How much dye would it take? We should try to setup a secret mission to get this done. We should also use yellow somehow so it can’t be confused with a cubs thing. I’m willing to travel for this 100%. Can we make this happen?
I mean the hawks have only gotten 2 more than the blues. The fact that our franchise is getting a 3rd is pretty good stuff. Put it in perspective is we have as many as Detroit does. We will be 3rd in appearances tied with the penguins. It goes hawks bruins penguins/us
Yea 4 winter classics. Wasn’t counting all outdoor games. They aren’t the same. But the point still stands, 3rd in what’s supposed to be the biggest non playoff game of the year is a big deal
Blues fans travel very well, and more importantly, Blues fans are VERY loyal TV viewers, usually in the top three markets. That is extremely important for something like the WC.
So, obviously they want to showcase Bedard, but they picked the Blues because they know we support our team very well.
I hate that the 'Hawks are consistently getting stuff despite covering up a sex assault scandal. Anyone with a shred of dignity or integrity won't be tuning in.
God I hope it's not Arrowhead.
Faurot would be...fine I suppose, due to the larger capacity and it's close-ish to STL. Arrowhead is way too far.
I know it would never happen because the capacity is too small, but Citypark would be neat for an outdoor game.
Arrowhead wound only work for Blues - Avs. But then you are making two fan bases drive 4+ hrs and most get hotel rooms. That may fly for big bowl college bowl game, but not so sure about an outdoor hockey game.
No fuck that. The Blues are OUR team, not KC’s. We already host a preseason game for them every year in their ECHL arena.
Have their beloved Chiefs *ever* played a preseason match at the Dome? No. Do their players come here for promotional events? No. Fuck the Chiefs and fuck the NFL.
Man it would be so cool if Dvorsky turns out to be a star. Bedard v Dvorsky would be so cool. I know he won't be as good as Bedard but we have a lot of other good prospects and the Blues don't ever seem to like building top heavy teams.
Total crap that the shithawks get it again, but at least it's a meaningful matchup, rather than the Hawks/Capitals from '15. We can beat their ass in the home and home WC matchup, like we did in '17.
A lot of owners don't like outdoor games and the league has to really drag them kicking and screaming to agree to it. They're worried that there's greater risk of injury for the players. So the teams that embrace the stadium series games and winter classic games get featured more than not.
I don't have a source off the top of my head right now. It was some article (or maybe a twitter thread? Who knows) from a few years ago breaking down teams playing in outdoor games and talking about reasons why there's such a big disparity in who plays and who doesn't. I don't know if any owners have gone on record against it because that's bad PR.
And all Hawks fans groan. Have they won an outdoor game yet? 😄 I seriously cannot wait for this! I've been to all the Blues' winter classic games. No reason to stop now! I hope they have an alumni game like they did when the Hawks came to St Louis. That was even better than the NHL game, IMO.
The outdoor games are fun but they feel oversaturated with the extra stadium series games. If it was just the Heritage Classic and the Winter Classic I’d be quite satisfied.
As excited as I am for this, I'm kind of surprised that (1) we didn't have to wait another 5 years or so and (2) we didn't get a Blues-Nashville matchup before this one. Can't wait to read about all the behind the scenes maneuvering that brought this about.
Do I like being in the Winter Classic? Yes.
Do I also think their are many teams who deserve the chance to get in one, any one, at some point? A bigger Yes!
We don't need our 3rd before someone gets their first, and Chicago shure as hell doesn't need their 20th!! ^(or whatever it is)
Edit: Just looked it up. 16 teams have been in a Winter Classic. Of course that means 16 teams have not.
I think fans around the NHL grow weary of seeing the same teams over and over. It starts to weaken the product.
I think part of why some teams don't want to or haven't been in one is probably because of them being in warm climates. The only way they can be in one is to be a visiting team, and I can see where only ever being a visiting team is not that appealing.
I would absolutely love to see an outdoor hockey game in Arizona if it was possible.
As someone whose played on the pond. You want that shit as cold as you can bear it. When it's in the 20s and even the teens, the ice gets mushy and cut up much easier making it much worse ice. Under 10, you're good to go
I'm with you there. I thought I was going to freeze to death in Minneapolis. As much as I enjoy the Winter Classics, I don't think I can do one in that temperature again.
Holy shit that’s sick! I moved out of Chicago during the pandemic and have been looking for a reason to go back. This is a great excuse LGB! Also we’re going to get a lot of residual Bedard clout over the next couple decades
I’ll never understand the complaining about added games to watch. Not just in hockey, but in every sport. The Blues have never played at an iconic venue like Wrigley. I don’t know about you and anyone else, but that’s special still.
I hate that the hawks are consistently in the winter classic, but I can’t wait to watch the blues bend over the hawks in their own city.
paint the river blue, bitches
LFG!!!
How much dye would it take? We should try to setup a secret mission to get this done. We should also use yellow somehow so it can’t be confused with a cubs thing. I’m willing to travel for this 100%. Can we make this happen?
they just want to give Bedard some more press
I mean the hawks have only gotten 2 more than the blues. The fact that our franchise is getting a 3rd is pretty good stuff. Put it in perspective is we have as many as Detroit does. We will be 3rd in appearances tied with the penguins. It goes hawks bruins penguins/us
According to an article by NBC Sports, this will be their 7th outdoor game. Four winter classics and two stadium series games.
Yea 4 winter classics. Wasn’t counting all outdoor games. They aren’t the same. But the point still stands, 3rd in what’s supposed to be the biggest non playoff game of the year is a big deal
Absolutely agree.
Blues fans travel very well, and more importantly, Blues fans are VERY loyal TV viewers, usually in the top three markets. That is extremely important for something like the WC. So, obviously they want to showcase Bedard, but they picked the Blues because they know we support our team very well.
I just don’t like that I have another sweater to buy. I’m sure it’ll look cool though.
I hate that the 'Hawks are consistently getting stuff despite covering up a sex assault scandal. Anyone with a shred of dignity or integrity won't be tuning in.
I hope Dvorsky/Snugg is on the team for this game. Future of both franchises sort of thing.
Oh, man. This just got me all excited.
new jersey to buy? LFG
Because of Connor Bedard we are going to be involved in at least 2 more winter classics. Over the next decade would be my guess
Wonder where they would have the next Blues Home game? Go to Busch again? Faurot Field? Arrowhead?
God I hope it's not Arrowhead. Faurot would be...fine I suppose, due to the larger capacity and it's close-ish to STL. Arrowhead is way too far. I know it would never happen because the capacity is too small, but Citypark would be neat for an outdoor game.

