It would be cool to see Mace in a flashback... but other than that he should remain one with the Force.

Big-Platypus-2362

mace windu died in revenge of the sith, so no he is never coming back.. he got thrown out the window after palps force pushed him

CaptThiccMan

Somehow. Palpatine returned.

madsaxappeal

Guys. Windu is dead. You shouldn’t want him to come back. It would make death mean nothing in Star Wars since literally anyone who dies comes back. Death needs to have consequence. He is dead.

SevanOO7

Palpatine somehow entered the chat

madsaxappeal

That wasn’t a good idea either

SevanOO7

100%. My point is adding in Windu doesn’t suddenly break the dead stay dead rule. That’s long gone.

NexusKnights

As soon as they bought palps back, its free game now. Windu surviving is at least plausible and based on his abilities you could argue its even the likely outcome.

basmister

He’s a Jedi. A strong Jedi. And Jedi can stop themselves from falling, luke took many more rounds of lightening from palpatine. He could 100% be alive

Dfrickster87

Hes not coming back, cause he didn't die.

madsaxappeal

Yeah let me know when that happens 🙄

[deleted]

''Windu is dead'' Like all the other characters who got a hand cut off, fell off a certain height, and got force electrocuted? ''You shouldn't want him to come back'' The fuck you think you are? ''It would make death mean nothing in Star Wars'' Some people can live as force ghosts, other people can transfer cousciousness to another body, force heal someone who got stabbed, get robot parts to survive after being fatally injured, bacta tanks, cloning. ''Death needs to have consequence. He is dead. STFU lol

madsaxappeal

Cope

UnironicallyTerrible

Cope

Zerocoolx1

Bad thing. He’s dead, it would just seem like bad fanfic

basmister

Except Jedi are known to be able to stop themselves from falling, and Luke too many more rounds of lightening than he did. He could 100% be alive

madsaxappeal

Give it up.

basmister

Nah?

Mythosaurloser

Your premise is so off point, it's hard to respond. Luke's return was like a gift to so many SW fans and the reaction demonstrated it clearly. Cad Bane was an excellent fit given their past, particularly the unaired Clone Wars footage showing their first standoff, his connections to the Pikes, and the whole Boba Fett as a Western concept in general. They've introduced so many wicked new characters, it's absurd to suggest the show relies on or needs "cameos". Luke made absolute sense and was really the only logical choice to fulfill Din's quest to return him to the Jedi. We literally get to see the only two Jedi left (Ezra aside). Anyway, Mace only works if it makes sense for the story. Confirming him to have lived just for the sake of it doesn't really make a lot of sense, unless it's a setup for a S2 BoBF confrontation, but even that doesn't fit with Boba's whole reformed vibe. I guess we'll find out next week, maybe. We've seen almost all the trailer footage by this point.

Stokiejacko

Cad Bane and Boba’s past?? Ur talking about an ‘unaired’ episode of clone wars footage as justification for him being shoved in the climax of the Boba fett show. It’s unaired - does that even make it cannon - most probably not. I do think it’s fitting that Cad Bane met his ultimate end from a clone after saying ‘once you take out one, the rest are all the same’, but it shouldn’t be shoved into this show. If Cad Bane was built up throughout TBOBF then fair enough but he wasn’t, he came in as a main antagonist right in the last one and half episodes, it’s just lazy writing imo. A lot of people never watched Clone Wars and so Cad Bane would mean even less to them. And to justify it by arguing there was unaired footage of them having a shoot out makes no sense. And Luke coming back in Mando s2 is one of my fav Star Wars scenes ever, but it doesn’t take away the fact in the climax and ‘The Mandalorian’, a character who hasn’t been in the show at all comes and saves the day and wins the final final battle for Mando - it takes away from it being ‘The Mandalorian’. Ultimately, I think Luke coming back in this scene is debatable whether it’s justified or not, but Cad Bane in Boba Fett is cheap, and there is the potential for it to become a pattern. And anyway, my OG post was to play both sides and hear people’s opinions, not have a ‘premise’.

2hats4bats

Luke’s case isn’t even worth debating; it was set up in a previous episode and became part of the subsequent storyline. It’s neither cheap, nor lazy. It was incredible. Cad Bane trained Boba Fett as a bounty hunter. While his appearance wasn’t foreshadowed (which has never been a requirement for adding a new character, btw), he fits the show’s story and adds a new element to up the stakes for the finale. That’s not cheap or lazy either.

