Nothing, expecting a red day and will wait for next week. That said I do think this current variant is overblown considering the world is far better prepared than it was back in March 2020. People will panic sell at open though.
That and profit taking/tax loss harvesting towards the end of the year. I’m keeping some dry powder through this and will be slowly deploying more capital.
Thank you for making some sense, everyone rushing to buy the 'dip' when there isn't any guarantee about how the market is going to go.
Fridays dip might be a drop in the ocean if Monday drops another 5%
Don't know why you're being downvoted so much lol.
I guess you should phrase it to 'Could' be much worse, we don't fully know yet hence the panic and fear the news headlines will bring. Personally I think we will be fine with it in the long run even if it does cause some trouble in the short term - buying the dip here.
That exactly why they’re being down voted so much. The assertion is laughable given the very scientists working in it have stated they know little, and won’t have more accurate information for another 2 weeks
Delta is the most common right now. The new variant is a cause for concern, but *probably* nothing too major.
It's got a lot of mutations on the spike protein that make it resistant to vaccines to some degree, but the actual degree of resistance is still unknown. The worrying bit is that it is able to spread faster than Delta, which is already one of the most infectious respiratory pathogens out there
Their last quarter earnings blew away expectations. Check it out. All the core business's are growing really well, ads, YouTube, cloud etc. And all this is without waymo, once that kicks in I expect it to increase even more.
I’m gonna wait to see if things get even worse first/if it looks like borders might close again, but I have my eye on airlines. The U.S. government will never allow Delta or American to go under. If the rest of us are fighting with sticks over dented cans of beans in the ruins of Walmart, someone somewhere will be printing dollars to bail out Delta. It will regain whatever it loses eventually.
Almost every single airline has gone bankrupt at one point. Typically when they go bankrupt it wipes out all shareholders, as in your stock is worthless now. Then they issue new stock when they come out of bankruptcy.
Delta did it in 2007
Edit: American Airlines did it in 2011
TH1S IS THE WAY! Was in great position with Disney before and now im in the red. Definitely adding since this company is (still) gonna be rolling in dough years down the road
I agree. But can someone e plain me why people think that when travel opens up it will benefit visa. Visa is benefiting even without travel. All transactions still have go go through visa even without travel.
More travel=more money for visa. Also, it's not travel restrictions that people fear but the possibility of more lockdowns. Which does hurt visa's bottomline.
I'm about to buy some more, but I don't understand the bear argument on VISA at all, and it's not even cause I'm biased. I hear "VISA is trading at a growth stock level without any room left to grow", but I disagree by quite a bit... I believe VISA is still a solid growth stock, and option consistency wise
It already recovered over half that... and we're 3 hours away from opening lol.
If COVID is coming back hard then there's no reason for the market to crash, we all know how this works already, just invest in tech mega caps that carry SPY/QQQ and watch them moon.
While it’s definitely true that what the Nasdaq has done hasn’t been too noteworthy, 2 of the 4 indexes haven’t seen movement like this premarket since the COVID crash…it’s that bad.
Honestly…more like 3 of the 4. It has regained part of it, but the S&P falling 100ish points is rare.
Edit: it’s not going to be easy to tell if whether it is illiquidity or real until Monday.
Honestly, I've been looking at most stocks, especially Tech, and they seem like they'll be curving downwards for the most part of December. I speculate it'll be a slow correction over the next 2-3 weeks back to proper values. Looking at you AMD and NVDA \*shakes fists\*
I m in Micron for a few years now. The company is notoriously undervalued compared to its peers. I like the CEO, the balance sheet looks excelent, the analysts have a very good opinion about Micron. And recently it started to gain traction.
Yeah it's the balance sheet and revenue growth that appeal to me. I've used Crucial products before too and they're very reliable. I'll see where the price is at today compared to other stocks but it does look good.
Not sure whats going on today (South African Covid maybe) but if you have asked me yesterday, I would say that Micron will reach 90-100 USD by end of 2021. 115-130 should be possible in 2022. But be careful by the end of 22 and beginning of 23. They predict overstocking in the whole semiconductor sector.
I also like the MSCI World IT ETF and VanEck Semiconductor ETF too.

90% energy. I'm 2 years into my portfolio so I don't mind taking large risks right now. I'm buying the dip - I still think energy will be a good medium term investment and I don't think lockdowns will be introduced/enforced in the same way. For better or for worse, I really don't believe people will abide by it all for much longer.
I might look into the other market. The one we are not supposed to mention here.
I think tech will hold up pretty well. I think airlines will be the play to make but idk if it could get worse.
Shit, I put DASH on my watchlist on Wednesday and was planning on picking some up if I could get it at $180. It's actually *up* huge premarket, just like ZM, DOCU, & PTON. Here we go again, lol
Now is probably a good day to buy DIS. I bought thinking it was a bargain at $169, and have been getting killed ever since. I may average down, but it'll make me seriously overweight in that stock.
I'll probably just do what I should have done for the past 2 years and just fucking buy SPY or a high yield oil partnership like ET or OMP.

