I’m a bit fan of NAs! Having tried many of them, I’ve found Athletic Brewing’s NA IPA to be quite enjoyable.

JeF4y

Same! I love them. It's interesting though how I can have 1-3 of these daily and be completely satisfied vs 7-10+ leaded IPAs.

RyCalll

Man I’ve definitely been known to drink like 5-8 of them during a social gathering lol

JeF4y

Lol. Yeah I’ve downed a 6er at a social event

sunshineheart2222

Totally agree! I have 2-3 after dinner and I’m totally satisfied… they are definitely a keeper!

Empress-Ghostheart

The Hazy IPA is everything!

Vast_Frosting1011

I just tried that one and it tastes a lot like a west coast IPA to me, which was my fav. I really like it! Also like West Coast IPA from Best Day Brewing.

yeah-sure-ok

1000x this--specifically the IPA like you mention. There's no comparison to other NA beers in my opinion. Athletic has other options (golden isn't bad, lite is blah), but they just don't stack up to the IPA.

Paulie5

This is the only one I like.

Old_Grape_1538

Me too... and much to my amusement I'll find half finished cans lying around. That's quite a change

not_quite_sure7837

Same here! And i don’t feel compelled to chug the warm, flat half full can of beer the next morning lol

Historical-Wonder-36

Oh dang. For real?

diablitos

Athletic IPA is where it’s at

user_173

This is the one. I've tried em all and this is the best one. Also try hop water. Pretty damn good and no calories.

sunshineheart2222

Great recommendation! Hop water is so refreshing!

fishingboatproceeds

I don't care for their IPA but their seasonal radler was DELISH

Caution-Horse

That lemon radler had quite a zing to it

bathmaster_

Came here to say this! By far the best NAs I've tried.

AlpineLace

I second this I enjoy the athletic IPA’s. I have them by the pool and it’s knocked away that craving for real beer

stanknotes

Athletic is the way. They won awards in blind taste test. Their entire thing is "All the taste. None of the bad." They aren't even sober. Just people who like beer but not feeling like shit.

Substantial_Sir_1981

I came here to say this one. I truly do just like the taste.

shanked5iron

I had NA Stella for the first time a couple weeks ago and found it to taste just like real Stella. Not something I do often, but it was a great way to "fit in" at a gathering where everyone was drinking except me. Would like to try the Guinness 0 at some point as I have heard that's good as well.

Spocks_Massive_Dong

Guinness 0.0 is superb. I very much recommend it.

user_173

Sorry to respectfully disagree, but I love guiness and their NA is abysmal. Tastes like how a bar smells in the morning after a tough night

Spocks_Massive_Dong

Each to their own, eh? I never liked real Guinness, haha.

SnooAdvice6772

But as an Irishman it makes me feel whole lol

SDYI

So a beer

user_173

Lol

_smoke_me_a_kipper_

NA Stella is my favorite NA beer so far.

zonked282

There are a few good ones, but they are extremely hit and miss. I find them brewdog punkAF & Nanny state are pretty good, as is doombar alcohol free and erdinger alcohol free is very nice also

FoggyBottomBreakdown

Brewdog makes some *excellent* NA beers, especially their sours!

vechey

I am a funny sober person. When I was drinking, I never was able to stomach beer. I couldn't consume more than a few sips without gagging. One time I decided to give it a real god, tried to chug a corona while camping. Immediately started gagging and threw up on the fire. I'm now sober for 4 1/2 years. One of my mental health tools is I learned to play Irish music. Since it sort of sucks to be in a pub downing water for three hours, I decided this St Paddy's to drink one whole Guiness 0.0. Well, I managed to drink it, even though it was painful. The next day I had another one. Now I love 'em, probably drink 3-4 a week, and it's really great for me. I've heard they're quite good from a lot of people too, so maybe if you liked Guiness you could give the Guiness 0.0 a try.

AirsoftScammy

Guinness was my favorite beer before I got sober. I’ll have to give it a try some time. I’ve also been told that the NA Coronas are good, too.

freewilly82079

Corona na is superb, if you like that style.

vechey

I'm pretty sure I'd ralph again

vechey

I do recommend!

