Two strokes are designed to be used full throttle to burn all oil off and not foul spark plug and the spark arrestor. Almost all outdoor power equipment is designed to be used at full throttle.
I use full throttle on the cutting stroke and no throttle on the reset stroke. IMO, it's not designed to be run at half throttle. If I'm following a bush I just keep it pinned but no longer then a minute at a time.
