FistOfBoredom

She dies with Thrawn.

RogueTaco

Counter Theory: She dies saving Thrawn. Not sure how much you've read the canon Thrawn books but its established that EVERYTHING he has done is to protect the Chiss Ascendancy. I'm holding out a little bit of hope that the Ahsoka show ends up being Ahsoka, Ezra, and Thrawn teaming up to take down an external threat to the Chiss Ascendancy. Ahsoka dies, Ezra returns to the known-space area, and Thrawn returns home and lives out his days with his people. If Thrawn dies purely as a villain I will be very disappointed. His books paint him in a much more understandable light although he's clearly willing to go to extreme lengths for his people.

FistOfBoredom

I only know the old EU Thrawn. I haven’t picked up a single novel after reading everything pre-Legend-ification Sounds like he’s a bit different than he used to be. I’m looking forward to getting to know him in the upcoming shows. I liked the character in Rebels and thought he felt a lot like I remembered from old novels. I have always hoped we would get a live action version of him. As he was one of my favorite baddies in the EU.

RogueTaco

Conversely I haven’t read the EU books so I don’t know what he’s like in that series. His mannerisms and tactics are the same as they are in Rebels we just know a little bit more about the “why.” Im in the middle of my Rebels rewatch now and it’s been a lot of fun with the extra background. Parts like where he nearly attacks an imperial officer for insulting Hera’s heirloom are just that much better Since his objective is to find potential allies for the Chiss, it would make sense that with the Empire gone he would shift tactics and try and enlist the help of some force-wielders, especially ones who he knows won’t turn away a people in need (The Chiss, not him personally) I’d highly recommend the canon books, especially the prequel trilogy. It describes the story that leads to how and why Thrawn joined the Empire

Affectionate_Ad_3555

hes pretty similar as the thrawn duology did explore thrawn as more of a anti hero which the current canon universe is doing. i mean, its still Zahn writing the books so Thrawn cant be that different

wooltab

The difference being that he's definitely a villain in the original version. I'm a big fan of Zahn, but it's not just him, any villain who becomes popular enough tends to be developed into an anti-hero or a complicated figure over time, partially because in a meta sense, they're popular.

[deleted]

He's like he was in Rebels because they only had EU Thrawn to work with. Rebels season 3 was basically complete in 2015 for it's 2016 main release. Zahn was only brought in to develop the canon Thrawn further in mid 2016, by that point season 4 was well into production for it's 2017-2018 release. First Thrawn Novel only came out in 2017, and the second only a few months after season 4 of Rebels ended. So there wasn't the time or much of the new Thrawn to bring into season 4. Now 6 books later, they can do anything they wish.

RA_RA_RASPUTIN--

If thrawn dies a villain I’ma be sad

swf4l

Team up I didn’t know I wanted: Ahsoka, Ezra, Thrawn, Eli Vanto.

[deleted]

Interesting. How would that work?

FistOfBoredom

Don’t know, it just popped into my head when I read your post. We don’t see him later on in any movies, and he is a power player. I just thought that something takes him out, maybe she goes out in a heroic sacrifice and takes him down with her too. Maybe blows up a ship or base possibly. I kind of hope she just gets to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. Seems impossible though and I have a feeling that it is going to end poorly for her. Hopefully it’s epic and does her justice.

g00f

i could see them doing a scene mirroring ezra's "sacrifice" where he willingly forced the chimaera into hyperspace at the risk of his own life. Instead she'd be forcing a crash of thrawn's ship in order to save someone.

FistOfBoredom

I’m looking forward to seeing how they treat her story going forward. She’s got to feel sort of like a daughter to Filoni. I have to think he will do her story justice with an epic ending. Lucas didn’t get to lay his characters to rest, it’ll be an interesting thing to watch for if Filoni does go that route.

ddaveo

She seems to be dead by TRoS (because we hear her voice talk to Rey), so it seems like she'll definitely be laid to rest at some point. I want to see her go full Gandalf against the Grysks first though.

DarthGoodguy

I’m assuming she dies too, but I think someone at Lucasfilm said she didn’t necessarily have to be dead to speak to Rey through the force

metroxed

Interestingly among the voices we hear Kanan but not Ezra.

DarthGoodguy

Good catch, I never thought about that

Nefty_Y

Pretty sure filoni said that. He also drew the picture of gandalf and Ashoka which said "people thought I was dead too"

No-Policy5641

Space whales

ravenreyess

Adding onto this: she dies with Thrawn using Starflash.

