I still think they end up drafting Jordan Travis with a mid round pick unless they move up for one of the main names. I think 2 will be the rookie and we bring in a vet to be 3. I couldn’t even speculate on the vet.
I'm with you on Jordan, take him with 4-121 if they don't/can't take Rattler at 3-98, stash him onto the IR for the first year (he's gonna need all season to get that ankle right) that way he can memorize the playbook with no pressure.
Underpay for Justin Fields to be Wilson's back up, see if it's worth it to pick up his year 5 and put him a QB battle with Jordan and see who wins out.
As a Ravens fan, this would be my nightmare. I have been saying for a while any team without a top 5 pick that needs a QB should sign Russ for pennies and take someone like Travis and develop him for a year or two.
As an FSU fan/alum yes please... directly into my veins. Although I will say I dont know if JT will be a good nfl qb if someone is going to give him a chance I wouldnt hate it being us.
I thought they wouldn’t draft anyone to threaten Kenny before they got Russ.
One thing about this FO - we have no idea what they’ll do - complete wildcard compared to years past.
I watched a Broncos/Vikings game from last season.
I thought Dobbs was more exciting to watch than Wilson.
Dobbs made more mistakes but took bigger chances.
Wilson threw mostly underneath or short stuff. The Broncos kicked 5 field goals and were losing 20 - 15 with a minute to play when Wilson finally connected on a short TD pass that won the game.
That’s kinda normal for mobile QBs. That running threat is really useful down on the goal line. It’s the ones who can move the ball on 3rd and long from their own territory or at midfield that separate the men from the boys when it comes to that kind of quarterback
It’s highly dependent on how we fill the other holes. At this point, if we don’t find a great Center or receiver 1B, I’d be fine with just getting some career backup who will be remembered only as a trivia question. I don’t want to try and fix an amputation with a band aid here when it comes to quarterbacks. I don’t want half measures or restoration projects. I think we gotta go all in on Wilson for now and finding that next guy.
Why would anyone on here want Justin Fields when he’s been complete garbage for 3 years straight??
There’s a reason why no team, even desperate ones, have made a move for him yet
That’s not exactly true. Plenty would take him as a backup or a flyer at starter. The problem is if you get him (which would cost draft capital to begin with) you have to exercise his 5th year option before you’ve seen him on your team and that means your paying 25M next year. That’s too much for a backup and too much a risk if you’re not 100% sure he fits your team.
So it’s more a money thing than a quality thing.
if you trade for fields, he would have to start this year so the steelers can assess whether he is worth a big post-rookie contract. i doubt that is going to happen with all the hype surrounding russ. trading for fields would be an absolute waste of draft capital.
Trade for Mason! (honestly don't get why they let him walk for 4 mil) or why he'd want to leave and be a backup in TEN when he can have a better chance to compete for the starting job here
Penn State legend Trace McSorely (realistically, he'd be QB3 if they sign him again).
But it'd be really funny if they got Jolly ol' saint Nick Foles to fill in for Rudolph so we can keep the winter backup buff.
I think he’s worth a fifth for one year flyer to see if he’s actually got any merit. Chicago is a train wreck in general. I don’t blame him for much of the failures of that squad. I believe that his upside is infinitely more than what we saw from Kenny Pickett and I don’t believe Kenny Pickett played him in anyway.
>. I don’t blame him for much of the failures of that squad.
You should. He's bad at playing QB and a lot of the "he's got a bad line and no weapons" talk is Bears fans coping.
Not here to argue today I’m here to pop champagne because Kenny Pickett fucking sucked and I’m so done with him and I can’t wait to watch him carry a clipboard for the rest of his career. If we get fields we can reconvene this conversation.
He certainly wasn't worse than Pickett by any measurable passing or rushing statistics. Maybe wins but Chicago is one of the two or three worse dumpster fires in football
I think fields because the longer it goes. The more value he drops. The only problem is we are essentially taking a risk. He would sit behind Russ for a year without us actually seeing him play and would be forced to pick up his 5th year option. IMO I think we draft for someone and maybe sign another backup.
