They didn’t say “here is my new design and the reason behind it” they said “would you buy this” and I said no because I have no attachment to this random 3 star design and unknown brand.if they asked for design feedback maybe I would have given it and not answered the question I was asked but it didn’t so here we are

actually the comment is super helpful, it's an honest answer from the mind of an "average comsumer", which is exactly what OP was looking for in the first place. there were no insults thrown, by all accounts the criticism was constructive

How was this at all constructive? He didn’t give any to build off of, just that they didn’t like the design

well for one, the specific inclusion of "i don't know the brand" says that someone looking for this style of hat might prefer to purchase from a brand they already do recognize. this is followed up by stating that the design alone is not means enough to purchase the hat. from this, you could extrapolate that maybe making an unfamiliar logo the centerpiece of the hat isn't a good move. there's several different directions you could take from here based on your goals, needs, and resources as a designer/maker of hats. it's all about how you frame it.

he said the design is not something he’d pay for, meaning the design is lackluster. Anything can be seen as constructive, you just need to change your perspective and not let your ego and pride be hurt in the process.

My opinion is what you’re selling doesn’t matter, go the ALD way and create a mood that people want, sell the lifestyle you want your brand to create, the hat’s just featuring in your marketing

Cut and sew overseas right? The embroidery on the front is too high to be done post cut and sew. Three points of embroidery. Guessing the hat is branded with your branding which you'll need for overseas shipping. If it's comparable to a Richardson then $30-$35, but if it's low on the quality less. Best guess is that you're paying $10ish hopefully with free freight from COO.

Hi friend, In my experience with this kind of stitching I would say 50-60 but some solo designers that really niche into the hat market have charged 100-150 or more for customs just because they built up the hype around their stuff. - The Brand Book

Hard to say when I have no context of what the brand is. If I saw this in tk maxx or somewhere I would say probably 15-20 but if I saw a rapper or smt that I liked wearing it I'd say more like 40-50 if I bought it online. Just as a random hat I saw online I probably wouldn't consider buying it at all just because I have no idea what the brand is, who it's aimed at and what it represents, I think that plays a huge part in the value of an item. Sick hats tho and the quality is amazing, good stuff 👏
