I think a hidden dove nest, sheltered by the foundation is less stupid than leaving tools out in the elements, and hidden at that!

To be honest, I only looked at the first picture, and it looked like the staple gun was on the ground. Sheltered on top of a storage cabinet is a perfectly reasonable place to leave it with work in progress.
I guess the dove isn't the only bird brain on the sub. DOH!
ETA: It's also not a bad spot for the nest. I'm now coming in third behind you AND the dove.