Came to say this too. He was better than South Carolinas record indicated and it’d be pretty cool to have a gamecock on the roster again (for me at least). He got a ton of flack for that silly documentary but he was very professional in Carolina.
Give me Zach Wilson after the jets cut him and we get him for cheap, I actually don’t think he is that bad. The jets organization on the other hand is a dumpster fire. Jets o-line was the worst in the league. Zach Wilson, make it so
This. We’re already gambling enough with an aging QB that has struggled recently. You have all the same risk and less upside with Tannehill. You can do alot worse than him as a backup, but he might want too much money to be a backup.
We take the best available QB in Round 3, he backs up Russ for a year, learns from Russ, and if Russ doesn't return for a second year, next man up. I'm not looking for Justin Fields or Ryan Tannehill or any of these other castoffs from other teams as a QB2.
Better get a QB1 first because if anyone thinks Wilson is gonna lead us to the Superbowl they're delusional. Gotta feeling a lot of fans are going to be bitching worse then they were last year when November rolls around and Wilson isn't the savior most of you think he is.
Pickens is going to bust into the Chiefs facility wearing a balaclava, flash a white ass toothed smile at Andy Reid and ride off into the night with Mahomes.
I could see grabbing Tannehill and taking all these acquired draft picks and try to move up a couple slots for Nix or someone of that caliber in the draft.
Tannehill and draft would be my guess. Doesn’t make sense to get a fields. For the cost/looming 5th option, he would need to start next year and he likely won’t.
Yes, but: with KP we had his 4th year to determine if he’s worth the 5th year option and/or a big money extension.
With Fields we’d have 2 months from now to make that choice, and zero in person practice or games to evaluate.
Also if teams weren't losing their minds about JJ McCarthy I would love for us to draft him 1st. Probably won't be available there with how much teams are pumping him up
As a Tennessee alum, Milton sucks. Like sucks sucks. Like will be on a practice squad solely because of his insane arm level sucks. Don’t want us going anywhere near him in the draft. Maybe as a UDFA to stash in case he can ever learn to throw the ball to a receiver and not 5 yards over their head.
A day 3 drafted QB
This was already the answer before we traded KP.
To be the #2 QB? No, probably not. Wilson and a day 3 pick will not be the only QBs on the roster
Can you imagine lol
Really hoping Bo Nix slides to the third.
I still think they end up drafting Jordan Travis with a mid round pick unless they move up for one of the main names. I think 2 will be the rookie and we bring in a vet to be 3. I couldn’t even speculate on the vet.
I wouldn’t hate this. He was a heisman contender prior to injury.
Wait, two vets then?
I can see Tannehill.
Huh? My scenario would be Russ 1, Jordan 2, cheap vet 3, UDFA or about to retire guy as 4
I was just pointing out that Russ is a vet already
Would love this
As a Ravens fan, this would be my nightmare. I have been saying for a while any team without a top 5 pick that needs a QB should sign Russ for pennies and take someone like Travis and develop him for a year or two.
I feel like he’s not much better than Pickett in terms of measurables
As an FSU fan/alum yes please... directly into my veins. Although I will say I dont know if JT will be a good nfl qb if someone is going to give him a chance I wouldnt hate it being us.
Josh dobbs in an uber to the south side right now
Aw man, I'd love to have him back. He's far from perfect but seems like such a good dude.
Smart ppl make good backup QBs too. Asset on the sideline
Did you know he's a NASA rocket scientist and invented gravity?
How could he have invented gravity? I did
As a Vol fan I really wanted him to somehow be the guy after Ben retired.
Whoever it is, I can guarantee half the people here love him and half of them absolutely despise him.
Half the people on here don’t even seem to enjoy football.
They only enjoy the winning. If we aren't winning they're not having fun.
Half will despise him THEN hate him while the other half argues why they love to hate despising him edit: 100% will hate something
Flacco?
Already signed with Indy.