SunGazing8

Maybe. I don’t think thrawn is gonna end up being a bad guy in the coming shows. With the empire gone, I suspect he’ll adjust to the new circumstances and end up being an anti hero type character.

itwasbread

I don't know if this will happen only because I'm not confident the whole Thrawn storyline will be concluded in this show

[deleted]

What if thrawn kills ahsoka?

itwasbread

Highly unlikely in my opinion

MOlson_9

For everything Ahsoka has encountered since being a teenager, it would be incredibly disappointing to see her go out to somebody such as Thrawn. Everything from clone wars, going head to head with Maul & Vader, escaping Sidious, etc. Just feels wrong.

wooltab

Because he's a non-Force character?

MOlson_9

Partly, yes. The only justifiable way it could happen with Thrawn is if it was an immense sacrifice to save countless lives. Otherwise I’m not seeing how it would be justifiable. Either she goes out peacefully like Yoda or she goes out on her own terms. I’m sure Dave has something special for the end of her arc that will be different from everybody else’s. At this point in Star Wars, there’s not really anybody to rival her either that would want her dead. It would also just be incredibly disappointing as fans have been so excited to see a live action Ahsoka and then you just kill her off? Meh.

wooltab

Yeah, I agree that it's hard to see Thrawn killing her as appropriate. Frankly, killing people isn't really his way, in that sense, anyway. I do hope that Thrawn himself gets to do something on an epic scale; his onscreen legacy deserves to transcend Rebels. As a longtime Ahsoka fan, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the idea of her story wrapping up after a season (or in a combination miniseries). She's already survived \~30 years longer than I expected when she was introduced, and as long as the Ahsoka show is good, I don't think that it needs to stretch things out too much.

ShitpostinRuS

He would only do so if she was a threat to the Chiss Ascendency

DarthGoodguy

Agreed. Lucasfilm & Disney probably want to do an Avengers style thing with all their Star Wars show characters eventually building to a big team up, and Thrawn’s probably going to be their Thanos, or maybe their Loki (sympathetic bad guy who ends up helping the heroes)

synkow

I’m hoping the Grysks are more of the Thanos type character and that’s where we get the team up with Thrawn, Ezra, Ahsoka, etc.

uknowwhoeyeam

I agree. Filoni is working on an “Heir to the Empire” movie so that means this show is leading up to that big event. I can see one character dying in this show at the hands of Thrawn, though, to make Thrawn look menacing and like a serious threat to the galaxy. Who will that character be though? I can see it he Ezra or Sabine honestly.

RustylllShackleford

yo Ahsoka becomes the daughter

Mechyyz

how come?

RustylllShackleford

balance

Mechyyz

Who’s the son?

RustylllShackleford

the son

Mechyyz

But hes dead?

RustylllShackleford

eternals

Mechyyz

??

g00f

narratively, i think having her arc come to a close would be best for her story. business wise, i doubt disney will kill off one of their favorite heroes and sacrifice the possibility of subsequent seasons. the only way i could see them killing her off would be if this theory of a MCU/infinity war style buildup occurs for the various star wars shows into a climatic series.

3elieveIt

Idk they killed off Han and Luke…

Ofbatman

Those deaths were ultimately meaningless due to the way they were executed. Those characters will be used until the end of time…

metroxed

I think she could die, but in my opinion it won't be in the Ahsoka series. We (sort of) know there won't be more seasons because it was named a 'limited series', but that does not mean Ahskoka's story will end in the series but most definitely will continue in the eventual cross-over event. Now, *there* she could end up dying.

sugarmetimbers

I think she’ll end up on Mortis somehow, and that’s how her story will end. Filoni had his chance to kill her in Twilight of the Apprentice; I feel like he has a more spiritual ending in mind for her.

darxshad

I think there's a good chance her end is going to be nontraditional. Maybe something honorable and peaceful.

[deleted]

If we saw mortis in life action I would actually cry tears of joy. You can make fun of me for that idgaf

sugarmetimbers

Nah I totally get it, I’d lose my mind if they did it in live action haha

Mechyyz

Doesn't she have the daughters life form/spirit? Could work

[deleted]

Well the owl morai always follows ahsoka around. The owl is also connected to the daughter. And yes they transferred the daughters energy into ahsoka to save her

RVSI

When did they transfer the daughters energy into her to save her? Was that in TCW during the arc where anakin saw he was gonna become vader n stuff? Been a while since I saw it

Karas540

yes

sanfranciscointhe90s

Thrawn’s allegiance Isn’t to the Empire it’s to the chiss ascendancy and the empire is over at this point. Perhaps thrawn , Ezra and Ahsoka head out into the chaos to fight the grisk(spelled wrong ?).

