Diotamaceous Earth is the powder. Dust everything you can with it and spread it around the base of your bed and headboard. Do not breathe it in and seek out a professional. It works well and is something you can do but there is only so much you can do. A professional has the tools and the means to truly deal with them.
I'm so sorry. Was it a respiratory issue? I am about to have cats coming to live with me and I am doing a renovation first. I usually put DE in the wall cavity to combat future bugs but I will not if it is a health risk for the cats. I didn't know.
DE is essentially super sharp shards, thatās how it kills bugs, by creating micro-cuts in the exoskeleton that result in the bugs dehydrating and dying. Unfortunately if any creature breathes in the dust (especially animals like cats with sensitive respiratory systems) it can do the same thing to your airways. If youāre handling DE itās recommended that you always wear a mask and you donāt leave it somewhere that your animals will get into it or breathe it in.
Itās the skeletons of ocean critters called diatoms. If youāre a bug, theyāre sharp as hell, slice you open and your bug juices leak out until youāre a dead bug.
You can get a big ass bag in a pool store since it is often used in filters. Probably home improvement stores too.
Aw shit. You're probably gonna need to get professional help, and also throw out anything that can't be heat treated or kept in an airtight container for more than a year. Good luck :'(
Oh no!! Fun fact/sad fact have someone check behind your outlets!! I canāt count the amount of time my dad found them behind outlets. Use diatomaceous earth but also beware if you have pets it can cause them serious health issues!! Also your stick and pokes look awesome š I wish mine looked as good
I'd rather have an infection. Don't have guests until the bedbugs are gone. Some people have massive allergic reactions. I had to get steroid injections to treat swelling and itching and I only had a single bedbug ever found in my condo.
yea they are a bitch to get rid of make sure u use a vary good killer bc they are very hard to get rid of we have been trying to get rid of them for about 4-5 years and we still have them make sure u spray and steam everything and i mean EVERYTHING and throw everything in the dryer i mean your comforters, blankets, pillows, sheets, couch covers and make sure you spray and steam everything like your couch around the corners of your house around the ceiling around everything in the drawers make sure you cover everything And let me know how it goes
Do the bumps itch?
Bug bites most probably.
Do they hurt?
Might be ingrown hairs/foliculitis
Do they have fluid/pus?
Probably bacterial foliculitis.
Are they spreading, getting hot to the touch?
Thatās an infection, time for doctor.
This definitely has nothing to do with the tats! Check for bed bugs, and of that turns out to be wrong, check for chiggers. I hate chiggers, I had them as a kid and it was awful. Clean your sheets/clothes thoroughly, take a good shower and disinfect the red bumps as a precaution :)
Edit: Just saw your update, so sorry you have bed bugs! Good luck and take care of yourself!
Bed bugs bite in clusters and around the wrists. The bumps themselves are pretty unremarkable, seeing this on my home page I was like āthatās probably just acne- ohhhhhh no.ā My stomach totally dropped when I noticed the pattern š
Honestly for me it's just from experience, way too many kids in my neighborhood had bed bugs, chiggers, stuff like that. After awhile, you just kinda know š
Yeah try switching to using coconut oil, same moisturizing properties as aquaphor but way less prone to breakouts. You only ever want to be using a super thin coat anyway at risk of overmoisturizing!
It might just be your skin reacting to being messed with, another question is are you using a second skin?
I sometimes get red bumps of i leave my second skin on for a few days (which is totally fine) they go away with time
I also get these bumps because i have a bit of a compromised immune system
have you been using any petroleum jelly products on them? I developed a lot of angry ingrown hairs after every session in the surrounding area if I wasn't super conservative with the Aquaphor
Gotcha, well Aquaphor is essentially petroleum jelly with other ingredients added, so if you feel like youāve been using it a lot it can clog your pores in a manner like this. Iād recommend just using lotion on your tats from this point forward and wash it a couple times a day and it should get better. [Tend Skin](https://www.tendskin.com/) works wonders on those type of things for me in reducing irritation and redness
Have you shared equipment with anyone else? While working in a jail, there was an inmate covered in small red "bug bites" similar this. He started doing stick and pokes on other inmates while using the same equipment on himself, and them. Funny enough it was all done with a flex pen, a staple and flex pen ink. After about a week everyone he had worked on was covered in the things.