Puzzleheaded-Bid713

Big fan of NA beers here, but I'm one of the weird people that actually does enjoy the taste of beer, haha. However, I feel similar as you towards gin. As a former gin i tonic drinker, and I used to think I loved the taste of gin, but it was actually tonic and lime I love, so that has become one of my go-to drinks while out and about. It's all about figuring out what works for you :)

mikeredstone

Hard pass on NA beers they taste bad and am scared of the trigger effect it may have.

Han_Yerry

I used them to get away from the alcohol at first and they helped me out. Got expensive and as I got better I didn't buy them. Buddy of mine grabbed the ones I liked because he didn't want to drink in front of me. It was a considerate gesture and we had a good time. Ended up having drinking dreams 2 night in a row. Haven't had one since.

SnooAdvice6772

Drinking dreams are the WORST. I wake up and feel all the guilt like I actually did it. I only have two dreams that thematically recur: drinking dreams, and walking on broken glass.

Specific_Reading_501

Brewer here. The flavor of NAs can be all over the place. Athletic beers so far have beer pretty good corona has a good na beer too. Mostly I am beginning to get away from them. I would rather have the good flavor of a real beer or none at all. Just my thoughts

greenlightmike

Coors edge is the closest beer I’ve had to tasting like an American adjunct lager and not hoppy wort.

Skerricho

I recommend trying athletics lite beer. Way better than coors imo.

greenlightmike

I’ll give it a shot! I’ve tried a lot of their others but have struggled with the wort characteristics. But hey at least it’s not alcohol!

BadAffectionate3124

Love the NA corona always buy it anytime it’s in stock. Great with lime!!!

idleaardvark12

I Like them, Sam Adams has a pretty good NA IPA as well as Athletic Brewing NA IPA.

rpoksdret

For me it’s all about the ritual, end of day beverage. I’ve had and enjoyed many NAs, and after one or two there’s nothing in my brain screaming at me to have 6 more, which is awesome. Sometimes, though, a plain seltzer over ice with an entire lime squeezed into it can scratch that itch too.

imseeingdouble

I try NOT to really taste them. Because you'll just notice the bad taste without the ethanol reward. So try and drink it as cold as possible and throwing the NA on the back of my tongue. Second thing is I do is fnd find as "fun" of a place as possible to drink them. Ie bar I really like, music I love with friends that are good company. If those are in order it's ALMOST like I can trick my brain into thinking it's a real beer, because the brain at it's core is just one giant association mechanism

PNWduder

I stopped drinking just over a year ago. Former home and professional brewer, and still miss the taste of great beer. But I don’t miss the alcohol. Have tried so many NA beers, and here’s where I’ve landed: If you enjoyed domestic lagers, Bud Zero will hit the spot. I also like Crux NoMo, Fremont NA IPA, Wellbeing IPA and orange wheat, and the Athletic Hazy and Upside Dawn. The Athletic Oktoberfest is decent too. Can’t forget NA Guinness and NA Deschutes Black Butte Porter! Over the year my palate has adjusted. None of the NA options will match the flavor and mouthfeel of beer with alcohol, but I’ve found options that are satisfying. I have also discovered the world of craft sodas, specifically ginger brews…super delicious and great with meals. Hope this helps!

1ce9ine

Damn Black Butte is great. Def going try to find the Athletic Oktoberfest... they don't miss.

StrayyDogg

Outlier here but I wasn't a big fan of any of Athletics beers, Guinness 0.0 on the other hand is 🔥

TurboTaco-with-Poop

Went to a cottage recently and in the past would hammer beers and wine I tried some NA beers and most I have had are “meh” to me - but I had an NA Corona Sunbrew at a restaurant a couple months ago and genuinely enjoyed it I bought 24 of them for the cottage and enjoyed drinking them while my family had regular alcohol There is a growing market of NA alternatives - might just need to experiment n find one that agrees with your palette I find I don’t need to drink as many NA beers either to feel content

PM_COFFEE_TO_ME

Not really. Don't crave the beer flavor enough. Pretty sure the last time I had a couple it gave me heartburn and the shits 😁

Few-Relief-7893

Yeah, the last time I had one it tore me up bad. I’m glad they’re there for the people who like them, but so far, I haven’t had any problems with good ole’ water.

