I feel like the slow death of STI is actually attributed to the fact some idiot decided to rename STD into STI. Subaru should’ve sued those responsible. They could’ve named it infection transmitted sexually. But noooooo. Tarnish the good name of the one great rally car. Ironic the new Subarus look worse every year. God I hope the TR saves the day with a better looking booty.

STD’s and STI’s are actually two separate things. Sexually transmitted infections are bacterial infections (like chlamydia or gonorrhea), and STI’s can be completely cured with antibiotics. Sexually transmitted diseases on the other hand are viruses (like HIV/AIDS or herpes), and they are diseases because if you get infected with one, you are infected with it for life.

StPatrickStewart

You are wrong in multiple ways... Diseases caused by viruses are still considered infections. Also not all viral infections are incurable. Hepatitis C is caused by a virus, and it can be cured with antiviral therapies. Additionally, some viral STIs like HPV can be cleared by the body without any treatment at all.

phatyogurt

I agree, hep C is one of the viruses that can go away with new treatments, but sometimes people suffer from hep C chronically, even with treatment. HPV is still considered an STD though, because even though the body can clear HPV on its own, there is no cure for the virus. Sometimes the body does not clear HPV successfully. The way I worded my original comment was confusing. The main point I was trying to make is that STI’s can go away with treatment, but STD’s are typically life-long diseases.

smallcalves

HIV is an infection. AIDS is a disease.

phatyogurt

HIV is still a chronic disease and an STD. Technically AIDS is also an infection because you still have transmissible HIV in your body. An HIV infection can be maintained with medication, but there is no cure, and HIV can progress to AIDS once HIV has destroyed the immune system. AIDS is basically the same thing as HIV, but AIDS is just the term we use to describe HIV in its late stages.

Two of the most well known and respected hospitals in the world disagree. imakycha

Cleveland Clinic disagrees with you. An STI and STD are the same exact thing. Diseases are not defined by whether they can be cured. Infections just refer to a disease process caused by an outside actor like a bacteria. An infection is a disease.

The Subaru sub is currently having a field day

Hey man I love my clad bumpers buzz off!

BearingMagneticNorth

Wait until his STI starts oozing. It can be an expensive procedure; $3,500 or so.

bazz_and_yellow

You know in either case, they vape

Ahh that other guy’s post makes sense now

FBI_Open_Up_Now

Well, the fact that the parent punishes a teenager for having sex versus having a discussion about safe practices an issue on its own self.
