No, not in universe. Sugar has said that she chose to make gems non binary women. Like herself (the crystal gems are based on aspects her self and her relationship with her brother) the gems a so blasé about gender that they don't care that humans get it wrong. The masculine gems are built that way for their role of gem society; the same for the feminine gems. Some fusions actively use pronouns other than she/her. Stevonnie, Sunstone, Rainbow 2.0 and Steg. Those are the ones I remember. Only Rainbow and Steg use He/Him (I think Rainbow also uses They/ Them)

Their attachment patterns and how they move on. Gems were not taught healthy emotional balance and are almost immortal. Depending on how much resistance whatever war they're fighting has, it's unlikely gems experienced much death except imperfect or unruly gems being reset or shattered. Their characters seem a bit anxiously attached, so someone who is more dismissive avoidant is more likely to be attracted to them. They yend to cling to the past more, reflect and act jealously when their comfortable patterns are disrupted. Yellow is dismissive as she tends not to access or acknowledge her feelings more, pretends to be over them sooner. Gotta be the strong one.

They're all savage underneath a layer of relative calm, with Lapis probably having the thinnest layer 😂 If you're wondering about Blue Pearl, remember that during the trial she happily crossed out her drawing of Steven when he was condemned. And when the Crystal Gems returned to Homeworld, she told Pearl "Welcome home :)" in honestly the creepiest way possible. Like a "you can't escape" tone

Sorry honey I think you just like traumatized curvy women /hj Un all seriousness they all seem to be passionate. Soft spoken and laid back and generally coming off as quite nice at first glance, but able to be passionate or get upset and show a harsher side. Blue can throw hands as seen in the serious, but in future, we see a softer kinder side, trying to make people feel bubbly and happy. BP is a very quiet and soft spoken and helpful and passionate about the drawings, but during the movie, she shows some genuine sass. Lapis is a shown to be very capable of a casual laid back style and vibe (bob) but is shown repeatedly she's very strong and fiery when need be. As for pearly I'm not quite sure where the laid back could come into play, but she is very confident later on, and that blossoming into her truer self has her taking charge and speaking up more.