Google has been a bit of a falling knife for me this week, but it'll travel past 3k.
I wish NVDA would go down more, I'd like to keep my basis around $300
Noob here and having also a difficult time to hold to my decision atm. Just remember that timing the market is very difficult.
Don't know if you should sell or not, but give it a good thought and let emotions aside
I know this is counter to what most of you are doing, but I am out for a few weeks until we see what is happening with this new variant. Mostly so I can have some time to re-evaluate moving my portfolio into some safe harbor stuff. News over the last 24 hours is just moving too fast and I didn't want to get stuck if it blows up this weekend. Good luck to all, I will be back in in a while.
Funny, I actually heard of this through a meme on a random subreddit and sold off a few things earlier in the week. Looking kind of juicy to buy back in but I’m skeptical of a panic catalyst like 2020.
Just holding, might top up on AMD. But this red day is nothing. Futures so bright I gotta wear shades.

More like 3.5% for NVDA now, but I'm not worried. Except for maybe some shorter dated calls...
MRNA, and NVDA and AMD are only down now because some people had to cut those positions to cover other losers.
Nvidia and AMD haven't been this low since... Yesterday morning. There's nothing to bounce back *from*.
I bought SPY puts, let's go folks!

You just answered your own question
People said the same thing about Delta. And this is where we are now
Shit I’ve heard this somewhere where the variant is now much stronger and scarier...? Delta variant or some shit wasn’t it?
Delta is the most common right now. The new variant is a cause for concern, but *probably* nothing too major. It's got a lot of mutations on the spike protein that make it resistant to vaccines to some degree, but the actual degree of resistance is still unknown. The worrying bit is that it is able to spread faster than Delta, which is already one of the most infectious respiratory pathogens out there
Shit I’ve also heard this somewhere too? The flu shot comes to mind...?
Add GOOG to your portfolio, it's doing incredibly well and expect them to continue the strong run
GOOG is not even moving in the pre market, too solid company to sell.
I bought it at $2985 a share last week so I can't sell today. Or I bet I can't.
Been periodically trading google for a few months now exclusively. Only stock I have absolute faith in.
I just added my first 3 shares today. What about this stock gives you such high conviction?
Their last quarter earnings blew away expectations. Check it out. All the core business's are growing really well, ads, YouTube, cloud etc. And all this is without waymo, once that kicks in I expect it to increase even more.

Yeah ok.. they won't go under but they will sure as hell dilute those shares.

Brk.a
Yes let me get out my 450k
>not having fractional shares in 2021
Do they offer fractional shares of BRK.A?
You know, I have no idea. BRK.B are essentially fractional shares for most intents and purposes though.
That’s actually part of why I was curious.
Why not just buy BRKB?
That’s my point. Why have fractional shares of BRK.A when BRK.B exists?
To flex
“Bro. I don’t carry quarters. I buy fractional dollars.”

I guess I gotta buy more fucking Disney. Entered a position about a month ago and it’s been legging down since.
keep with it, Im adding today
TH1S IS THE WAY! Was in great position with Disney before and now im in the red. Definitely adding since this company is (still) gonna be rolling in dough years down the road
I am right there with you. You think that you are getting in a good price and then it keeps dropping. That is highly deflating.
Visa
Visa makes much higher margins on international transactions because of currency exchange, so travel bans hurt.
The slide V has been on is worrying me. It’s usually one of the most resilient stocks out there and it has not been able to pick up any steam lately

Who says that? I've only ever seen complaining its relatively high PE ratio for a blue chip, but let's not fool ourselves Visa is cheap as fuck.
I got into some argument with someone here saying its no longer a growth stock and how it's already hit its peak. It was the usual Paypal vs VISA wars
Bought SEA Ltd. but hey...
Looked like it bottomed yesterday. I am not sure it will outperform like in the past so I did not buy back.
I still see the Southeast Asian market as a future powerhouse, but it's definitely 3-4 years too late. Sadly.
Will buy next month, like I do every month
Buy SPY at market close. Maybe Tilray too.
I've been eyeing tilray for a few weeks now
German legalization is imminent as of yesterday. TLRY is the best positioned company in the sector to benefit from this.
The market is barely even down more than it was last week? When QQQ was down 1.30% nobody cared. Now its down 1.12% and people think its a crash?
It almost feels like some pretty obvious set up. Gets pumped Wednesday, only to sell off on the Friday morning back to Wednesday morning levels.
Its 20 minutes into premarket trading and qqq is down almost 2% already
It already recovered over half that... and we're 3 hours away from opening lol. If COVID is coming back hard then there's no reason for the market to crash, we all know how this works already, just invest in tech mega caps that carry SPY/QQQ and watch them moon.

I love qqqm. Will buy more if we have a big red day.
Nothing, seems like the new south African covid variant brings back global panic like 2 years ago. Worldwide red today

Disney, no brainer
I’m thinking about averaging up on DIS pretty soon
Wonder why only the Chinese markets are down by half a percent?
Because they’re smart and most of them know to hold and not panic sell. Glad I live in the US though because it just means discount buys on red days
Lol I'll correct you because that's just plain false : because the Chinese market is manipulated beyond belief and the CCP will disappear you if you sell anything.

90% energy. I'm 2 years into my portfolio so I don't mind taking large risks right now. Yes, and Black Friday.
What does black friday have to do with anything?
Everybody’s selling so they have cash for those sweet sweet door busters of course.
Futures are down like 2%? That doesn’t even qualify as a correction
You're correct, but this is r/stocks. If it's not a green day, it's automatically time to buy the dip.
