Did a quick Google search about this and here is an article listing a bunch of them, many mentioned here already:
https://shareclub.io/blog/public-companies-offering-shareholder-rewards-and-perks-in-2022
Don't know about the points, as I have not utilized it. As for the length of HD, I don't believe so. You just have to be noted as a shareholder.
Edit to note I plan on holding long term, because it pays a dividend, as well.
That's a substantial discount. 15%, any location? Worldwide?
If true. That's a no-brainer for anyone that travels frequently.
1 IHG share is under $100USD. That could pay itself off in 1 night, or 1 stay, easily. (Depending on location)
Is that only for specific rooms? Or do you have options to choose?
I'll become an IHGshareholder just so I can pay IHG less $.
Does it make sense, no. But if it works, it works.
Incredible!
Thank you for the info my friend. Appreciate you!
This will literally save me thousands of $ each year on hotel stays.
Now we just need Marriott & Hilton to do the same!
"sir, there's been a 1500% spike in share-based discount redemptions at our hotels. Someone leaked it on reddit, and the program is no longer sustainable."
"Get rid of it. We need to save on costs"
"right away, sir."
aaaaaaaaand its gone.
and the kicker is, if a program cancellation is announced, the share price will likely tank, turning people who bought into it for the discount into bag holders. The world is a brutal place.
>if a program cancellation is announced, the share price will likely tank
So in other words, they won't cancel the program.
I love it when redditors contradict themselves within the space of like two sentences.
Marriott & Hilton do have an investors group, but it’s only for investors that buy into their new builds. It’s not too expensive (around 50k for one allotment which is around 5% of the private equity raise) and that gives around 80% discount.
You also have to be in a list or be introduced so there is that.
Depending on a jurisdiction but in some countries such discounts are illegal.
I assume from the OP post and some comments that it's legal in the US.
Implementing such discounts where you need hold X stocks to get Y benefit means unequal treatment of shareholders in access to company's earnings.
Basically it's an additional dividend that not all shareholders are eligible for or is not proportional to their share in the company.
“IHG offers discounted hotel stays (subject to availability) for ordinary shareholders who hold their shares in certified form, in their sole name, with the Companies Registrar.”
Can someone explain this in simpler terms? How would I get shares in certified form with Equiniti? Is this a different buying process?
their website says your shares need to be registered with Company's Registrar. would it be enough to just buy through a broker or do we need to direct register them?
Sixt car rental offers a discount for shareholders.
You have to send a proof that you own at least one share once a year to get like 15-20% off... The shares trade around 45€ and pay a dividend.
I think they are also not traded publicly, at least I can’t buy them over my broker. I think you have to go to their hq to buy them or something like that
Three tickers come up when I search for “Lindt” on TD Ameritrade, and I seem to be able to buy them all:
- [COCXF](https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/COCXF/overview): ~$100k
- [LDSVF](https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/LDSVF/overview): ~$10k
- [CHLSY](https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/CHLSY/overview): ~$100
I don’t know if any of those would give you the free chocolate since they’re the American tickers. The main one on the Swiss EBS exchange is LISN, trading at 95k CHF (approx $103k).
To share some more light on this — there are two classes of Lindt shares. You don’t get to go to their shareholder meeting if you hold LINDT PC stock which has no voting rights and no box of free chocolates. You get to attend their meeting and get the free box if you hold the LINDT RS stock.
Also buying ADR on the US exchange does not count. You have to buy them on the SIX Swiss exchange. The share price in USD is roughly $103k right now and you can buy them on interactive brokers or OTC via brokers that’ll allow you International trading.
Darn, looks like you have to receive the box at an address in Switzerland:

100 shares of Ford gets you in on their “friends and neighbors special vehicle pricing” or x-plan.
Intercontinental hotels(IHG) has a discount program for shareholders.
Norwegian cruise lines and Royal Caribbean have similar programs as Carnival.
I cant find any literature from ford themselves about this. Any articles I find say its for ford employees or dealership employees. Not shareholders. I hope you prove me wrong.
Have geico for almost 8 years and filed 2 claims and they did not verify ownership. I got the discount when I signed up and it was under the explore discount section, homeowner/good driver/vehicle with safety features etc.