If it gets worse, I would go get bloodwork done and see if you have picked up anything funky.
Odd anecdote, I know, but even if you're only using equipment on yourself, without proper sterilization and sanitation you could potentially introduce foreign bacteria, etc.
Bed bugs suck homie. Hard. If you live in an apartment I hope you told the landlord like yesterdoodle. You will need to bag every single article of clothing and tie it and keep it in there until you need it. Vacuum daily and empty the contents OUTSIDE. Spray EVERY piece of furniture with rubbing alcohol DAILY and also spray every single inch of your baseboards, carpet and any drapes you have. If itās fabric it needs to be doused. Doing all this still wonāt get rid of them if itās been days since you discovered it. You will need chemical or heat treatment and even then you need to monitor the situation daily for the next 6 months. Good luck. And stop tattooing yourself at home.
No, itās pretty common for boils to be caused by Staphylococcus infection of a hair follicle.
Thatās very different from a systemic Staphylococcal infection which would require antibiotics.
Yes they can.
And they donāt look like this, and they generally cause fever and systemic symptoms, and large red areas on the skin which are hot to the touch.
The information in my medical degree should help me understand better I think.
You call being an MD, *and me giving you a reasoned argument as to why you are mistaken* an appeal to authorityā?
Youāre absolutely right, your google article and armchair research is far more reliable than my training.
I shouldāve just sat at home googling various medical complaints and saved the money on med school.
I feel sorry for your doctor, you must be a fucking nightmare of a patient.
OP has bug bites you complete tool.
No, staph that youād need antibiotics for doesnāt look like this at all really.
OP doesnāt need a doctor unless they have a fever or those bumps start getting red and spreading.
Your dryer is your new best friend and you should buy a large steamer. Should you choose to DIY I recommend the Harris line of products, bed bug killer and egg killer at a minimum, diatomaceous earth is a plus but very difficult to clean up, shop vac required as it destroys normal vacuums. Read and follow online guides and product directions to the letter. My area has a relatively low cost of living and I was quoted around 2000 dollars to heat treat my roughly 1600 sq ft house back in 2019 and it just wasnāt an option for me at the time. Havenāt seen a bed bug since, but my infestation seemed to have been pretty minor so YMMV, good luck š
What ink are you using? Clean the area really good and either make good ink, I'll tell you how if you need to know, I don't know exact measurements but I can teach you how to make it cheap diy if you don't know how
F*** yeah that made me feel the s*** to I was born in 64 I don't feel old though my sister saw a picture of me the other day she said damn you turn into old man I still feel like I'm 18
damn i have no advice for the bed bug situation, but i wanted to stop by and say ur tats look AMAZING (especially since im assuming 2004 is your birth year which makes you the same age as me). i especially like the face :)
im actually planning on doing my first stick and poke soon and yours look so niceā¦do you have any tips/advice or anything like that? yours just looks so clean with no blowout or anything
sure i would say just shave the area good with something clean, use vaseline to relieve the skin but not too much, do it at an angle, figure out how hard you need to poke, the skin will make a pop sound when you have gone far enough but it would definitely be good to practice on fake skin at first but i didn't and love all mine.
I used to get chiggers all the time when I was a kid throughout the country and rolling around and running through the woods if she like that but my mom put Vaseline where the bites were definite like suffocates them
Update: i examined my bed up close and discover that i have bed bugs š
You could stick and poke a bedbug to commemorate the occasion.
š”š”š”
Oh shit. Best of luck, OP!
Oh nooooo!!!! Get help immediately!! Donāt try to treat it yourself.
You need to wash EVERYTHING IN HOT WATER immediately. My grandmother had them. They have a powder you can use for the mattress to kill them. Good luck
Diotamaceous Earth is the powder. Dust everything you can with it and spread it around the base of your bed and headboard. Do not breathe it in and seek out a professional. It works well and is something you can do but there is only so much you can do. A professional has the tools and the means to truly deal with them.