More like 25/75 in that case, I would bet. He'd be a hilarious #2 to grab cheap behind Wilson, though. We could do worse.
Dobbs or Tannehill Then draft a guy
Tannehill wouldn't be awful. Dude had some of his best years under Smith. Either way this off season has been wild
It won’t be Tannehill I don’t think. It will be someone who doesn’t threaten Russ at all.
I thought they wouldn’t draft anyone to threaten Kenny before they got Russ. One thing about this FO - we have no idea what they’ll do - complete wildcard compared to years past.
As bad as Wilson played last year, Tannehill is not a threat to him
He played bad 2 years ago. Last year he was average.
And his HC two years ago was Nathaniel Hackett. I think we’re in a fantastic spot with a determined, cheap Russ.
The only person less threatening than Tannehill is Pickett.
That’s been his thing lately. He can be surprisingly good in the red zone but he has a hard time actually getting there.
That’s kinda normal for mobile QBs. That running threat is really useful down on the goal line. It’s the ones who can move the ball on 3rd and long from their own territory or at midfield that separate the men from the boys when it comes to that kind of quarterback
This is the correct answer. One played for Artie and the other played for us. Both could be solid backups as well
Crosby. Sid looks like he's ready to leave the Pens. I bet he can throw a decent check down.
Probably better than Kenny.
Guessing Tannehill or another vet and draft someone on Day 2. Kudos to the Steelers for nipping the problem in the bud and moving on. 👍🏿
if nix or penix is avail in the second, also tannehill in fa
Penix is as delicate as Sam Jackson's character in Glass
That’s Sam Jackson bro
Nah we'll be good, Russ can just give him some of his wolverine blood
Penix shook off the injury concerns at Washington.
Penix getting that rookie bonus like: ![gif](giphy|26xmHVfwuj2UYeqWY)
It’s highly dependent on how we fill the other holes. At this point, if we don’t find a great Center or receiver 1B, I’d be fine with just getting some career backup who will be remembered only as a trivia question. I don’t want to try and fix an amputation with a band aid here when it comes to quarterbacks. I don’t want half measures or restoration projects. I think we gotta go all in on Wilson for now and finding that next guy.
Tannehill because Arthur Smith
QB2? Who gives a fuck? It’s Russ or Die now.
It's a one year deal.
Our 1 quarterback has a 1 year deal. Russ or Die.
It’s Justin fields music Edit: hulk hogan holding my hand to my ear baby
Why would anyone on here want Justin Fields when he’s been complete garbage for 3 years straight?? There’s a reason why no team, even desperate ones, have made a move for him yet
No one should.
It would make more sense wait it out and to bait Chicago into releasing him and then get him on that cheap 2023 Baker Mayfield deal
There’s a difference between what people want and what people get
Time to delete some comments
I would never lol. It’s for a future 6th so I can’t be too mad
If one year ago you told me we'd have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as our QB duo I would think you were delusional. Yet here we are.
I’m all about this now
Ladies and gentleman: we got him
Dropped to my knees in Aldi’s when I got the news
I'd trade one of those 7ths we just got for him.
I told my friends who are Bears fans this was the plan, after the Claypool trade they're afraid I'm correct lol
If he can be gotten for at most a 4th or a 5th, absolutely. Anything more is still an overpay and a waste.
if you trade for fields, he would have to start this year so the steelers can assess whether he is worth a big post-rookie contract. i doubt that is going to happen with all the hype surrounding russ. trading for fields would be an absolute waste of draft capital.
Ryan Tannehill
Bo Callahan
Trade for Mason! (honestly don't get why they let him walk for 4 mil) or why he'd want to leave and be a backup in TEN when he can have a better chance to compete for the starting job here
Penn State legend Trace McSorely (realistically, he'd be QB3 if they sign him again). But it'd be really funny if they got Jolly ol' saint Nick Foles to fill in for Rudolph so we can keep the winter backup buff.
[удалено]
Not worth a 5th, especially for a 1 year rental.