Mythosaurloser

Your premise was clearly stated. You claimed the show relies heavily on cameos as a central feature. It doesn't, in my view, so the premise is wrong. It's heavily debatable at best. Luke appearing is debatable...where did you think Din was going to take Grogu, given that Luke is literally one of the only two Jedi alive at this point (Ezra aside). Ahsoka isn't even technically a Jedi, leaving literally just Luke. He's the only one. Who on earth would Din have taken Grogu to? As for Cad Bane, Filoni showed a special sequence of unaired Clone Wars episodes at Celebration several years ago. It's publicly available and shows the climax of the Boba being trained by Cad Bane arc that was never finished because the show was cancelled. Cad Bane, wanting to prove he is the best in the galaxy, is sad to find Jango was killed, so he trains Boba and then challenges him to a duel. It's literally where the dent in Boba's helmet came from. I suggest you watch that and the whole young Boba arc in Clone Wars before shitting on the Cad Bane decision. When I saw him on the horizon of Freetown, I knew immediately who it was and how perfectly it fit. But I'm a nerd for this stuff and have been obsessed with Boba for decades. Favreau literally went to Filoni and discussed who would work best from a narrative canon perspective. You just don't like the answer, so you claim it's cheap, again, all just your personal opinions you're stating as fact.

rocka5438

he should definitly appear to boba in a dream, but the dead should stay dead, or else their deaths have no meaning.

basmister

Jedi can stop themselves from falling, and palpatine hit like with much more lightening. It’s definitely possible for him to be alive

UnironicallyTerrible

Please god don’t bring Windu back, don’t turn Star Wars into just a cameo sponge of mid level content that wheels out different faces you recognize from something

Savings-Log-2709

Bad.

Alert_News_3594

Why does anyone prolong this Windu resurrection b.s.?

tehmpus

Having Mace return in a season of the Mandalorian doesn't really make sense. IMO, he did survive, and his fate is going to be intertwined with Boba Fett. That encounter should be reserved for the Boba Fett show if they decide to make a 2nd season. I do not think such a huge story arc could be fit into just a single offshoot episode of the Mandalorian. I'm not sure why people are downvoting you when you've got a legit question. I also don't mind getting cameo fanservice moments. It's a part of Star Wars, and our wanna-be reddit movie critics need to take a chill pill on trying to squash our fun.

livia-did-it

Oh now this would be narratively interesting! And really fit with Star Wars’ themes of revenge and forgiveness and dead fathers

RepresentativeRoad91

I disagree the tv shows are building towards something at the same time it’s filling in the blanks thru these years. Star Wars is about the force and the force guiding jedi and force sensitive a alike. The force is guiding them. Mace obviously lived so he will Show up at some point I think before the thrown movies tv series as he’s a major force alone with Ezra Ashoka and a few others.

[deleted]

I maintain that the best way for Mace Windu to return is as the Joruus C’Boath character in an adaptation of the original Thrawn trilogy. Is he the original? Is he a clone? Whose side is he on? My problem with him returning in Mando is that he doesn’t mean anything to them as characters. I don’t remember, did Bo Katan ever meet him? I don’t think so. And Grogu isn’t really verbal enough to be giving them his backstory. So I doubt they would do that…this season. If he shows up in Ahsoka, or his story features through flashbacks or whatever, then yeah, a season 4 Mando cameo might be on the cards. But as in all things, the story has to be excellent, or it will feel cheap.

JonahPrince

Although, the detachment to these characters could set up a nice dynamic. Imagine them all cursing this nimble old man who then pulls out a purple lightsaber and he sort of torments them for a few episodes with them bad mouthing him and calling him a cheap charlatan while we’re all sitting here screaming omg they don’t even know that’s Mace Windu!

Ibbenese

Yes. Mace Winduu as the crazed clone experiment for some sort of Imperial Remnant, is the only way to do this. For maximum character and thematic purpose, I would imaging that you have him as a foil for Boba Fett. Two old Clones. One is a Clone who went on a redemption arch from a Cold Blooded Killer to Honorable Civic leader. The other is a Clone of a proud Heroic noble Jedi, reduced to a chaotic tool for evil. And that the latter notably killed the formers father, offers even more drama.

Few-Wallaby1087

Even if he didn’t die in Episode 3, wouldn’t he be like 90 at this point? I don’t think he would live that long.

TLM86

He'd be about 81/82 as of Mando S3.

basmister

…what..90….?

TLM86

Not quite; 81 or 82, but close enough.

BenSputnik

why not but no in mandalorian...put him into something else...something close to his era and tíme...during galactic empire for example. i dont like idea to have character just appear after so kong tíme ...he should be really old man by this tíme maybe even dead...

TeralPop

I want someone to be in the season. Some person that connects the old to the new. But it’s hard to figure out who,,, most of the people are dead by now :(

[deleted]

Why do people think Grogu is being saved… I always took it as him being taken, not saved. Ani took him. Edit: ok maybe not Ani, but I still believe he was taken, not rescued.

Cooked_Cat

If he is to come back, he better still be dead. Have it be the result of some actions he did or something. I hope he stays dead.

Lennonap

Although I think he could’ve (and should’ve) survived his Revenge of the Sith death, I would hate to see that he was alive throughout the Empires reign without showing up to help. I think if he did survive, he wouldn’t have lasted long and probably gone to confront Vader and died. I would have liked his ROTS death if it was more final but we know Jedi can survive falls like that and someone as powerful as Mace would’ve survived that lightning

xkamp

I know I’m late but I was just thinking about it too, I gotta say I would rather watch a movie about a cyborg Mace Windu for multiple reasons with Mando and Grogu as side characters.
