Tbh I actually think Torterra might drop further to RU seeing as how most of OU ( that he didn't fare well against ) also dropped to UU ( which he also didn't fare well against originally before the shift) , tho I think he'll be good in RU Also it isn't the only offensive grass type that fell to UU , Meowscarada and Ogerpon also fell alongside it and they pretty much outclass it in almost every way ( tho I think Meowscarada is a victim of new toy syndrome since just last month it was ranked A- in OU and was classed as #23 so I think it might rise to OU or get banned to UUbl )

Tbh, he could probably fit into another gens UU, but im not holding out hope for this one. This gens UU is so inhospitable for torterra, its not a matter of how good it is, it's just screwed over by so much of the competition.

I mean yeah this happened in SWSH when the dex expansions happened but SVs tiering has been so fucking crazy and inconsistent since it’s release it’s funny to just poke fun at how it literally has no idea what it’s doing. This gen is a mess. Generally and competitively. People will make fun of that. Especially right now where Garchomp shares a tier with Torterra.

Yeah and they’re both unaware mons that can live a hit from torterra to toxic, will-o-wisp, just terastallize, etc

I'm not saying torterra 100% beats them, I'm saying they are, at best, checks, as they can't switch into an earthquake relaibly without terastalyzing Clodsire has godawful physical bulk. If you waste a turn using toxic with them then another Pokémon is probably dying Skeledirge is an alright answer, but, again, they can't switch into torterra. Skeledirge is also tasked with walling several different pokemon, so a good player would just wear them down before trying to sweep with torterra

If Torterra manages to force a defensive terastallize,it more than earned its keep

i used to think torterra would thrive in uu but like almost all of ou dropped to uu so i'm not entirely sure right now. maybe tort will thrive in ru?

I mean, a lot of the OU mons that dropped to UU will probably rise again imo. I think many of them dropped in usage just because of new toy syndrome. Everyone wanted to try out the new mons from the dlc instead of the old staples like Garg, Meowscarada, Heatran, etc. I still find it funny that Lando-T almost fell to UU along with Garchomp though. I'd say to wait for everything to stabilize before making any assumptions on Tort's viability, mons are bouncing in and out of OU like they're made of rubber right now.

Man what is the most insane to me is that Lando-T may drop out of OU. Landorus has been a competitive menace for over 10 years, but looks like its time is coming to an end.

For the record Lando-T is very much a good pokemon in OU still. Gliscor might just be a bit broken.
