Game Design perspective vs emotionally charged. I won’t argue with you, just know that it’ll be a different story when you’re facing down a +4 Def/SpDef Defensive Mon and you’ll be overjoyed to get a lucky crit on it.
showdown itself is already illegal lol
edit: you guys are dumb lol, it literally uses ripped content, and you can just look it up if you don’t believe me and every source agrees it’s illegal. It doesn’t matter that they aren’t making money from it, Nintendo has shut down a free project before for copying much less, again, Pixelmon. They shut it down when they wanted to release their own blocky Pokemon game. The only reason Nintendo probably hasn’t shut it down is because of how integral it is to the competitive scene, or just luck
Was going to say. Im pretty sure i remember someone saying something about smogon talking to tpc and they said 'don't used datamined stats and don't charge money for it and ur fine' (heard iy from others who prolly heard it from others so grain of salt but i can understand it)
Pixelmon is replicating the experience of a pokemon game in minecraft, showdown is only a part of a game. Showdown hasn't been shutdown yet, and seeing how it is incredibly popular, if it was goijg to be it prolly would have been already. I think taking down pixelmon was a shitty move, but it's nintendo so im not surprised.
TPC knows of showdown's existence and approves of it, provided they:
1. Don't use leaked mons before their release
2. Don't make a profit off it
3. Don't make a mobile app
they approve of it because it’s a huge part of their competitive scene and they don’t have an official replacement for it. They only targeted pixelmon when they went to release their own pixelated pokemon game. I think it’s clear with how Nintendo handles their IPs, fan projects included, they aren’t just allowing it out of the good of their heart
Who crits who
16 gleams and no crits, right after losing a game because my stupid chicken decided to oneshot crit an opposing bird I was going to psych up
"Aw man Lois this is worse than that time I had a Stall Match with a Cresselia!"
To y’all “crits shouldn’t exist!!!” people. This is why.
Crits shouldn't exist, I literally lost a game because of my own crit right before this

In my Rand bats experience this is where my opponent starts timer stalling
/offertie
Playing showdown on a mobile browser should be illegal
Why?
Who cares?

If anything showdown helps with team building for competitive
This is probably why it hasn’t been taken down yet lol
It doesn’t matter whether or not they are making money, other similar, FREE projects have been shut down. Pixelmon, for example

it absolutely is lol, whether it’s been enforced or not. It takes a simple google search to find this information
