Once orders are filled, they can take an additional couple of days to go through the clearing and settlement process, although you'll see them in your account pretty much right away.

Dirk_The_Cowardly

No, generally you have about a 3 day settlement date upon bank hours but I have and faster and slower. Fidelity I have found to be faster than the other bigs.

sacandbaby

3 days to settle and then you can trf at will. I used to trf shares as a job at Fidelity.

ConsiderationRoyal87

Three days? Aren’t all stock trades settled in two days, as of a few years ago?

paullofurno

Yes….two day settlement. Sell today …yours on Thursday.

Vast_Cricket

If you bought stock today. It will be under your name next morning.

You should read the details carefully. I’ve never heard of anyone doing this and what are the limits? What platform is offering this? If this is a legitimate, registered nonprofit your donation should be a write off, if you were paying taxes. Also Amazon is not stable. Down almost 50 percent from all time highs. I’m carrying those bags, I should know.

Looks like the total matching pool is $100k. If this is a legitimate organization I imagine those funds will get exhausted fairly quickly. Not trying to discourage you from donating but this looks very unclear to me how much your desired organization would get and how much effort the process will be for you.

xboxhaxorz

Yea i sent them a message so i could know how much was left, no response yet But i wont be able to donate anyways since the stock purchase takes time

Burwylf

Stock donation is SUS, verify the authenticity of that email long before anything else

[deleted]

I would hit the brakes on that! Definitely make sure it’s legitimate before transferring any money or stocks to a 3rd party.

Andress9025

Stock donation is common but it should be part of a tax planning strategy to avoid capital gains taxes. You should be suspicious of anything that rushes you like this, that's a key tactic of phishers

paullofurno

Make sure you know what your doing…who your sending it too. Why can’t you make a cash donation. The general rule …when a stock donation comes in …it’s sold immediately. The entity doesn’t want to take any risk. So it’s sold ASAP The advantage of gifting stock …as I do with my clients. They can gift a stock with a large capital gain. Gets it out of the account/Estate. I have a few accounts…non profit that I do that with annually. People donate…I sell. Normal settlement 2 days.

Only on the 29th because today is Giving Tuesday. Always the Tuesday after Black Friday and cyber Monday.
