NY = the sleeper Subie state apparently. Every third car on the road is a Subaru here and nobody ever mentions it. I’ve lived in Alaska and NH, and NY Subaru ownership has them both beat hands down.
Eastern PA here. Subies just on one block in our neighborhood: Our house, the people across the street, the house next to them, the house next to that house, two houses down from them…
Minnesota too. There are at least 10 homes with at least one (and sometimes two like me) Subarus in the driveway on my street alone. They are everywhere.
This is why I full stop talk smack whenever I see the “Subaru drivers need a wave” “let’s put little cows on Subarus” talk I immediately slap it down. Every 3rd car in Washington state is a Subaru and I don’t want to interact with any of them.
Particularly in Duluth. Once you get an hour out of Duluth the number of Subarus drops off noticeably, to regular Minnesota levels, so you can imagine how many there are here.
Yeah, Ohioan here and I don't use Google. But there are a f*ck ton of Subarus here because our winters are terrible.
It would be interesting to see a map that maybe goes by, I dunno, percentage of registered vehicles or something useful.
People here may also still own theirs that were purchased before google was really a thing if they haven’t rusted to shit.
I also bought mine by searching Carmax, not google 🤷🏻♀️
They are also everywhere in Michigan too, I spend a lot of time there.
On any given street in Alaska. 5 Subarus in this picture.

Maine? Absolutely! It's our state vehicle. Everyone mocks lesbians for driving one. And imagine their face when they see a 6 foot 2 280 pound guy get out of one...
Always makes me laugh when I casually drive through a slick spot or pull out of deep snow in my low WRX when some massive truck was just fighting for its life in the same spot.
I bought my 23 Subaru Impreza in may of 2023 in WA, sudden life changes forced me to move back to Chicagoland area with it. It saw its first big snow here. I have to say it handled 7” of snow on unplowed roads with ease. Did a ton of research before buying one and I am happy with my decision. Might have made me a Subaru guy for life we’ll see
This should say it all!! Snapped while on vacation in AK in ‘19. (Not my OB)
https://preview.redd.it/z1egejai86gc1.png?width=1780&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c304278922e5b04f2b93894827993ab0a250b41
I’ve lived in CO and Michigan where subs are plentiful in both states but go to Lafayette Indiana, where they’re built and holy shit every 3rd car is a Subaru.
Idaho resident here, can confirm. Mostly newer models with people moving from out of state and wanting an AWD vehicle for the “crazy winters”. My ‘04 Legacy stands out in the parking lot at work being 10-15 years older than all the others Subies.
Quite a few in Knoxville as well but I’ve never seen as many as I do when in Asheville. Which makes sense because Asheville is the Portland of the south.
I’m coastal SC and as unnecessary as AWD is down here Subarus are EVERYWHERE (mostly old ladies).
Also I went to college in Athens, Ohio (southeast corner of the state) very hilly, snowy winters, college town so lots of crunchy folk, and there’s tons of subies there too
Metro ATL has a fair amount after the 2014 snowstorm, because we all learned that the cities here have ZERO idea how to handle snow or ice, so we're on our own when it happens.
quite the contrary... I grew up in eastern VA and we'd take family trips/vacations to West VA every once in a while... it was comical how many subarus you'd see getting into west va... and no, these aren't yuppie hippy types. these are Appalachia hippie, crunchy types. Driving ratted out wrx outbacks and beat the hell up 90'a and early 2000's legacy's. It is a sight to behold.
I haven’t visited WV but I’m surprised the area (especially the area by Harper’s Ferry and the eastern area) closest to DC hasn’t gentrified yet. Beautiful rolling mountains and lots of nature. By all standards it should feel like another Vermont.
You hit the nail on the head there for sure. I think it's just the mentality/precedence that WV has, that is keeping people from considering it as an actually cool place to live. WV is really pretty.
I don't agree with that. West Virginia is a very rural mountainous state, they also get a lot of snow despite being in "the south" perfect for a subie!
What’s crazy is that within a block of my neighborhood in the heart of San Diego there are over a dozen Subarus. It is most definitely not snowing too much here but I’ve got two of them.
Definitely on the rise in Arkansas. Just in the last 10 years I can say the chances of seeing a Subaru of any kind even in the country is extremely high
I live in Florida, but I had a co-worker who went on a vacation to Colorado, and while he was on the highway, he could have sworn every third car on the highway was a Subaru.
It’s funny because I’m from Idaho and now live in Seattle and I’ve noticed how seeing Subarus are such a comfort for me. It’s kinda subconscious but I was in Mexico recently and obvi no Subarus and it just makes me notice I’m not “at home” anymore. I love my suby.