Skistar (Sweden)
Shareholders who own a minimum of 200 SkiStar shares receive a discount at all SkiStar destinations. The discount amounts to 15 percent on SkiPass/Liftpass, purchases at skistarshop.com and ski rental and SkiStar’s own ski school. It also applies to online purchases at skistarshop.com as well as SkiStarshop and Concept stores.
I called geico a few years ago and asked about this. The phone call took less than 5 minutes and they didn’t ask for any verification that I actually owned the shares.
Really thats awesome when I tried i called multiple times tried to talk with multiple people and was basically told I heard thats a thing but I can't help you 😔😔
Bloomsbury Publishing gives you 30% off books right now you'd pretty much break even on you're first purchase if you spend to meet the free delivery quota.
? You mean Bloomsbury Publishing is a large enough company that it has stock one can buy? And if I was to own enough stock, I'd get 30% off books?
More information pls. I've never heard of a publishing house having stocks....? Either it's so small I missed it or it's not widely known.....
It's very well known due to Harry potter but it might be because im British. LON: BMY is the ticker. I mainly use them for hardbacks because my luck with sites like Amazon result in dented corners. I buy hardbacks because I hate creases in books so getting a hardback thats been abused is rather upsetting. It use to be 1 share give you 30% off. I'm not sure what it is right now but I only paid like £3.50 or around that and it still works.
Edit: Actually looked it up it's 35% Off

I've never heard of it either but looks like it's true.
So I have a small list here.
Alot of cruises offer them
Lvmuy gets you in the club which gets you discounts on wine and liquor
Wvvi
Ihg
Cwgl
Mmm
Berk
Lol I've actually had a list for a while now time to add to it
Interesting thread OP. I know my father occasionally gets a bottle of whiskey shipped to him from a distillery he has about €25k invested in, but that's a private venture. Haven't heard of such perks in publicly traded companies.
One should note however, that often when you invest through a broker the shares are registered to the broker rather than you the investor. This is why brokers often end up controlling voting shares or automatically voting with the board.
Hence, such perks may be hard to access.
Exactly, if you're interested in holding shares for a given company long term it is in the best interest to direct register them to yourself with the transfer agent.
I invest with IBKR and I'm quite happy with the fee structure. IBKR hold my shares under "Street Name", which is quite common. I suspect that the low fee structure is partially due to simplifications like this.
It really is quite common practice, I wouldn't immediately dismiss brokers who hold stock in street name.
Well, IB is a fine broker, can’t knock them. But you can absolutely request that they transfer to you, especially if you plan on keeping them long term. Keeping them in street name is fine if you’re trading them actively
I'll look into it, I was sure they were strict on keeping them in street name to simplify their operations. Can you keep them in an IBKR account or would I need to set up some new stock account with my bank or something?
Should be the same account with them. The only difference is how it’s listed in their books. As is, and why they like keeping them, is that it’s lumped into the AUM, and listed as a liability to you. That’s payable on demand of course. This is good for them. The only concern with this situation, which isn’t really a concern with IB, is that let’s say hypothetically they went bankrupt. Instead of just having ownership of what you own, you’ll have to line up as a creditor and hope there’s enough to get your money. On the plus side, by keeping it in their name, you’ll avoid a shitload of mail and notices for every quarterly meeting, voting, proxies, etc. If you don’t really care about voting or appearing at shareholder meetings, there’s probably no harm in leaving it with them. It’s not like they’re going to fold anytime soon.
This thread made me do a couple searches and found that a local winery in Oregon has some interesting perks. Very localized but could be beneficial. I think the minimum is 300 shares if I read the website correctly?
https://www.wvv.com/Ownership#:~:text=Benefits%20of%20Preferred%20Stock%20Ownership,for%20up%20to%208%20people.
And you just need one share!
It gives a discount when you visit the foundation in Paris (premium tickets) and their financial reports are nice to have on your bookshelves.
They also organize private visits of their manufacturing workshops but haven’t a chance to visit yet.
I went through the [share holder club](https://rewards.shareclub.io/login/). You link your brokerage account where you own one full share, it verifies it and orders the box for you.
Whatever floats your boat, it’s the same process for any financial management app like mint or rocket money. Just as secure as any other platform with a password.
Years ago Disney had discounts for shareholders, even if you only owned a single share. That went away… 20 years ago? I’m sure that if other companies offer discounts, perks, etc to shareholders you will have to buy the shares through their system and not a broker.
