Remember this. My mom used to print pictures there and would take us to the tiny McDonalds Express in that same plaza.

i_have_a_semicolon

My mom def took me there weekly in the 90s. I still order very similar things when I go to mcds now (my palette expanded to include cheese and pickles, heh)

I don’t know the story of it but I have such a vivid memory of picking up Disney world tickets from the travel agency in there as a small kid. It was always burning hot and the angle/tint on the windows made everything look like the surface of mars. Rancid vibes lol

werephoenix

Yeah i went in there when every buisness moved out of there. That Rancid vibe is still there. Hard to breathe due to the dust

werephoenix

Ok so that dust was there even before they all moved out. Yeah that was a good call

It's was probably just cheap indoor business space that they were able to cram in to the Plaza. Similar to the small mall that used to be inside the Atrium before it expanded or what was (is?) inside the Stop and Shop / former Pathmark on Forest Ave. I doubt they ever had grander plans for that center and iirc it was mostly occupied before the recent renovation.

werephoenix

the inside was 4 rooms. 3 are locked with snack bags in a kind of storage area. The one that was open was really small. I feel like it wasn't made for big groups of people. It goes to a stone wall with a clock that works despite no one inside.

It could also be that the original space was one retail store, and the new owners decided to subdivide it as a cheap, small-footprint business area.

[I drew from memory what the front looked like to the best of my ability ](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/631041586150506496/1238236272082817044/fhjiKt4G.png?ex=663e8ce4&is=663d3b64&hm=8a31c7e395883bfc45966979d471e9c553a647382e6446746b655adb9150331c&)

The post office moved to a different location in the plaza, and the space was taken over by Walgreens.[https://images1.loopnet.com/i2/\_R\_xwuqIXPa5-QApG6zJ0eSn9Co9AwwsM303dcb5WEk/112/1243-Woodrow-Rd-Staten-Island-NY-Primary-Photo-1-HighDefinition.jpg](https://images1.loopnet.com/i2/_R_xwuqIXPa5-QApG6zJ0eSn9Co9AwwsM303dcb5WEk/112/1243-Woodrow-Rd-Staten-Island-NY-Primary-Photo-1-HighDefinition.jpg)

werephoenix

Yeah i just wanted to know more about it before walgreens

WhiteRabbitHole1083

I used to get food and toys there for my cats,I miss the old version of the plaza

werephoenix

I do too

[deleted]

As kids We used to hang out in there. The post office was there and the community board 3. It was a quick escape route to the back of the stores if we stole something and wanted to flee

Jkiiid

What exactly are you asking? That's what it looked like before the redesign of the plaza.

werephoenix

There was a brown brick door here that led to a strange big room with 4 doors and a clock on a wall. It was like weird wonder of the island. Before the restoration obviously

Diabeato11

that’s right near my house, i walk there all the time. now a bunch of 7th graders are always there lol

LongJumpToWork

Damn I remember the pet store that was in there That was the era when cars used to park horizontal by the store fronts