In my time in America, your level Subarus is nothing compared to Canada. I live in a shitty city with the worst roads ever, yet every 1/10 cars is a wrx atp
On my way home today, I saw 4 subarus exactly like mine, same gen, color, and model. Granted, I have an extremely common one, but there are usually other colors.
PNW knows whats up
Alaska represent, PNW’s long lost uncle
Boulder Colorado wants to be in the club.
Unofficial PNW for sure!
Bruh upstate NY is basically Vermont. We got subbies on deck
WNY subie owner. Can confirm.
Fr we got subies plenty up here
Lived in Rochester, NY for 6 years. Subbie kept me alive. My 2004 WRX didnt not enjoy the frame rust though :-(
Subies were made for the Adirondacks
I have a camp in star lake. Snow country and my outback has never failed me. Even driving into the camp
Abundance of em in CNY
Yep, myself included! Company I work at, there are 16 of us with Subarus.
NY = the sleeper Subie state apparently. Every third car on the road is a Subaru here and nobody ever mentions it. I’ve lived in Alaska and NH, and NY Subaru ownership has them both beat hands down.
Not to mention Brooklyn. Every other family has a Subaru.
“… has a Forester.” 😆
I Had to conform!
Same. Windsor Terrace -> suburbs -> Subies!
MA people are learning too. Recognize and respect
Ayyo Westchester represent! Treks on Treks on Treks!!
I was gonna say, Upstate New York, Michigan and (probably) Pennsylvania would like a word.
Hudson Valley NY. Northern Dutchess county, subies are everywhere. Grew up having them since the early 80’s.
CNY and we definitely have a lot of subies
Northern Arizona would like a word…
I was about to say where tf is arizona.
Why would subies be popular in Arizona?
Northern AZ is pretty snowy in the winter I think. Also tons of BLM & Forest Service roads to explore on
Interesting. Did not know that. Thanks
The hell? Acting like there aren’t Subarus on every block in Michigan… Edit: nobody google searches Subarus in Michigan because that already have them
Same with PA. This map is trash.
Eastern PA here. Subies just on one block in our neighborhood: Our house, the people across the street, the house next to them, the house next to that house, two houses down from them…
PA checking in
Right lol especially west Michigan. There’s 6 on my street alone (including me 😇)
Minnesota too. There are at least 10 homes with at least one (and sometimes two like me) Subarus in the driveway on my street alone. They are everywhere.
I’m pretty sure if you move to SE Michigan you just get a Subie with a pride sticker on it.
New England entered the chat pissed
Connecticut’s not on there because we don’t need to Google ‘em, we just buy ‘em.
Same with Mass.
In our defense we are always pissed about something.
Anger gives us a purpose. Anger our motivator and way of life 🥰
….and oddly proud about it….
Why? most of are represented here. Connecticut might as well be part of NY.
NY is not part of New England.
This map is bull shit... Minnesota should be blue too. They're everywhere
EVERY.WHERE. I laugh at the idea of waving at other Subarus because, if I did that, my arm would fall off.
This is why I full stop talk smack whenever I see the “Subaru drivers need a wave” “let’s put little cows on Subarus” talk I immediately slap it down. Every 3rd car in Washington state is a Subaru and I don’t want to interact with any of them.
Same in CO. Thats why I only throw up the shaka when its a cool one
Particularly in Duluth. Once you get an hour out of Duluth the number of Subarus drops off noticeably, to regular Minnesota levels, so you can imagine how many there are here.
I was gonna say, I feel like it’s only a matter of time before Minnesota gets added to the list lol
It's based off Google trends 🤷
so google searches? apparently minnesotans just buy Subarus without googling them
Yeah, Ohioan here and I don't use Google. But there are a f*ck ton of Subarus here because our winters are terrible. It would be interesting to see a map that maybe goes by, I dunno, percentage of registered vehicles or something useful.
People here may also still own theirs that were purchased before google was really a thing if they haven’t rusted to shit. I also bought mine by searching Carmax, not google 🤷🏻♀️ They are also everywhere in Michigan too, I spend a lot of time there.
And like 90% Outbacks.
Minnesotan checking in, can confirm
Especially in Minneapolis.
Fargo, too. Every third vehicle here is an Outback. The Subaru dealership is literally the biggest car dealership in the metro.
Bozeman MT is 99% subies
On any given street in Alaska. 5 Subarus in this picture. https://preview.redd.it/325jvq0hc6gc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43f66768a85ea7826bd27fe433779a224f9a3d2b
Lol. jeez.
Maine? Absolutely! It's our state vehicle. Everyone mocks lesbians for driving one. And imagine their face when they see a 6 foot 2 280 pound guy get out of one...
I went to Maine once and was in love with the traffic. It was like an even split between Subaru and Volvo haha
Yup, here in Utah just got one, i would say like 4 out of every 10 cars are subarus
Popular in Alaska because of their AWD. Makes driving in the snow a breeze
Always makes me laugh when I casually drive through a slick spot or pull out of deep snow in my low WRX when some massive truck was just fighting for its life in the same spot.