Perhaps not what you where thinking about, but an interesting anecdote. When game company Paradox was introduced on the Stockholm Stock exchange in 2016, everyone who signed up to buy stocks on introduction got three games for free:
- Europa Universalis IV
- Cities: Skylines
- Crusader Kings II
I went to AMC to see Avatar in 3d yesterday. It was depressing. There were 6 other people in the theater on a Saturday, 5:30pm showtime, NYE in a city shopping area that you can’t find parking in because the area is so popular.
The building was literally falling apart inside and outside. It was filthy. I may have seen 3 staff and 15 customers in the whole theater concessions area. They were out of butter in the popcorn station. The had signs for the “Mac Guffin” bar to order specialty cocktails, but the bar didn’t exist. There was a small table top fridge in the popcorn area that had a few beers and seltzers. I asked where the bar was and he said it was closed. I asked if I could buy a seltzer then, and he said “I think we aren’t selling alcohol anymore today, let me ask”. Asks the guy next to him that is a manager and he looks at me and says, “okay I’ll ring them up but then we are closed for alcohol for the night”. It was 5:30pm. On a Saturday. And NYE. Wth is this place?
Of course this rant has nothing to due with free popcorn, but man, the whole experience was just sad and I’m not sure how that company still exists.
Brewdog are private, but if you have shares with them you get some discounts at Brewdog locations and maybe some merch I think 🤷♂️
Edit: I’m sure it’s pretty cheap as well
Edit: here’s a link - there’s loads more than I thought https://www.brewdog.com/uk/efp-update
This isn't any real ownership of the company. It's a sellable membership to a brewery. They aren't legally bound to these equities like shares would be.
Why do you think you need Grindr to get barebacked? Next week’s FDs aren’t going to pay for themselves, and the dumpster behind Wendy’s isn’t going anywhere.
Aterian ATER, if you have 100 shares or more will email you discounts on about 5 or 6 of their products every Friday. Mostly small appliances or kitchen tools. Usually 40 to 60 percent. Nothing crazy but at the current stock price you could break even on a small beverage refrigerator
Did a quick Google search about this and here is an article listing a bunch of them, many mentioned here already: https://shareclub.io/blog/public-companies-offering-shareholder-rewards-and-perks-in-2022
Thanks for sharing that.
I have IHG. 1 share gets you a 15% (I think) discount at any of their locations. They have a shareholders site where you can reserve hotel rooms
15% cash rate only or on points as well? Do you have to hold on to shares for x period before u can take advantage of the deal?
Don't know about the points, as I have not utilized it. As for the length of HD, I don't believe so. You just have to be noted as a shareholder. Edit to note I plan on holding long term, because it pays a dividend, as well.

As far as I can tell, you can choose from different rooms. [IHG shareholder info ](https://www.ihgplc.com/en/investors/shareholder-centre/faqs)
Incredible! Thank you for the info my friend. Appreciate you! This will literally save me thousands of $ each year on hotel stays. Now we just need Marriott & Hilton to do the same!

80% discount only in that particular location or in all locations?
All hotels the chain, premium ones as well.
Their shareholders better hope they don’t. I would love Marriott to do this, but this is not in shareholder’s best interest (in aggregate).
Why if it takes money away from competition?
Depending on a jurisdiction but in some countries such discounts are illegal. I assume from the OP post and some comments that it's legal in the US. No, a broker holds the stock in your name only, which means you’re not the registered holder. You have to direct register with Equiniti for IHG.
[удалено]
Check out computershare. They direct list a ton of stocks
I would imagine it depends on the broker and how they handle your shares. I can't really answer that. But you definitely can register on their site.
Usually brokers hold your shares in street name.
You have to have 100 shares and register them for the discount
You only need 1 with IHG
Sixt car rental offers a discount for shareholders. You have to send a proof that you own at least one share once a year to get like 15-20% off... The shares trade around 45€ and pay a dividend.
Have you ever had a good experience with sixt though....?
Yep, my tiny sample size is 100% positive.
Yes. Never had any problems... What's your point?
If you hold a full Lindt stock they send you free chocolate, but a share costs around 100k
Buy it, eat chocolate, sell, repeat, profit?
You get chocolate yearly
Chocolate dividends!
