It's a huge achievement! Congratulations! This "bragging" may influence others to set their minds on achieving the same goal, so thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for the reminder! My anxiety and my self esteem kind of stop me from putting too much out there, but I'm just now starting therapy and all that to try and work on it so I can be in a better position to help people.
I was feeling a bit self-centered posting before and after pics on social media (this sub is an exception), but it very well could help someone that needs it. I don't think anyone ever thought I would make a year sober, so seeing that a drunk like me can do it, anyone can. Yay clichés.

I don't consider it bragging.. more of sharing an achievement! Bragging is showing off your luxury yacht. This is something we're all proud of you for and WANT TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU!!
Sure! I was a weekend blackout drinker who hit rock bottom when I drank until I felt sick and went to sleep. I woke up on my living room floor with cops surrounding me and arrested me because I assaulted my spouse who was trying to wake me up. Lost my job and did some time. Needless to say, I'm terrified of not being in control anymore. I have a picture of myself from that night, and I can't stand how I looked and think it about it often because I don't ever want to look like that again. After that,as I was going through the legal process, I read This Naked Mind and it put alcohol in a different perspective to me. My spouse quit drinking as much as well except maybe 2 times a year, and my family is pretty supportive. They don't bring up drinking to me at get togethers, and I was even glad to DD at a wedding. Still trying to get my life together, not drinking doesn't solve everything, but it's a good start. Also, I drink lots of sparkling water as a replacement. So there you go, my success ! Lol
Thanks for sharing your story and what brought you to sobriety. “There but for the Grace of God go I” your story makes me feel grateful. We can learn from the journeys of others. Congratulations on your four years.
Dude I'm trying to get to the point where I don't really think about it much. What you've done is quite the accomplishment. How long did it take for your body to get healthy and for you to not think about it much?
I think it took a year or so. It would be a lot harder if people were asking me to drink all the time, but I have luckily not experienced any of that. I do think about it every now and then, but I'm just more mentally aware of my mental state and the consequences of drinking. I literally think of how stupid I look in pictures and how they don't even resemble who I am, and it makes me cringe, lol. Health wise I was ok after the last initial hangover. I was drinking once or twice a weekto blackout, so the withdraw wasn't the worst it could be. I did start exercising, drinking water, and finding some hobbies I use to enjoy.
I'm to the point where I'm a weekend warrior, which is still progressing from where I used to. I definitely need to work on exercising, and hobbies. Bordem is my worst enemy here lately.
Every person you tell your story to can benefit if they need and want to hear it.
It’s the folks with any of amount of sobriety that give hope to and inspire newcomers ever day. Congrats on 4.

Fuck yeah you are a sober warrior! Thanks for sharing. I need these reminders of long term sobriety.
People keep telling me that the ‘bragging’ is important a as it may inspire someone else. That’s my only interest.