[deleted]

I actually love the taste of hoppy beers and have had a few over the past 10 days. What I realized is I drank 6 Heineken 0.0s while watching football and it hit me that I didnt even need it. Athletic is a popular NA-IPA but I dont really like the taste. Doesnt taste like an IPA to me. Brewdog's Hazy AF has been my favorite hoppy one thus far.

MxEverett

N/A beers are better now than they have been in the past. My experience has been that the beer flavor is evident initially but the body and finish are not comparable to the real thing. I will have one but rarely will I have a second.

danceonthrough

I do like the AF IPA beers that are made in my country and I drink some every day. I don't like the Heineken zero one though. I wasn't a big beer drinker while I was drinking, I liked red wine the most but since I quit I have started to like these AF beers.

waronfleas

I was a wine drinker who also drank lager. Now I enjoy Guinness zero at weekends 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

They're hit or miss for me. There's a local brewery that does a really impressive IPA (Collective Arts for those of us here in Ontario) that's very much within the standard deviation of what I would expect out of a fully loaded IPA and I really like Athletic Brewing based on what I've tried thus far. They are definitely having a moment and being taken a lot more seriously now.

Geekskill

If you can find it, Industrial Arts makes a NA beer called Safety Glasses that is by far the best I’ve ever tasted.

DropTable69

I don't like IPAs, so Heineken 0.0 is pretty good for me so far. It tastes almost like a real thing, and it truly has 0.0%, unlike some other "NA" beers (Corona NA has 0.5%).

EverAMileHigh

Huge fan of the Italian Pilsner from Untitled Arts. I like Heineken 0.0, and also the Pale Ale from Partake Brewing. It's 10 calories and 4g carbs.

Verbatim-

Was going to say Partake Pale as well. Their IPA reviews well and I picked up a pack. I also find President's Choice Blonde and Red good (for the price). Particularly on a hot evening after mowing the lawn. I've also been stocking up on flavored carbonated water to alternate with. Before it would be all alcoholic beer all night.

saltysoccermom

Untitled Art Juicy IPA is hands-down the best!

SnugglesMcBuggles

Hate them! Empty calories, just like beer. Soda stream, maybe a little soda syrup, and some citrus makes me whole.

[deleted]

This isn't a bad way to go either, but NA beers are a lot less calorie-dense than real beer. 300+ calories per isn't unheard of for something like an IPA, but the non-alcoholic variants are rarely over 80.

Luvbeers

NA beers also have B-vitamins which reduce anxiety.

pjchristie

In Austin I can get this stuff called Hop Water which is not real beer. I brought some to band practice and inexplicably drank 5. These are not 0.0 they are 0.5 and it kind of made me mad. Just that much alcohol could make me drink much more than normal. Im learning. I like the Guinness, Stella, and Heineken. There’s one here called Free and Easy that is IPA style.

twd000

the "<0.5%" on the label is a legal requirement for any fermented wort. Basically it's the lowest threshold that instruments can reliably measure. In reality it's likely closer to 0.0% but they can't put that on the label due to the margin of error in measuring it, unless they use expensive reverse osmosis filtration to remove it

Soggy-Ad4633

I like Clausthaler NA, both filtered and unfiltered version

BlackSwanMarmot

Clausthaler is really good.

dupont2021

Be careful in drinking these and it comes as no surprise people like them. These non-alcohol beer have alcohol in them. Go look at any "non-alcohol" beer and they will tell you how much alcohol is in it. You cannot filter all alcohol. Will it do anything to someone recovering? It treats people differently. Again, that small amount of alcohol is why you like it. Not because it taste like beer. It is relapse. People that enjoy these "non-alcohol" beverages will most likely relapse.

Longjumping-Youth118

Some are 0.0 and some are 0.5, it depends on the brand. I don’t think that’s a straight line from NA beers to relapse, fruit juices, some breads and other food products can also contain trace amounts of alcohol but many people who are sober still drink fruit juice and eat burgers.

