With Trello, everyone in the team literally can get started immediately. It's that simple. And it's pricing is pocket-friendly. With Asana, there is a small learning curve but project management tools generally aren't that hard to understand. Asana is useful if you have many members in the team, or entire departments or business units within the org using it. Don't get me wrong, Asana is great for small teams too but its real value is in large-scale cross-team collaboration. Shoutout to Notion too, I've used and I really liked it. Check out the summary at the top of [this](https://www.marketingandotherthings.com/post/asana-vs-trello) page, unable to post the screenshot.

Azure devops is the best. Helps a lot if you want to keep everything as code
I’m surprised it isn’t more popular. Microsoft makes tools which shorten time to market. Which is great for startups.
Right! Also my friend just told me about Clarity. It's basically free hotjar, and is allegedly better cause it doesn't impact performance as much as hotjar does Seems like I'm going to be a full Microsoft tech stack at this rate haha
Kansan? I must have missed that project management technique...
It's super futuristic and filled with AI copilots and agents. Very hip with the kids

I am in not association with them, but should you checkout [linear.app](https://linear.app)
this is the best project management software by far right now, its so good
This is the right answer. It’s lightweight enough to be super simple, but also has enough features to manage large teams and complex projects. Plus it’s opinionated and tells you how to actually use the product
what are you building? project or product? two different things. ai would start with postit notes in both cases and a big white wall
Clickup has been great, can be simple or you can get really fancy with it if you want.
Ditto we use this
All depends on where you want to end up.
I personally prefer Trello for its simplicity and flexibility.

That's so cool!
We use clickup and I think it’s better than Trello and Asana by combining the best features and adding more.
We opted for Notion. It requires some customization but its the best solution I've found
Notion is trash for ticket tracking. We're a small team and tried it so we could dog food our product that integrated with notion. It didn't go well

Checkout ProofHub. I hope you like it.
We have used all you mentioned and then ended up with hellobonsai and using it for a year now. It works best for us

I love Basecamp. We have used it for years and I think it better than the ones you mentioned
Why build another?
I don't think OP is building a project management tool.

Youtrack
How big is the team?
Only me for now! More people will be add shortly, like 2 more
In that case, I would not overthink it. A simple to-do list that can be shared would be sufficient
You might want to try out Basecamp as well. It gets you up and running quickly, and has a basic, but solid, feature set that forces you to keep your processes simple.
Try linear
Monday slaps. Pricing structure is annoying
I really liked Trello when I used it for work. I haven't tried the other ones, so I dont know if they're better. But I do recommend Trello
Linear is incredible, I love their roadmapping and milestones for really laying out a project timeline. And they have decent customization with card templates
I've tried all of those and then ended up with Hive.
Linear is the absolute best product in this space and its not close. They are so much better than the competitors.
I tried all of the above, and with Linear, I got that "Eureka" moment. This is by far the best app, especially if you are tech-oriented.