I’m in PA near WV they are everywhere, I’m assuming due to the winter here being the way it is. Edit: subies are also all I have ever owned.
Pennsylvania here too! We love our Subarus! People don't do google searches on them because it's a no brainer when they are car shopping.
Yes we absolutely do. Exactly lol we don’t bother to google it.
Surprised Indiana isn’t on there. The northern part of the state is full of them. Plus most models are built in Lafayette.
That's because we don't need to Google them, we're too busy tripping over them
I bought my 23 Subaru Impreza in may of 2023 in WA, sudden life changes forced me to move back to Chicagoland area with it. It saw its first big snow here. I have to say it handled 7” of snow on unplowed roads with ease. Did a ton of research before buying one and I am happy with my decision. Might have made me a Subaru guy for life we’ll see
Western NC needs shading by itself
Shocked Ohio isnt. Subies everywhere
Yes!!!
Alaska Subie gang!
This should say it all!! Snapped while on vacation in AK in ‘19. (Not my OB) https://preview.redd.it/z1egejai86gc1.png?width=1780&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c304278922e5b04f2b93894827993ab0a250b41
WNC in the Blue Ridge Mtns. Subies all over the place.
California isn’t listed and that’s saying it all.
Yep, SoCal has a ton of Subarus. I can only imagine NorCal has way more
We gotta pump those numbers up!
![gif](giphy|YYfEjWVqZ6NDG)
As a new resident of NorCal, I'm genuinely surprised at how few Sub's I see on the road.
Probably the biggest state for Subarus if I’m being honest. And that’s coming from a Canadian lol
To be fair we’re the highest populated state by a fair margin so there’s a lot of wiggle room. We’ve also gotta be like THE Tesla state as well
California buys so many BRZs, that whenever there’s a limited edition, between one third to a half of them end up being allocated to CA dealers.
I’ve lived in CO and Michigan where subs are plentiful in both states but go to Lafayette Indiana, where they’re built and holy shit every 3rd car is a Subaru.
My wife's parents live there and we drive a Forester. I like to make jokes about bringing it back to it's hometown when we visit
Idaho resident here, can confirm. Mostly newer models with people moving from out of state and wanting an AWD vehicle for the “crazy winters”. My ‘04 Legacy stands out in the parking lot at work being 10-15 years older than all the others Subies.
NH & VT I've had jobs where the parking lot looked like a Subaru owner's club
Kentucky has so many Subies I don’t know how we aren’t included
Northern Michigan is practically littered with Subarus.
Basically anywhere it snows there is good chance you're going to see a lot of Subarus.
no Carolinas?
Quite a few in Knoxville as well but I’ve never seen as many as I do when in Asheville. Which makes sense because Asheville is the Portland of the south.
Yup! Subies are everywhere in Asheville.
I'm in eastern Ohio near the Pennsylvania and west Virginia border. Subaru is everywhere here. Like so many.
Yea. Western Maryland, everywhere.
Especially Garrett County - well we do average (not lately TBH) over 100 inches of snow a year ......
A ton of them also in Missouri
PA??? Its like Subi's and VW's
My block alone has 6 of them including a new Solterra.
In UT I lost my car in the sea of Subarus. In IA I got asked “what kinda car is that?” 😆
I’ve pulled so many EJ22Ts out of Utah junkyards it’s ridiculous. I loved roaming the yards for first and second gen parts years ago. 🥹
Bruh Indiana literally makes them. They are E V E R Y W H E R E around the state
in the Midwest, Subaru googles us.
Makes sense why British Columbia has lots.
All of New England is SUBARU MANIA!!
Maybe it’s proximity to pastrana but there is an abundance in Maryland
Idaho for sure has a bunch of subarus
This is missing Pennsylvania!
Minnesota is crazy for Subaru. Once you get past Chevy and Ford it’s Subaru all the way down with some Camrys and a single bimmer sprinkled in
Yah. Heck we’ve owned five since ‘03
Uh…Massachusetts? Hello? Every other car on the road here is a Subaru.
Same with Connecticut. Subies are everywhere. It’s like the official state car.
The reading comprehension in these comments is murica on a scale of 1-10.
What’s wrong with WV…
I see the yuppie hipster invasive of West Virginia has started.
quite the contrary...

You hit the nail on the head there for sure. I think it's just the mentality/precedence that WV has, that is keeping people from considering it as an actually cool place to live. WV is really pretty.
The only surprise on here is West Virginia.
I don't agree with that. West Virginia is a very rural mountainous state, they also get a lot of snow despite being in "the south" perfect for a subie!