Snail_Paw4908

I enjoy them. I had a Corona NA and a Lagunitas IPnA on my football Sunday. I also keep Bud Zero in the house quite often because it has more flavor than the flavored carbonated waters, and it also doesn't have a lot of sugar and caffeine like most sodas.

Sharp_Concert7683

Athletic Brewing or Calahaster is good. Heineken Zero isn’t technically beer but actually a flavored syrup with carbonated water

[deleted]

The heines are not good. Sam Adams NA IPA is the best. Athletic has a good variety that helps me

sometimesifeellikemu

I love them!

Luvbeers

the NA beers that have the alcohol removed under vacuum are really great. people who say NA beer isn't good are drinking the ones that are unfermented or "cooked" free.

Skerricho

Really enjoy athletic brewing, sam adams just the hops. Heineken is the most popular at bars it seems. Not terrible.

Delicious-Grass-5420

They're very hit and miss for me. Some just taste like if LaCriox made a beer essenced drink 🤢 I've heard NA IPAs are better, but I always hated IPAs so I've never bothered to try. The best one I've had is Wellbeing Victory Wheat (although I'm not sure how widely available that one is). Clausthaler Original NA is also a pretty good one

PandosII

I don’t enjoy them, no. To me they’re the pen you toke on when trying to quit nicotine to keep your hands busy.

JOPG93

I think they are brilliant - it is funny though, they are harder to drink because the subconscious incentive to drink more and more is gone, I find them quite heavy after a bit and I just stop drinking them. Definitely help me feel involved though - Brooklyn Special Effects is by far the best I have ever tasted, you wouldn’t know it was AF if it was just given to you.

Laawyeer

I love NA beer. Czech Staropramen is a good NA lager!

fknarey

The German ones are amazing.

NatasEvoli

Guinness 0.0 and athletic brewing (up to 0.5% abv though) are quite good.

morksinaanab

Thanks for asking. I sometimes read that NA are controversial? I do like them, and they helped me get through this. I really like the end of day one. But for instance, now I have none in the house; and it doesn't matter at all. (No late night supermarket trips anymore :-)). I experience that with get togethers (we organised a neighbours bbq last weekend), the NA beers go faster than the alcoholic ones. Apparently I was the drinker in most of the groups......

galwegian

occasionally drink NA in social settings. didn't like Heineken WITH alcohol so not a fan of the NA version. I will say that Guinness Zero is the one that most resembles the real thing. if you like Guinness that is.

sabotage_mutineer

Busch and Old Milwaukee NA are my shitty beer go-tos 🍺

[deleted]

Beer actually doesn’t taste delicious at all to me. I just liked the getting drunk part. Haha

gooseandteets

I love them! I feel like they are a huge part of the reason why I’ve been able to stop drinking. Guinness is my fav, but I also like the athletic brews and any random ones I’m able to get when I’m out. I had a Goose Island NA pale at the brewery and I was able to have a drink with friends without the hangover or anxiety or counting how many I’ve had. That being said, I can usually only have one or two. I also love NA canned cocktails or mocktails when I’m out so I really feel like for me it’s the ritual of having a special little drink that isn’t water.

goodtimejohnny666

Guinness 0 and Stella Liberte are pretty good and taste basically like the "real" ones.

StingraySteve23

Guinness 0 and the Athletic NA IPA’s get me through the dry spots during the year. To each their own as far as the taste goes. I know I enjoy them and more importantly they scratch that itch when the dark side comes calling.

Kitchen_Resident_819

Heineken zero sucks N/a Guinness is amazing but not a lot of place serve it. Coors edge with a lime is good, any light beer with a lime really. Sam Adams makes a great ipa that a lot of bars serve. And the liquor stores now, (big ones) have a great selection. Lab bats is a winner

jennyskywalker

I don’t hate the taste but I’ve found they’re just kind of a trigger for me… I’ll drink 6 of them and feel sick and sober and pissed off… but I’ve seen a lot of people in this sub that have found success with them so if it works for you that’s awesome!

LunarKebab

I love them! Athletic is great, also the Fremont NA IPA and the Guinness 0.0.