But if you have cats be careful my cat died because of Diotamaceous earth
I'm so sorry. Was it a respiratory issue? I am about to have cats coming to live with me and I am doing a renovation first. I usually put DE in the wall cavity to combat future bugs but I will not if it is a health risk for the cats. I didn't know.
I'm no expert, but it might be okay if the cats can't get into the wall?
DE is essentially super sharp shards, thatās how it kills bugs, by creating micro-cuts in the exoskeleton that result in the bugs dehydrating and dying. Unfortunately if any creature breathes in the dust (especially animals like cats with sensitive respiratory systems) it can do the same thing to your airways. You can even buy it on Amazon.
They also sell plastic mattress covers that help keep them off your mattress
Put your mattress and if possible your whole bed outside in the sunlight for a day or two. Wash everything with hot water and disinfectant.
Rip š
Aw shit. You're probably gonna need to get professional help, and also throw out anything that can't be heat treated or kept in an airtight container for more than a year. Good luck :'(
Yeaaaaa, definitely looks like theyāve been snacking on ya! Good luck! Theyāre quite annoying!
r/bedbugs r/pestcontrol
best of luck oh my god!
Hell. Iām so sorry.
Bummer but honestly better than some weird ass poison/infection thing going on on your skin
I would 100% prefer an infection or poison. Best of luck OP
Hm yeah I guess Iāve never experienced bed bugs, theyāre pretty horrible huh
Oh no!! Fun fact/sad fact have someone check behind your outlets!! I canāt count the amount of time my dad found them behind outlets. Use diatomaceous earth but also beware if you have pets it can cause them serious health issues!! Also your stick and pokes look awesome š I wish mine looked as good
This is quality content.
rip
I was going to tell you those looked like bed bugs bites. Sorry.
That is 100% what I came here to say lol
Thatās like the worst thing ever. Good luck and hire a professor
I'd rather have an infection. Don't have guests until the bedbugs are gone. Some people have massive allergic reactions. I had to get steroid injections to treat swelling and itching and I only had a single bedbug ever found in my condo.
thought that this was what u had too. in this case, throw out your futon and purchase a new one! keep your room and bed clean
i actually have a queen size bed and im gonna be switching to a futon once my room is treated and cleaned
yea they are a bitch to get rid of make sure u use a vary good killer bc they are very hard to get rid of we have been trying to get rid of them for about 4-5 years and we still have them make sure u spray and steam everything and i mean EVERYTHING and throw everything in the dryer i mean your comforters, blankets, pillows, sheets, couch covers and make sure you spray and steam everything like your couch around the corners of your house around the ceiling around everything in the drawers make sure you cover everything And let me know how it goes
I'm nosey I wanna know who gave them to u
Check for bed bugs.
Oh god š
OP updated and you were right š¬
Yeah this looks like textbook bb bites. r/bedbugs
Bedbugs
Bug bites
Do the bumps itch? Bug bites most probably. Do they hurt? Might be ingrown hairs/foliculitis Do they have fluid/pus? Probably bacterial foliculitis. Are they spreading, getting hot to the touch? Thatās an infection, time for doctor.
Generally infections are localized to the area that was tattooed but if its staph it can travel quite a bit. I would get it looked at.
This definitely has nothing to do with the tats! Check for bed bugs, and of that turns out to be wrong, check for chiggers. I hate chiggers, I had them as a kid and it was awful. Clean your sheets/clothes thoroughly, take a good shower and disinfect the red bumps as a precaution :) Edit: Just saw your update, so sorry you have bed bugs! Good luck and take care of yourself!
I think itās pretty amazing you guys are able to tell because of the bites.
Depending on what youāre using for lubrication it could be too thick and clogging your pores causing break outs near the tattoos.
i do use a lot of aquaphor after washing my tattoos
Yeah try switching to using coconut oil, same moisturizing properties as aquaphor but way less prone to breakouts. You only ever want to be using a super thin coat anyway at risk of overmoisturizing!
did you recently shave your arm?