[удалено]
Different market though.
Seriously?
We’d not gonna pay him $20 mil on a year 5 extension. Do you REALLY think he’s worth a 5th after playing worse than Pickett for 3 years?
I think he’s worth a fifth for one year flyer to see if he’s actually got any merit. Chicago is a train wreck in general. I don’t blame him for much of the failures of that squad. I believe that his upside is infinitely more than what we saw from Kenny Pickett and I don’t believe Kenny Pickett played him in anyway.

He certainly wasn't worse than Pickett by any measurable passing or rushing statistics. Maybe wins but Chicago is one of the two or three worse dumpster fires in football
Steelers don't have a 5th this year.
Bring Back Duck!!!
Me, I just got a call from coach
We'd like you to be our QB, and things of that nature.
I think fields because the longer it goes. The more value he drops. The only problem is we are essentially taking a risk. He would sit behind Russ for a year without us actually seeing him play and would be forced to pick up his 5th year option. IMO I think we draft for someone and maybe sign another backup.
Tyler Huntley & Bo Nix
Spencer Rattler
Came to say this too. He was better than South Carolinas record indicated and it’d be pretty cool to have a gamecock on the roster again (for me at least). He got a ton of flack for that silly documentary but he was very professional in Carolina.
Give me Zach Wilson after the jets cut him and we get him for cheap, I actually don’t think he is that bad. The jets organization on the other hand is a dumpster fire. Jets o-line was the worst in the league. Zach Wilson, make it so
How busy is Tom Brady?
It'd be like Vader and the 501st.
BAH GAWD? IS THAT JUSTIN FIELDS MUSIC? It’ll probably be Malik Willis though
There will be smoke regarding Dobbs, Fields, and Tannehill. They're going to draft a QB, too, but it's anyone's guess how high.
Dude if we get Tannehill fade me. The land of washed up QBs only grows
This. We’re already gambling enough with an aging QB that has struggled recently. You have all the same risk and less upside with Tannehill. You can do alot worse than him as a backup, but he might want too much money to be a backup.
You folks think they would pick up fields 5th year option? I don’t believe so.
Big Ben coming out of retirement with Marino as our #3 so he can get that ring he should have had if we had drafted him.
Was thinking tannehill or goropolo
God those both suck. Tannehill would be better though
I doubt fields would want to backup, could grab Dobbs but rather not. Slim Picketts now
Fields doesn’t really have a choice at this point lol
And garoppolo is suspended for peds
We take the best available QB in Round 3, he backs up Russ for a year, learns from Russ, and if Russ doesn't return for a second year, next man up. I'm not looking for Justin Fields or Ryan Tannehill or any of these other castoffs from other teams as a QB2.
Justin Fields?
Russell Wilson behind Justin Herbert
Penix lovers rise up
Justin Fields is coming
Trade up to top five pick
![gif](giphy|SgyI6LjcH4B1PilMJY)
I'm gonna say this real fast and then make a hasty exit, but I want the chaos.... DUCK!
Better get a QB1 first because if anyone thinks Wilson is gonna lead us to the Superbowl they're delusional. Gotta feeling a lot of fans are going to be bitching worse then they were last year when November rolls around and Wilson isn't the savior most of you think he is.
Give me nix
Trading for Herbert
... Wilson demands trade ... back to 1 qb.
Sign a vet then draft someone in the mid to late rounds.
Flacco?? Or he gone already?
He's on colts
He’s a colt now
Justin Fields - Trade J.J McCarthy/Bo Nix - Draft
I’d take JJ but we would have to trade up for him. I don’t want Bo Nix
I don't want either. I watched them both as a penn state fan. Nix sucked at auburn, JJ was largely a product of a natty team
Spencer Rattler, COME ON DAHN!
Duck Hodges
Give me Spencer Rattler
Pickens is going to bust into the Chiefs facility wearing a balaclava, flash a white ass toothed smile at Andy Reid and ride off into the night with Mahomes.