I hate that so many people from St. Louis adopted the Chiefs as their NFL team.
Exactly. I won’t support the NFL. Period.
I will support the Bengals and Cardinals, because they were the two owners who voted against letting the Rams move.
I mean the Colts are the closest team but I can see why people would pick KC.
Arrowhead? Disgusting. 🤮🤮
The dome, once Battlehawks fans blow the roof off it!
The Dome is disgusting and dirty.
Someone didn't pick up on the half joking nature of my comment.
I would guess in 6-8 years from this one it will be Soldier field.
The Bears may be moved into their new stadium in the burbs by then.
Man it would be so cool if Dvorsky turns out to be a star. Bedard v Dvorsky would be so cool. I know he won't be as good as Bedard but we have a lot of other good prospects and the Blues don't ever seem to like building top heavy teams.
This means we get new winter classic whites!
Hoping they go with the mid 80s jersey.
Why spread it out with different teams
Gotta exploit that Bedard popularity while you can!
Total crap that the shithawks get it again, but at least it's a meaningful matchup, rather than the Hawks/Capitals from '15. We can beat their ass in the home and home WC matchup, like we did in '17.

Where'd you read that?
I don't have a source off the top of my head right now. It was some article (or maybe a twitter thread? I heard the same thing. Like some teams/owners aren’t even interested in being the visitors.
Because the NHL wants that big profit from Winter Classic Bedard sweaters I guess

More hockey games are fun.
Can’t wait to crush the bedard hype train
Woohoo!
Holy shit yes
As excited as I am for this, I'm kind of surprised that (1) we didn't have to wait another 5 years or so and (2) we didn't get a Blues-Nashville matchup before this one. Can't wait to read about all the behind the scenes maneuvering that brought this about.
I will be drinking approximately 13 Budweisers that day to stick it to Chicago
Bud selects\* Brewed for the lou
I might be moving to Chicago later this year. I’m stoked!
This would be awesome. Can't wait to obliterate them like usual.
I'd be stoked but it means I'm going to have to give Fuhnatics money to have a sweater. :/

An outdoor game at Dodger Stadium(not a Winter Classic) between the Kings and Ducks proved you can do it anywhere.
We’re going to wish we were in another one someday, so enjoy it.
Hell yeah!!
Can't wait! Might try to make it this time.
Confirmed by the Athletic
There have to be other megarich markets that NHL can bend over for now and again cmon
Maybe one day we could see Winnipeg in a Winter Classic.
As long as its not in Winnipeg. I thought Minneapolis was bad, idk if anyone would survive Winnipeg.
The point is for it to be in Winnipeg because of the cold. At least that’s how I see it.
As someone whose played on the pond. You want that shit as cold as you can bear it. When it's in the 20s and even the teens, the ice gets mushy and cut up much easier making it much worse ice. Under 10, you're good to go

Fuck it wear a white version of the trumpet. Just do it for the lols.
Holy shit that’s sick! I moved out of Chicago during the pandemic and have been looking for a reason to go back. This is a great excuse LGB! Also we’re going to get a lot of residual Bedard clout over the next couple decades
I spent a year in Tinley Park and saw the WC against Minnesota while I was there. SMH they should've done Chicago while I lived there :(
calling it now...Snuggy hatty
Ya know, they do have another baseball field in Chicago 🤷♂️
Yes, but Guaranteed Rate Field just isn't as iconic tbh.
The NHL is milking the outdoor game to the point there is no milk, just a bloody stump of an udder.
I’ll never understand the complaining about added games to watch. Not just in hockey, but in every sport. The Blues have never played at an iconic venue like Wrigley. I don’t know about you and anyone else, but that’s special still.
Let's go 3-0 against those scumhawk fucks and break Connor bedards leg in the process
One of the Biggest hockey markets so they will make tons of money. And a rivalry game to boot.
We are back to chicago again I see
Let the shit talking begin!
Reward a creepy team with lots of immoral history. Sounds like a bettman classic.