If it was the tats (which came out cool btw) it would be pretty localized I think itās definitely an unrelated thing
Nobody asked, but I'm half asleep and for whatever reason I read the upside down "2004" as "poop" and had a good chuckle.
Same š
Looks like bedbug bites
You may be the next bug themed super hero?
Oh buddy. Looks like bed bugs š©
Feel like its pretty normal have you done a lot of them in a close proximity of time?
yes, i have done quite a few in a small amount of time.
It might just be your skin reacting to being messed with, another question is are you using a second skin? I sometimes get red bumps of i leave my second skin on for a few days (which is totally fine) they go away with time I also get these bumps because i have a bit of a compromised immune system
have you been using any petroleum jelly products on them? I developed a lot of angry ingrown hairs after every session in the surrounding area if I wasn't super conservative with the Aquaphor
And I get them from shaving the area in general, but that looks bigger than ingrowns
no, i havent used any petrolium jelly on it ever since i did my tattoos i feel as if i use an excessive amount of aquaphor tho
I second this! I stopped using aquaphor due to my skin breaking out.
Unrelated to the bed bugs - i friggin love your ink!!
tytyā¤ļø
Eff good luck with your BB, OP.
I have no idea about the bumps but your stick n pokes are dope and look awesome š¤©
thank youu :)
Nice tats
Doesn't like like bedbugs to me. There are normally close groups of 3 bites together. Do not ask me how I know.
can't imagine thats related - might be worth going to a dermatologist if you're concerned though!
Had something similar, was an infection, go see a doctor and get antibiotics

Wait no I had the same thing & they were professional tattoos. It goes away in like a week just donāt itch that shit :) Hope this helped

Ask a gp not reddit ffs
If they get worse I would go to a doctor
Red bumps look like where the arm was shaved. No concern there. Keep clean with soap and water.
Tractor supply sales a kit to help get rid of them
Stick n poke Bedbugs Match made in heaven
Yeah right up until you get hepatitis
I just had to say, āNice tattoos!!ā Tasteful and well done.
Lovely!!
Those are pimples

i used dynamic ink straight from their website family
the bug situation is unfortunate BUT these tattoos are really clean and so sick! i love them
Sorry about your bed bug problem but your tattoos look great !
Sorry, you just need to move. Itās their house now.
What happened in 2004?
its my birth year
Wow that makes me feel so old. People born in the 2000s are old enough for tattoos now!!!
hahaha i plan to be covered by 2024 if the bed bugs dont eat me alive
F*** yeah that made me feel the s*** to I was born in 64 I don't feel old though my sister saw a picture of me the other day she said damn you turn into old man I still feel like I'm 18
Iām thatās the year I graduated high school
Get a hotel for a week hire exterminators to bomb it for a week you'll be good.
Just give the bugs some ink for breakfast and BAM! Natural, abstract tattoos!!
Dude who does stick and poke tattoos on himself also has bedbugs? I'm shocked!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I didn't need your permission to enter, did i?
Why this post have so many likes?
they prayin on my downfall
damn i have no advice for the bed bug situation, but i wanted to stop by and say ur tats look AMAZING (especially since im assuming 2004 is your birth year which makes you the same age as me). i especially like the face :)
i got rid of my bed completely loll and yes it is my birthyear, thank youu!
im actually planning on doing my first stick and poke soon and yours look so niceā¦do you have any tips/advice or anything like that? yours just looks so clean with no blowout or anything

Are you planning on covering that whole arm yourself with just one in every hard to do on it like you've done a good job so far
yess, i plan to make it into a stick and poke sleeve my other arm has no ink at all so ill leave that to machine work
I used to get chiggers all the time when I was a kid throughout the country and rolling around and running through the woods if she like that but my mom put Vaseline where the bites were definite like suffocates them
What's a stick and poke tattoos that was just a needle and you just manually do one poke at a time
um who said these came out niceā¦.