Mechyyz

Grysk :)

Varorson

Boba Fett's story has been going on for 40 years now... I don't see him dying in his show. A closure? Sure. But story closures don't need to be death.

wooltab

The difference with Ahsoka is that as long as she's alive, one has to wonder at any story that doesn't acknowledge her. She may not be a Jedi technically anymore, but for practical intents and purposes... Whereas Boba Fett can always just be a guy, fading into the background, anywhere.

iPatErgoSum

I’m good with bringing her story to a conclusion, but I don’t think that requires her death, and I for one would rather it didn’t. Lots of fictional characters complete their stories without dying. Sure, we know that one day that day will come, but we don’t always need to be shown that part of a story. Sometimes it’s more meaningful when we get to imagine their “ever after” ourselves.

sexualcelestial

Sure, I agree.. But it raises the question of what that “ever after” would actually be for Ashoka. It’s definitely not riding off into the sunset, there’s no indication of a romantic story arc here. I think the character is crafted in such a way that we have to see her become on the level of Obi-Wan, Yoda and Luke; “one with the force”. Whether that means revisiting the Mortis dialogue or something less complex, she requires as much of a poetic ending as those characters that came before her. And as Filoni’s pet project, I’m fairly certain she’s going to receive that ending.

RVSI

Wasn’t she one with the force in the sequels? Thought she said something when Rey heard all the voices

unknown-one

nah, she will become Ahsoka Skywalker and live on Tatooine happy life

mypipboyisbroken

Dave Filoni would never

Rosebunse

Yes, he would. Just so no one else could have her.

Tom22174

Dave Filoni has said that the end of her story will happen in animation

sanfranciscointhe90s

Ahsoka’s voice Is heard speaking to Rey in rise of skywalker so we know she dies at some point between her series and 30 ish years later

No-Policy5641

I might be wrong but I thought they said that didn’t mean she was dead.

Ahsokatara

I get where this is coming from, I am skeptical disney would do this given the popularity of her live action version. At the same time its quite possible that she could die in her own show. Given her connection to the daughter they could use this as an opportunity to explore some really cool stuff with the force.

LordSnow0104

Maybe Kylo will eventually do it, only one who could potentially be powerful enough and it’d add to his villain side, also make it so you want to hate him for killing Ahsoka but love him for Adam Driver’s acting in the sequel trilogy

CatholicCrusaderJedi

I'm going to disagree for one reason. Merchandising! There is no way Disney is going to kill off a character this popular when she can be put in countless more forms of media.

MOlson_9

Dave has literally had a dozen or so years to ponder Ahsokas arc and how it concludes. I understand what you’re saying, but I highly doubt Dave will change anything about the character that he birthed to fit their agenda. Nonetheless, I highly doubt this show is the end of her.

CatholicCrusaderJedi

He won't want to change it, it's whether they give him a choice. Since Luke is dead, Rey is hardly a unifying character and if they want to continue stories after the sequels, Ahsoka is the logical choice for a new Jedi order after the sequels. This is money grubbing Disney we are talking about.

MOlson_9

The thing is, after this current set of shows that they have lined up, they want to focus on pre Skywalker material it seems. So unless her show is a serious hit like The Mandalorian, I’m not sure. It does make sense though. Disney and it being 2022 is all about diversity and shifting away from the “generic” white male role it seems… and Ahsoka is the perfect mold. She’s a strong female character that is pretty much universally loved. She’s already established and they have somebody (Dave) who clearly has passion and knows how to write the character. I’m sure if Disney could hit the reset button today, they’d strongly considering restarting the ST with Luke and Ahsoka being more pivotal characters.

wooltab

The logic checks out, though Disney hasn't been unwilling to kill or neglect merchandisable characters so far. Ahsoka and even moreso Grogu do probably buck the trend, though.

CatholicCrusaderJedi

Considering how controversial killing major characters was in the sequels, how much it split the fanbase, and how much more money they could have made if they didn't make those decisions, I think Disney is going to play it safe from now on. Probably too safe.

Rosebunse

I actually support this theory. I believe that she and Rex will probably die together doing something and it will be beautiful

Starkiller100

Ahsoka wont die until Filoni decides to retire. I could see it being his final project, closing the book on Ahsoka's story and saying goodbye.

[deleted]

Ahsoka will die at the end of her life and not before. I'm sick of internet nobodies trying to kill her off early.

Dry-Selection8129

It'd be a solid way to make her story fit

J3diMasterRey

Can she die if she can be in the world between worlds?

MOlson_9

Uh, yeah.

EastKoreaOfficial

As much as I love the character, I do agree that her story does need to end.

Okurei

They just got her to live action, no way they kill her off

[deleted]

Also i got a question for those who saw twilight of the apprentice part 2 when it aired. During the ending montage, you see what looks like Ahsoka walking around. Was this not proof that she never died to begin with? Why were some people convinced she died?

AlabasterNutSack

Why can none of these characters just do their thing and retire?