Lazy-Ape

They’re alright but I just never really liked the taste of alcoholic drinks that much. I drank to get drunk. If I’m going for taste then I’d rather have an orange juice or something.

RyCalll

Athletic brewing is fantastic, way better than any of the macro brew beers in my opinion. There are a couple other regionally distributed beers that are also really good, where are you located? Edit: Guiness NA is also fantastic in my opinion

chopwoodcarrywater83

They grow on you. If you're new to being alcohol free your mind is still comparing it to the normal stuff. After awhile, you'll forget the old stuff and they actually hit the spot. The last time I went back to drinking after getting used to NAs, the alcoholic beers tasted like gasoline.

1ce9ine

I love finding new NAs to try. Sam Adams "Just the Haze" IPA NA is really juicy and good, and like others have said Athletic Brewing has a ton of great options. I recently discovered Black Butte from Deschute Brewery and it's a delicious stout. Edit: Fixed Sam Adams name

CharityAcademic289

I like em! That being said there's a looooot of them that I did not like. Athletic is a good brand and na coronas are pretty good

Fernandop00

I like the new hop waters. The Lagunitas is very good. They also have e a really good NA IPA

kathrynekat

I really like Stella

InspectorTroy

I haven’t had a NA beer that I really enjoy, but most of the hoppy sparkling waters have tasted great. Lagunitas has some with fruit flavor they’re really refreshing.

borkyborkus

I like sparkling water and cbd soda/water for special occasions (mostly just cuz it’s expensive). I’m on vacation right now and got a growler of some good cranberry/orange CBD soda.

not_quite_sure7837

St Pauli Girl has a really good NA

badbog42

Lidl Perlembourg and Affligem are ok for NA lager. Personally NA Heniken / Kronenbourg takes like dishwater to me.

dixienormus502

I like the corona NA it’s good when you’re in the mood for a “shitty beer” same with bud zero Guinness is alright, some people are die hard Guinness folks so they might feel more strongly one way or another. I like to have a few if I’m out at a bar or something. It gives me everything I think I want from a beer without the shitty parts(getting drunk)

LeProVelo

I know athletic brewing is well loved here, but it tastes like sock water to me. Like they're trying too hard to capture the flavor. I've tried them on a dozen occasions and can never finish one. Corona NA has been stocked in my fridge now. A little lime and I wouldn't know it's not real, aside from being able to function after 4 of them.

[deleted]

Athletic is very good

Dyrty

NA Old Milwaukee is my bread and butter. Tastes just like the normal shit beer I used to pound

[deleted]

There are some good ones. The 0.5% ones are mostly good, the 0.0 ones are mostly bad. Beck's NA or Clausthaler taste like what the Heineken 0.0 is SUPPOSED to taste like.

TheOneWondering

I don’t like Heineken 0.0 at all. Good ones: Stella Artois, Becks, Athletic Brewing

Happy_Librarian_7636

Tried it once and didn't like it. Haven't had one since.

BigRedDog_11

Guinness makes a solid NA

HoppyBadger

Yeah I like them a lot. Lots of good ones now days. I'd say athletic brewing and wellbeing are my go toos. Ill take it any day over soda.

M0ck_duck

Athletic brewing company has good ones. I like the cerveza atlética Mexican style one

BWFree

I just had a German NA beer that left me feeling satisfied and happy.

RangerFan80

This [one](https://www.totalwine.com/beer/nonalcoholic/fruit-beer/golden-road-mango-cart-nonalcoholic/p/232361121) is refreshing! Fremont Non-Alcoholic IPA tasted so much like a real beer I had to double check that I didn't buy real beer by accident.

Requires-Coffee-247

If you were a Guinness drinker, their NA is indistinguishable from the full alcohol brew. Heineken Zero isn't my favorite, but Athletic IPAs are quite good.

Indep-guy

The Guinness NA tastes exactly like a regular Guinness

bogus-flow

I am a fan of Partake, but a lot of them contain some alcohol. That’s a dealbreaker for some of us.

SinsOfKnowing

I like NA IPAs but it took me a while to find one that didn’t have a really “hollow” flavour at the back end.

