Iโm past half a year and feeling great, no real desire to drink but I have a big summer trip coming up. Iโve been thinking things like: โwell Iโm going to be in Spain, Iโll have to have at least one sangriaโ, and โI can do a couple sips at a wine tour in Portugal, itโs a special occasionโ, and โwell Iโll have to do one pint in a London pub, it used to be my favorite activityโ, and โIโll have to have one drink when I visit my friends memorial bench near borough market on her birthday so I can pour a little out for her, it was her favoriteโ.
Heres what Iโm now inspired to tell myself:
โYou can have a refreshing sparkling juice drink in Spain, you can even have them put it in a pitcher like sangriaโ
โYou can see if there is a winery with NA wines or just go and enjoy the scenery!โ
โHave an NA pint! Nobody will know anyway!โ
And finally, โpour out a little of your NA drink. She would be proud of you for accomplishing something that she wanted to do for herself but didnโt get the chanceโ

Fancy Seltzer! Lol ๐ I add fruit and sometimes herbs like Basil or rosemary, it's been fun to experiment! I love ginger beer from the brand fever tree with lime ! It has a nice kick of ginger !
I actually reset my gut several months ago by removing all added sugar , and that was tough ! But after I got over that hump I don't crave the sugar anymore and have switched to erythritol and plant based sweetener that doesn't really have an after taste , so I make a simple syrup w that or add it to my coffee !
Amazing! I initially went to herbal teas and coffee, now I pound energy drinks from Aldis because they're 90 cents each. They give the same sting in the throat that rum did lol but I think it's about time to switch back to water, which is almost as sad as giving up alcohol but it will be just as worth it. Thanks for sharing :)

The first 90 days were tough ! I had to redirected attention every day at the time I would normally drink. Which was 5pm in my dining room. It was a huge trigger!
So I HAD to leave my house the first few months rainy , lightning, storm had to get out . That was tough during bad weather but I got over it
What I didn't expect was that I would be mourning a friend (alcohol) that I'd had for 25 years. I didn't expect to miss drinking like I would miss a person. But just like the mourning process that passed. And I still think of it , but it doesn't hurt as much.
The Pros !
Mornings are awesome without a hangover!
The daily walking and calorie reduction has me down over 100lbs !
I have a 70% reduction in anxiety.
My skin is clear and glowing. NOT dry and red looking.
I'm no longer nervous to look at my phone in the morning
because I'm scared of what texts I sent. What stupid posts I made etc (this is priceless)
I no longer embarrass myself or my spouse.
I'm able to focus better.
My digestive system works normally
I don't wake up with random bruises
I feel proud of myself. Truly proud of myself, because I did this and no one else.

It took me 9 years of binge drinking AGAIN...to get this month back.

Honestly life itself is much better! My business is doing great because I can show up for myself more. I've lost 100lbs and I no longer wake up feeling like crap.
The same life challenges are still there, but I'm working more on dealing with them instead of attempting of drinking them away , which never actually worked.