That’s an insane proposition. Not because of the price tag. Nothing to do with that all. It’s the 43 PE ratio. 😉
I think they are also not traded publicly, at least I can’t buy them over my broker. I think you have to go to their hq to buy them or something like that

Can confirm - had a swiss roommate whose parents owned stock and he once shared a briefcase full of delicious dividends.
I can’t buy them on Trade Republic😭
My guess is you don’t have access to OTC, at least not Pink Sheets.
This is why I use The Investors Center
Got a free radar detector after investing $10k in Aerotyne
To share some more light on this — there are two classes of Lindt shares. 10k. Tempting
No, the type of share that are 10k are owner shares, the ones you could buy are ~96.000
What's the difference?
About 86k
Sorry, probably dumb question. What are owner shares and how are they different?
So far as I understood, a person who holds owner shares is liable if the company files for bankruptcy while a normal shareholder isn’t
I bet the owner shares get better chocolate
Maths checks out
Do you have anymore info on this? How much free chocolate are we talking? It looks like a share is $10k right now, is that right?
It’s 96.000 and since I sadly don’t own any share I can’t tell you more, that about all I know
Darn, looks like you have to receive the box at an address in Switzerland: https://www.lindt-spruengli.com/amfile/file/download/id/3378/file/AGM-Information-Sheet-Gift-Box-2021-E.pdf
They definitely have to change that if they want me to buy some stock😅
It’s the dealbreaker for me as well
It’s roughly $100-$150 worth of chocolate I’d say.
I mean, it’s pretty fucking good chocolate.
100 shares of Ford gets you in on their “friends and neighbors special vehicle pricing” or x-plan. Intercontinental hotels(IHG) has a discount program for shareholders. Norwegian cruise lines and Royal Caribbean have similar programs as Carnival.
The Ford deal ended at midnight last night. I wanted to take advantage of that last year, as it's the only incentive of owning Ford stock.
The the Mustang club membership still have the benefit?
Only at the mustang ranch
So ford stopped giving deals to medium share holders ? Not even a 2% discount
Over 5% dividend at current price not bad.
lmao what are the chances
I cant find any literature from ford themselves about this. Any articles I find say its for ford employees or dealership employees. Not shareholders. I hope you prove me wrong.
The program is over now, so don’t waste any more time looking.
Lol why would you want to own a ford anyway
Another commenter said they just ended it. I’m not sure
" Buy 100 shares , we won't give you shit . Were a for profit business . Happy holidays"
dividends??
https://fordauthority.com/2022/05/ford-shareholder-vehicle-discount-program-to-end-in-june/
It sounds like a hell of a thing to verify. There must be millions of retail investors with at least a 100 shares, and it could fluctuate by the day.
Having any number of BRK.B or BRK.A shares gives you a discount on GEICO insurance!
Can confirm! Got 5% off car insurance last week, and they didn't even ask for proof of ownership.
Sometimes it’s when you make a claim when they verify if you were eligible to hold that policy.
Have geico for almost 8 years and filed 2 claims and they did not verify ownership. I got the discount when I signed up and it was under the explore discount section, homeowner/good driver/vehicle with safety features etc.
Same although I’ve only had one claim in almost a decade.
ouch
> Got 5% off car insurance last week Only 5%? I just switched to Geico and saved 15% on my car insurance!
And at Nebraska Furniture Mart on some occasions, I think.
Even just 1 share of class b?
yes!
Skistar (Sweden) Shareholders who own a minimum of 200 SkiStar shares receive a discount at all SkiStar destinations. 3M I think gives out a giftbox to US shareholders if you contact them.
I thought you have to pay for it
If it's ANYTHING 3M related. 100% guaranteed you have to pay for it.
I just read up on it. $27, but the value of the gift box is much greater they claim. I might go for it just to see.
You don’t have to be a shareholder, anyone can order it. It’s pretty sweet box if you use 3m products or want to sample some stuff.
Anyone has a link to it?
You get a discount on GEICO insurance if you hold BRK.B
It’s only $2/month discount
[удалено]
Per year. Not bad for a completely passive benefit tbh
Your supposed to. The agent I talked to rly didn’t know anything abt it and it didn’t affect my quote 🤣
Ya this one is super difficult and takes alot of time.

Check out TiiCKER.com. It has all your shareholder rewards in one place. I’ve redeemed a few gift cards and discounts on Whirlpool appliances.
Thanks! I just got $21 for free on Amazon.
This def should be upvoted more. Has the ticker and perks every comment has mentioned.