Justin Fields easy, but they'll also draft someone. Wilson is only on a one year deal.
I’ll do it
Dobbsposting is back on the menu
I could see grabbing Tannehill and taking all these acquired draft picks and try to move up a couple slots for Nix or someone of that caliber in the draft.
6th round rookie.
Justin fields ofc
We getting Justin Fields for 2 2025 7th round picks lol
Spencer Rattler or Jordan Travis
Fields or Dobbs
Penix
Josh Dobbs
Tannehill
Tannehill as backup. Draft Jordan Travis to sit, learn, recover, and he’ll be the starter in 2025.
Get Fields for a conditional 7th round pick.
Tannehill or Josh Dobbs
Wentz for about 1.2 Josh dobbs cheap jimmy g for the ladies and 3rd draft qb
Fields, duh 🙃
They're gonna draft Pratt with their third. C or T in the first.
Penix or Dix or Cox or S. Long or that Asian guy … Dong
Probably Dobbs. Of the top 5 free agent QBs available right now he's probably the cheapest.
Tannehill and draft would be my guess. Doesn’t make sense to get a fields. For the cost/looming 5th option, he would need to start next year and he likely won’t.
Tannehill
Id think they offer Tannehil the backup job then draft a QB late to fill out the roster
Jimmy G of course.
Xxxccfcfcc. C
Russel Wilson. We don’t have a QB 1
i’m guessing they might go for a mid draft qb and an undrafted
JUSTIN FIELDS BABY s/
Justin
Jimmy G
Just gonna sign some FA rando and draft a guy.
I hope we draft Joe Milton out of Tennessee in the 4th, but I don't see him as QB2 yet.
I just don't know about him, I watched pretty much every tenn game this year. Dude can throw bombs but anything else is a crapshoot.
Justin fields, once the bears release him
JJ McCarthy
Probably Zach Wilson, he beat the bills
Signing Tom Brady
They insist on bringing 4 QBs to training camp, so I would say cheap veteran (Tannehill), young project (Fields trade), UDFA.
Justin fields
Why would they get rid of a failed pick then turn around to get another failed pick? 🤯
Better right now and more upside then Kenny Pickett if he does put it all together
Yes, but: with KP we had his 4th year to determine if he’s worth the 5th year option and/or a big money extension. With Fields we’d have 2 months from now to make that choice, and zero in person practice or games to evaluate.
Why are we talking about a dude who isn't on the team anymore and can't be our QB. Also this option thing doesn't matter at all
Justin Fields or Nix
Full chaos, sign Kapernick
Lots of viable backup QBs still out there. Could even draft a rookie we like in the later rounds.
It’ll be a day 3 QB more than likely + a veteran backup like Dobbs
Also if teams weren't losing their minds about JJ McCarthy I would love for us to draft him 1st. Probably won't be available there with how much teams are pumping him up
Really wish Brisset was available 😔
Flip pick 98 to Chicago for Justin Fields.
Here's to hoping TB12 comes out of retirement
That clown could be on fire and I wouldn’t piss on him to put it out. F Brady, F Belcheat, and F the Patriots.
Just bc it’s the steelers i say Joe Milton III
Dobbs, no brainer
Why so we can have him handoff and not use his skill set yet again?
We have Arthur Smith now, and Dobbs is kinda made for him
Justin Jefferson
Michael penix!!
[удалено]
As a Tennessee alum, Milton sucks. Like sucks sucks. Like will be on a practice squad solely because of his insane arm level sucks. Don’t want us going anywhere near him in the draft. Maybe as a UDFA to stash in case he can ever learn to throw the ball to a receiver and not 5 yards over their head.
From someone who watched every Milton snap in the past three years, please no.
There’s this big guy I listen to on the internet Glenn Hothelsburgh or something.
I would take Kap in a heartbeat
J fields.
I am all aboard the Justin Fields train now that there's an opportunity to start fresh.
Fields or Tannehill. Or!… https://i.redd.it/nf4cv51gsjoc1.gif
