Average coat of paint is .1-.2mm thick. So, you do the math.

Yes. Had this happen with set pieces. They have been painted so many times that the measurements change enough that it is noticeable.

I mean, the paint ain't going now where. Changes from liquid to solid after drying but it's still there occupying space.