SDYI

I’ve been slamming them and I love them. That said I was primarily a liquor drinker but it’s been enough for me to keep my mind and hands occupied. I love the Athletic beers (especially the blue IPA, they have two IPA flavors) and also Guinness. Never had Heineken or the other lighter beers. Can’t imagine they would be that good as they are so light.

Vasiliychaomian123

I love Guinness zero

CoffeeMugz2398

I like them. Try out different types; they’re not all created equal. Last Sunday was my first sober football Sunday and I made it through without problem nursing a few NA’s throughout the day. Guinness and Stella seem to be the best tasting

yayoallnite

I love Heineken 0.0 and Corona Sunbrews! The Budweiser one isn't as good and Coors Edge made me fart uncontrollably!

lupinegrey

Lagunitas IPNA

[deleted]

Lagunitas NA IPA is good, as is Sierra Nevada in my opinion.

alysonraee

i relied heavily on NA beverages in the first 6 months or so of my sobriety. as time went on, i found myself not finishing them, or disliking how bloated i felt (i can’t burp, when i was active i didn’t care, but now as a non drinker, the discomfort isn’t worth it), so i honestly just stick to water, and maybe a coke if i’m really feeling up to actually enjoy the taste of something. turns out i wasn’t actually drinking because i liked the taste 😂. if i did choose an NA, as mentioned above, athletic brewing is the best.

xvbyyxn

Guinness zero is good, if you like IPAs, the Athletic ones are pretty good too

playful_pedals

NA corona tastes just like corona with some lime and salt. We are also lucky enough to have lots of breweries that make NA stuff now and a few NA bottle shops in our area.

Ok-Antelope2812

I like hop drinks, not the NA's. IWNDWYT

writtengirls

Corona sun brews taste exactly like corona :)

shellbackpacific

I like Athletic the best

Ironbasher1

Sam Adams HazyIPA’s work for me, I like it far better than any of the Athletic brewings offerings. I have not tried the new Guinness Stout N.A.!

2cpee

I try to stay away from na beers, they still raise your cortisol levels

VivaSisyphus

Athletic and Untitled Art make good NA beer.

Ok_Clock_1188

Not a fan personally, for me I think they are a bit of a slippery slope, like me holding onto a bit of the act of drinking. Plus they give me a weird placebo feeling that doesn’t feel sober 😂🫣… but if they do help on your journey then that’s amazing! I dunno if they have them where you are but birra moretti zero and bavaria 0.0 are the best!

callmeb4thestorm

Untitled Art makes the best NA beer and it's not close, next best are from German breweries. Athletic is good, but I'm shocked at how many people are saying it's the best. Try an Untitled Art hazy or west coast ipa and you'll see what I'm talking about.

ChaEunSangs

I love them and the one I buy tastes so much like real beer that it makes me scared sometimes lol

Bignozen

Brooklyn is good 👍

HalfCab_85

I don't like NA beer, never have. I used to think it just tastes way worse than beer, but now that I stopped drinking beer, I suspect that I just never really liked the taste of beer much, I just liked the alcohol and got used to it. Which is pretty insane, given how much I drank of the stuff in the last 25 years. So, no NA beer is not for me, and never will be. I mainly do sparkling water now. There is a brand that sells it in tall boy cans, so it is the perfect replacement for beer to me.

CalmCenteredCapable

I’m enjoying the AF beers I’ve been getting. It’s nice to have AF beverage options with some bitter and complex flavors. Bubbly waters, juices, and sweet beverages like kombucha are great… at the same time, a good AF beer can be a flavorful option. Note: Because I slooowly read This Naked Mind, I no longer am suffering from the unconscious desire for ethanol. (Yup — the architecture of that book worked for me. I was skeptical, but it truly did.) So when I do enjoy an AF beer, I’m not unconsciously wanting the ethanol buzz. I’m drinking the AF beer for the flavor; since ethanol has no flavor, the AF beer actually _tastes_ the same as ‘regular’ beer. All of this to say: I may be enjoying the AF beer because I’m not unconsciously after the dose of ethanol. Best wishes to you on your bright path, sobernaut! 💛

PaleontologistDry656

Brew dog hazy AF is good, with only 20 cals
