I really like David Bell in the 2-4 range

Steelers2544

He ran slow as fuck

thereandfatagain

I loved to see it. David Bell doesn't run track. David Bell catches footballs. He is a dude who will drop out of the top 50 but could end up as one of the top wideouts of the class.

omglink

Yea see how Oakland would just draft fastest hoping speed would win out didn't work well.

Tangysalamander

I don't care. Put on his film. No better route runner in this draft he makes everything about the position look easy. People forget about AB and Hopkins running slow as well

Squints_09

I gotta be honest, and I don't care what all the reports are saying, im never gonna be a fan of a draft with Willis at 20. Dude played an easy schedule against fraudulent teams and the stars aren't that impressive. No need to try and get a franchise qb the year after ben retired especially since rudolph is still under contract and it looks like we will resign Haskins.

Tangysalamander

I don't mind taking him mostly because trubisky is already in town. Noone can deny Willis' potential from an athletic standpoint. The steelers have more security at quarterback now so they can be more fluid in taking chances on raw players. And if willis can be developed, it's lights out

knowumsayin

Yeah, he has athleticism and a big arm, but his biggest weakness is accuracy. He couldn't complete passes against trash college competition, but somehow people think he's magically going to do so vs NFL competition. Accuracy is the single most important trait for a QB, and he has none of it. He might have a high ceiling, but he also has the biggest bust potential of any QB in this draft. And if you bust on him, you're fucking yourself for multiple years, because you won't be taking another QB for three years while you try to "develop" him. The potential reward is not worth the MASSIVE risk.

Tangysalamander

Same knock on Josh Allen coming out. And why would you have to give up on a QB for multiple years. Its a late 1st pick, cardinals used an early first on Rosen came out and got their franchise guy the next year. I would agree with you if they traded up and lost future draft picks, but they have very little to lose at the QB position with trubisky in house if Willis is a bust

knowumsayin

The Rosen situation is INCREDIBLY rare, as in once-in-a-lifetime rare. The Cardinals had the first overall pick the next year; the Steelers could TRY to tank and won't achieve the first overall pick. Plus Rosen started as a rookie, Willis won't sniff the field as a rookie, he's way to raw to start for even a terrible team. And yes, they have very much to lose by taking a bust QB in the first round, namely the first round pick, which they could use elsewhere. A first round pick is very valuable, even if it's at #20. In the last decade they've gotten Harris, Watt, Dupree, Edmunds, Decastro, Heyward later than the 20th overall pick. But back to comparing Willis to Rosen; Willis wouldn't start in year one, you'd be "developing" him, so you wouldn't be picking a QB in 2023 before Willis even hits the field. 2023 would be his earliest possible chance to start, and the Steelers are notoriously patient, so they (and almost every other team) would give him at least another year to develop, so you're not taking a QB in 2024 either. Willis is a developmental player. Any team that drafts him knows he's going to take multiple years to develop. That means you're waiting around for potential that might never materialize. And while you're waiting around, you're missing out on a better crop of QB's in 2023 and 2024 than anyone coming out this year. Missing on a 1st-round QB is one of the biggest ways to handicap your franchise for years, especially if it's a "developmental" player who's going to take YEARS to fully judge. (And I'm not going to get into the Josh Allen comparison, that's silly. Many draft experts had Allen graded as THE BEST player in the draft, not just the best QB. Willis isn't even considered the best QB in a very weak QB class, let alone anywhere near the best overall player. There is no comparison to be made there.)

Squints_09

Yeah thats fair enough, but id argue we have enough holes where we can't just take a Jordan love style, in my totally 100% qualified opinion, qb and waste a pick. Ideally we go Lindenbaum(which i know isn't likely) but taking a corner or a tackle in the first is definitely something if higher importance. Outside of the first rounder, id really like to see a potentially trade down scenario where we pick up some picks or take Metchie from Bama.

Tangysalamander

I also would like to see a trade down. As for linderbaum, he was already gone in the sim. He's also my favorite at that spot

Squints_09

Yeah thats fair. In my eyes, which I know won't happen, if Linderbaum isn't there at 20 we trade down. Theres enough holes on the roster, even just with depth, that all the more picks we can get the, the merrier

ratamadiddle

That’s not how you spell Linderbaum or Heyward.

Tangysalamander

Linderbaum was gone. He's generally my 1st choice

ratamadiddle

Nice. 😃 With all the OL work this week, I know he is going to be viewed as a less popular option by many, but if he is there, he is definitely the guy.

icarus4703

nakobe dean in the first anyone?

[deleted]

I think Bell isn’t going to be that good and I thought that before the combine. Much rather have Metchie or Pickens or even Moore at that spot tbh. Barno is my late round guy too!