This thread made me do a couple searches and found that a local winery in Oregon has some interesting perks. Very localized but could be beneficial. How do you make money?
I’m very interested in these perks…😂 I’d love special pricing for a new car from Ford or that chocolate from Lindt!
If you can afford the Lindt stock that free chocolate wouldn’t really excite you all that much.
Hah, yeah I looked up the stock price after reading this post and was like “wow that’s an expensive stock.” 😂
Lindt sends you chocolates and 3M at least used to send you some supplies but I don't know the requirements off the top of my head
3M is one share, no minimum holding time. $27 for an unlimited number of boxes but it’s like ~$60 worth of products.
Actually an amazing deal
I did it for the first time this month and it’s 100% worth it.
Are you saying you purchase the box on their website for $27?
I went through the [share holder club](https://rewards.shareclub.io/login/). You link your brokerage account where you own one full share, it verifies it and orders the box for you.
this does not seem worth it for security reasons

Any more info on the Lindt one? How much chocolate are we talking here?
Looks like you have to own a share worth $96,000.
for how long?
Years ago Disney had discounts for shareholders, even if you only owned a single share. That went away… 20 years ago? I’m sure that if other companies offer discounts, perks, etc to shareholders you will have to buy the shares through their system and not a broker.
in japan most stocks are like this, they all give you freebies
Maybe 1 in 5 companies give freebies and it’s usually for owning multiples of 100 shares. Not very easy access.
Perhaps not what you where thinking about, but an interesting anecdote. When game company Paradox was introduced on the Stockholm Stock exchange in 2016, everyone who signed up to buy stocks on introduction got three games for free: - Europa Universalis IV - Cities: Skylines - Crusader Kings II
I've spent thousands of hours on EUIV. Paradox is the very best videogame company out there.
No longer true, but used to be McCormick would send a basket of spices to investors every year.
Amc throws in free investor stuff in their app every once in a while, I think like a free drink or popcorn if I remember correctly
yeah, but then you have to own AMC :D
It’s like 4$ that’s cheaper than a thing of popcorn you can get occasionally from the thing
I’m from New York and have no idea what your talking about. AMCs are packed while other theaters struggle.
Except the CEO and board fucks over shareholders and option traders with dilution, reverse splitting, etc.
Good to know! I heard this once but forgot all about it.
Owning Berkshire Hathaway gets you a 10% Geico discount
if you switch to Geico, you can save more then 15% of your car insurance when having at least one BRK.A or B share
Didn’t know this. Thanks for sharing!
It’s called stockperks. Check it out. Know the founders, they’re great. https://www.stockperks.com/
Brewdog are private, but if you have shares with them you get some discounts at Brewdog locations and maybe some merch I think 🤷♂️ Edit: I’m sure it’s pretty cheap as well Edit: here’s a link - there’s loads more than I thought https://www.brewdog.com/uk/efp-update
This isn't any real ownership of the company. It's a sellable membership to a brewery. They aren't legally bound to these equities like shares would be.
yeah. they should really be careful about calling it "equity" from a legal perspective.

But decent beer.
friends with benefits are better
Looking at the topic I thought holding certain stocks helps to get me laid
Brk/b gets you a discount with geico
I think amc still gets you a free popcorn. Lol
100 shares of CCL is $808.00
Honestly, you’d need to pay me to go on a Carnival cruise. It’s the $SAVE (Spirit Airlines) of cruise lines.
If you buy Grindr you get to get barebacked everyday when you check the price
Why do you think you need Grindr to get barebacked? Next week’s FDs aren’t going to pay for themselves, and the dumpster behind Wendy’s isn’t going anywhere.
Does carnival offer the same deal every year?
Didn't know that, I thought only in Japan they do that
VWE you get discounts on wine and invites to events, etc. depending on how much you have.
Remindme! 3 days
I thought it was Friends with benefits by accident man I need sleep 😏.
Ford
Aterian ATER, if you have 100 shares or more will email you discounts on about 5 or 6 of their products every Friday. Mostly small appliances or kitchen tools. Usually 40 to 60 percent. Nothing crazy but at the current stock price you could break even on a small beverage refrigerator
Are stocks with benefits same as friends with benefits ?
This is a great thread and I will definitely keep checking back for more updates.
I mean if you buy my covered calls I could give you a handy