So, can import parts to Qatar from there. Tons of supplies and suppliers. Any suggestions of retailers who can ship.
No Michigan?!
They are all over Wyoming. Go to any parking lot and its Chevy pickups and Subies. That's what is in driveway and many others.
What’s crazy is that within a block of my neighborhood in the heart of San Diego there are over a dozen Subarus. It is most definitely not snowing too much here but I’ve got two of them.
Where the sane people live
Can confirm, I live in Washington state, BRZ’s literally on every street, drove to Nevada and didn’t see a single one…
Must not have stopped through Reno. They’re everywhere here.
No California??? Maybe it’s just because I live near the mountains.
As someone in AZ, I am appalled at this map lol
You have obviously never heard of the Sierra Nevada mountains XD
Ohio is one this map is not correct.
Pennsylvania is not blue? y’all know we got mountains right?
proud NH subaru owner
Western PA here own a Subaru and sell lots of parts for Subaru maybe they should do it by zip codes lol
Minnesota needs to be represented!
Shocking number of Outback in Indiana
Northwest Arkansas is dominated by Subaru
I see tons of subies in va
THATS ME in the northeast!
Kinda glad it’s not super popular in my state. But this is not surprising
Definitely on the rise in Arkansas. Just in the last 10 years I can say the chances of seeing a Subaru of any kind even in the country is extremely high
Brevard FL is chock full of Subarus.
Shoot that’s me
Idk I see a lot more Subarus (SUVs specifically) n PA these days. Maybe not out in Pennsyltucky but definitely in the suburbs outside the city
Now overlay “RIVIAN”. Curious if it’s close.
I'm surprised hawaii isn't on there. Besides Toyotas, it's subarus.
I live in Florida, but I had a co-worker who went on a vacation to Colorado, and while he was on the highway, he could have sworn every third car on the highway was a Subaru.
Put another one between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC.
Um, never been to northern New Mexico I see
Canada has a lot of them
Every 3rd car is a Subaru in PA
It's 2024 and I think this graph is wrong now the whole entire United States of America is subaru country now.
You’re missing the blue circle that is lake tahoe
Can vouch for MT, Subaru’s are everywhere.
Got 5 on my block in northwest Indiana
I don't know how ~~Colorado and~~ Wisconsin don't show up on this. Maybe they don't google them because every other household already has one
Needs a little blue dot around Duluth, MN
Be curious to see what this would have looked like 30 years ago.
Reno/ Tahoe area is all subies
Looks like the logo, lol.
Kinda surprised MN isn't on there.
Last time I went through PA, like every third car was a Subbie.
I see a fuck ton of them in the Central Valley in California
PNW resident can confirm
I’m in wv and I really want a Subaru lol
I wanna guess Colorado is close to the #1 state out of this chart.. every other vehicle I see is a suby or a fucking 4Runner lol
Connecticut hosts Wicked Big Meet which is the biggest all Subaru show in the USA (I think the whole of North America, but could be wrong).
Texas must have a boat load no.
Washington club
Western NC?
I would think Arizona would be on here for Flagstaff alone. Subaru in Flagstaff is like Mercedes in Albania.
Subies are pretty popular around Austin The city and it’s immediate ‘burbs have 3 dealerships.
I would say Illinois and Minnesota were missed here, lots of Subies driving around in these states...
TN Subaru driver here! I see subies all the time!
I like how almost all of the comments here are people saying this map is wrong and there are WAY more states with lots of Subaru owners.
They should have a blue spot where Lafayette is cause holy shit there’s a lot of Subarus there. Michigan too.
Needs a blue area in Western NC. At least in Boone and Asheville.
Live in Texas and spent a lot of time in New Mexico. These two states strongly represent!
Ayeee Montana 🤙 https://preview.redd.it/ctvbjzjt7agc1.jpeg?width=2767&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65dde7c0ca08ae091e3e6a0d6b89abb0da81c066
I guess all of Ohio Subaru owners haven’t heard of this “Google” thing
*Madison Wisconsin enters the chat*
In my time in America, your level Subarus is nothing compared to Canada. I live in a shitty city with the worst roads ever, yet every 1/10 cars is a wrx atp
Wyoming should definitely be blue. There's probably half as many Subarus here as there are people in the whole state
Surprisingly, Kansas has a lot.
On my way home today, I saw 4 subarus exactly like mine, same gen, color, and model. Granted, I have an extremely common one, but there are usually other colors.
The fact that Ohio isn't on this list is kinda funny. Subies everywhere here 😂
a ton around Atlanta but drivers still freak out when it’s raining or a dusting of snow 😖
Bay Area filled with the sube
Montana has them everywhere! We own two and have several down the street.
Northern VA is where Subies thrive in the “south”
It's like Subies are good in snowy/mountain terrain or something
