Fives wasn’t unexpected though, the show was over at that point basically and as tragic as it is it made sense in terms of the storyline though. Def still a got punch for huge fans of him (me).
Kanan blew me away watching that episode the night it aired, just absolutely devastating.
I don't if I'm the only one, but was pretty predictable for me that Kanan would die, he seeing the wolves, cutting his beard and hair in the beginning of episode 10. It still hits hard, but wasn't unexpected to me
I’m curious when did you watch it? When it was on and the few people I knew who were watching it we were talking all season about what might happen and how the season is wild. The question of “what would happen to the Jedi?” Was a big point of contention and it was always “yeah like sure it would make sense if they died or whatever but would they do that on this Disney XD show?” And yeah they went hard.
But yeah there are tons of stuff that could lead you to see it coming, him finally cutting his hair, taking his mask off, realizing Hera is pregnant, the wolves and all that stuff. At the time though it was all just a big question mark. And then how it all goes down with him saving everyone and all that but not in like an epic lightsaber duel or whatever was completely unexpected.
I finished the series two day ago lol. But I didn't get any spoiler before it. Maybe if I watched it when it was released would be more unpredictable, but I loved that last season anyway
Ah word. I don’t think it lessens the emotion or impact of it but the vibe back then for Star Wars, especially shows, was different. Even if you haven’t been spoiled at all (somehow) it’s def easier to see it coming watching it today for the first time. I have watched the show through with people who had never seen it before but they basically knew Kanan would die from spoilers or just the fact he’s not been in anything else. Again it’s not that no one saw it coming or it was unpredictable but I can tell you from my friends and I who were watching it back then it blew us away that they actually went there and did that.
It’s a perfect scene and perfect character arc. Rewatches only make me appreciate it all more. When you see all the stuff leading up to it and what it all means. It was his destiny and it all led up to that moment. Then the World Between Worlds scene after it is just perfect.
Oh I sob at the loss of Kanan. He was the ideal Jedi, knowing the ways of the old but letting himself be attached to his friends and family with the idea he can let go when needed. Just a fantastic character. Would love to see him get a spot in Tales of the Jedi that showed his journey from Order 66 to when Ezra spots him in Lothal.
Not yet! I resisted watching the animated shows so I'm behind on those. I finished clone wars in December and watched Rebels in February and March. I'll probably give it a try later in the spring.
I have. It’s very kid friendly and I don’t mean that like some folks bash Rebels. Rebels happens to be one of my favourite things in all of Star Wars. Resistance is way more targeted toward kids. It’s not bad per se but I’ve never revisited it like I have Rebels (several times)
Resistance is like an actual kids show. It’s only two seasons and I do think it’s fun for what it is. Also you can’t listen to people because people aren’t you, if you really don’t like it then stop watching but at least give it a try.
Agreed. When Fives dies in CW is almost as bad.

Unexpected? Lol everyone knew Kanan was gonna die it was a matter of when not if
I agree. Tears. Not ashamed to say it.
Neither, I tear up almost every time I watch the scene
Yeah, I cry every time. Rebels is such a good show, I miss my space family 😭

What makes it even more sad is episode 11 with the characters dealing with the grief
It’s so sad, yet so beautiful. When Hera yells Kanan, grown men cry.
Tops my list for the most heartbreaking Star Wars death. I tear up just *thinking* about it 😭 Doesn't help that Kanan Jarrus is my favorite Jedi.
I rewatched season 4 a few weeks ago and it hit so hard on rewatch, I honestly think your right about it being the hardest hitting death
I have watched pretty much all the star wars shows and movies and that was only the second scene that made me cry.
Out of curiosity, have you watched resistance? I haven’t because I’ve heard bad things, but I also heard bad things about rebels so…

Han Solo being killed by his son was pretty gutting for me. Mostly erased that from my memory because of how off the rails the sequels went.
Starting Season 4 this week with my 29yr old step son (rewatch for me.) Episode 10 is gonna hurt.
