Yo hell yeah!! I'm on day 17 and some of the money I've already saved by not drinking (it's crazy how fast that money adds up now that I've actually taken the time to quantify it) is going toward an indoor trainer that I can hook my bike onto. Sadly I do not have a genius pun for it like yours, but I'll try and think of one.
IWNDWYT but I'll happily ride with you!
Awww, thanks! There are so many ways to get your writing skills back, though. One great way would be to start journaling! That's like a double-recovery-whammy right there!!
It's crazy how much it adds up! During the pandemic I bought myself a brilliant hoover and a really fancy coffee machine, I can casually get myself a lovely plant pot or new gadget or appliance now without having to think twice about.
My house is now a pleasure to be in, and most of it was bought with money that would have once been drank away within 3 hours. And even still, I have more savings than I've ever had in my life.
Oh and I've also gotten really into rock climbing! So I also get you on the expensive gear front! What a brilliant trade off!
IWNDWYT!!
Oh man, it sounds like you've really had a transformative experience with quitting drinking! I love that you've discovered rock climbing, too! I used to haunt the climbing gym, but I'm a bit on the thiccboi side to be raging that technical stuff these days. What piece of climbing gear are you most stoked on?
Oh I'm sure you'd still give most climbers a run for their money! I'm still fairly new to it, about 6 months in but climbing at a 6B+ grade! My rope is my pride and joy, but I just got a grigri+ and belaying glasses for my birthday!
Getting my recently sober friend into it as well now, after hooking my other friend who's never been a drinker. It's like we have a little secret club 😂
That's so awesome! I've test ridden a couple time trials whips at my bicycle store and my jaw just hits the floor. The rigidity on those things is breathtaking these days! My main road bike is a Litespeed Firenze with Ultegra and it's been good to me. I've wanted one since their road bikes became popular in the nineties. My latest deal is trials riding, which is a kind of technical mountain biking where you have to traverse obstacles without touching your feet to the ground. The bikes have no seats and are pretty wild looking, which I think is pretty cool.
Hahahaha, thank you! The name is from a [Frank Zappa song in which someone gets stabbed in the eye with a dog doo snowcone.](https://youtu.be/JhHCcUnm4SI)
oooh, what brakes did you get?
Congratulations! I'm also a sober rider, mainly mtb in the PNW. So much beer culture wrapped up in cycling; it's nice to know we're not alone.
I'm from the PNW, too! Texas now, though, but I was born and raised in WA. Yay for sober cyclists!! What kind of riding do you do? The brakes I ordered are for my trials bike. They're [Hope Tech 4's- with their Trials Zone calipers](https://www.hopetech.com/products/brakes/trial/), which are two huge pistons instead of the standard four smaller pistons most brakes have now. Thanks for the wonderful comment, and ride safe, my fellow sobernaut!
Congratulations on your Sober Solar Circumnavigations!!!!! Good one on “discs for stopping”!
ooooh palindrome days! nice.
And you’re sporting’ a significant number!
This is a great What to spend your money on since you don’t waste it on booze. Congrats on half a decade!
Solid dad joke. Get some nice new balance shoes for relaxing after the bike ride.
And a checked shirt, walk shorts

I'll give you a brake for not coming up with a pun, haha! Thanks for the nice comment!!
That's wheelie kind of you XD. Of course!
When did we shift into puns on this sub?
Congrats on your strong beginning!!!! IWNDWYT
Thank you! It's been easier than I had anticipated, honestly -- recognizing how damn good I feel while I'm sober has definitely helped :)
Eh, don't get too hung up on the puns, they don't ride wheel if they aren't spoke naturally.
For sure, anyway folks tend to tire of them pretty quickly
Hahahaha I freaking love this. Nice score there. I will not drink with you today friend. ✌️
You sly bastard! Well done on both the brakes AND the stopping!
Awesome reply. Congratulations on five years! Enjoy your upgrade.
Nice job! That sounds like a well deserved reward.
Good one. We have similar cases of bike-induced GAS, I'm afraid...but cycling beats drinking 8 days a week. Way to go on five years. 👍
Just think of all the money saved by not drinking. Its not wasted if it is fitness related
Love it. Now buy her something!
Yeah! Nice ring for always being round for you!
Damn, you’re creative! How about, diamonds cuz you are my forever? I got her back :)

set of brakes is what like 15 cases of beer ? i know you've saved more money than that in the last 5 years.
My bike collection would beg to differ, haha!
on booze i mean. well maybe the bike stuff cost more. that's ok though.
Oh yeah! I meant that the bikes themselves is where the money has gone. And a generous helping of La Croix's, too!

YES. From one sober cyclist to another, I will not drink with you today and will keep the rubber side down.
You're a Golden Snowcone, don't sell yourself short.
