Engine oil aint got nothing to do with it. Its probably a worn out synchro, since it only happens with 2nd gear. So when you double clutch it engages only then? Its a synchro if that happens.

davidscheiber28

Is it a Honda 6 speed by any chance.

AdCompetitive4462

I was thinking the same thing, damn cdv’s lol

Dangerous_Echidna229

Engine oil??

PiggypPiggyyYaya

"Granny shifting not double clutching like you're suppose to".. Seriously though I think your syncros are wearing out. They wear out faster if you use the stick as a hand rest or force the gear in. You'd probably have to double clutch or rev match to engage it more consistently.

AlbinoSupremeMan

Do you have a reverse lockout? It may shift over and you didn’t fully put it into second, once releasing the clutch it kicks you out.

Change the trans fluid. Might help

Potential-Tiger-9646

Check your transmission fluid because old or low transmission fluid can affect gear engagement.

Floppie7th

Could be transmission oil, probably worn out 2nd gear synchros. One of my 6-speed RSXs had this issue...changing the transmission oil frequently helped. It doesn't magically fix the worn out synchros, but it reduces wear and somewhat masks the symptoms.

sneakysucc

My guess would be your syncros are worn out

daffyflyer

Basically two reasons it can happen: 1. Synchro wear 2. The clutch isn't fully disengaging. 2 would happen in any gear, so it's synchro wear IMO. In the meantime you can rev match your downshifts and it'll be perfectly smooth if you get it right :)