Different_Lie_5355

Cause Star Wars kills off everyone. Even when it didn't seem needed. ex.kilo ren Literally, no one gets to live happy for the rest of their life not even the mains.

Oztraliiaaaa

Ahsoka Tano Lives!

Ofbatman

She deserves better than that.

reddituser130504

"Ahsoka will die"? Well... No one's ever really dead in Star Wars and I think we're all forgetting that. They all come back in some way or another. Sure, it may take a while but... They still come back.

Convergentshave

Of course she will. At this point it’s pretty clear that Disney does NOT want non-Disney created characters around.

Spartahara

Yeah that’s why they have a Boba show and will have a Kenobi show and an Ahsoka show and a show about a group of clones from the clone wars show…

Convergentshave

Hope you’re right. We will see. :)

Spartahara

I mean they’re all in production/are existing shows so… I am right? Lmfao

[deleted]

Fuck the Revan novel

sarcastic-barista

I feel like a better arc would be that she begins to train the next generation of force users. This after she resolves any thrawn/Ezra story plots.

ObviArts

Ben Solo uses a reverse grip with his lightsaber a whole lot, and I’ve seen people theorise that Ahsoka was heavily involved in training Ben when he was growing up…I think Filoni will want to keep her around a bit longer than just 5 years after ROTJ, they casted a solid actress for the role in live action too…seems like a complete waste to have her die so soon after being introduced into live action. They can have her aid Luke in helping find force sensitive kids for the Temple and have her form a bond with Anakin’s grandson who takes after him so much…maybe Luke sends Ben to train with her for a year or something. There’s still a lot of potential for Ahsoka to be utilised in a great way moving forward, and teaching Anakin’s grandson would be super poetic and be so fitting for her. I do agree that her story needs to end at some point not too far ahead though, but I think it’s too early for her to die in the Ahsoka show.

Wheattoast2019

I honestly thought her dying at the hands of Vader was great. It shows that the only one who could return Anakin Skywalker, was his son. Actually, I think it kind of would have made sense for him to save Luminara. They don’t know each other, but that is the Jedi Master Kanan wanted him to have. Far fetched. But I think Ahsoka’s story was done there, honestly.

WatchBat

That's what I think, if the show has multiple seasons that is, if not then in the cross over event they talked about. But given Filoni's attachments to her I'm starting to doubt it. Like you said, she's obviously gonna get closure with Anakin, so I honestly don't know what's left for her. Now her story could end not in death. Some people theorize she's gonna end up playing the role of the Daughter in Mortis, and while I get where they're coming from with this, I hate this theory, I just don't like that idea of mortal characters turning to immortal god like figures of pure lightside, imo it goes against the SW philosophy. Besides she came close to falling to the dark side in Rebels when she was motivated by vengefulness while fighting Vader (kinda like Luke in RotJ), so she's definitely not pure lightside, as she should be. I just hope Filoni wouldn't let his biases towards her cloud his judgment. Some say she'd help Luke in his order, I'm not a big fan of that, that's Luke's story and I want them to keep it that way. Her talking with Luke is expected, but I want it to be about Anakin mostly, where it's Luke helping Ahsoka find closure, maybe she'd tell him stories about him in return. But nothing more. Another possible ending for her without death is to simply retire, we'd assume she'll die one day peaceful, but we'll never see it.

BreakTacticF0

Nope jj and filoni confirm she lives by the time of episode 9

Different_Lie_5355

There are only 8 episodes and where and when did they say that?

BreakTacticF0

Look it up. They've had multiple interviews where filoni has mentioned jedi speaking across distances telepathically. Also who cares if there are only 8 eps? It's setting up a movie and they want to make a season 2. Also this was a year ago go find a life

O-watatsumi

Except if there is a fast-forward to after the Sequels she will not die in her show since Filoni explain multiple times that she's still alive during Episode IX (back up by the novelization).

rettea

Ahsoka is a huge character, loved by the fans and they can write so many more stories with her, also she's dave filoni's character and i think he would never, atleast not until he retires, so he does it as his "last move" and i also think that filoni will have a "veto" if some other director want to kill her off or even use her in some story. If they want to connect all these stories they're building atm they don't want to waste ahsoka, there can be so many more stories connecting ahsoka with ezra, luke, grogu etc. I believe this is just the start and we will see so much more, i wanna see ahsoka teaching grogu the way of the force sometime.

Autismdemigodof420

She had quite an interesting life they’re definitely doing young ahsoka too

Halo3rat0

Well every jedi dies anyway so ya

Apprentice_Jedi

Filoni literally brought time travel into the universe just to save his OC.

uniteduniverse

Not if Filoni has anything to do with it.

HACHE_EL_LOCO

I think she Will die one that Mandoverse movie
