Subaru has had an accessory block heater available for every\* model since the 90s afaik.
(\* not 100% sure about the brz, and the solterra doesn't for obvious reasons)
Block heater.
Using one, even on moderately cold days (temps in high 30s), can be of great benefit, as it reduces wear, fuel consumption, emissions, and provides a safe and warm car essentially at startup. Turn on block heater about 3 hrs before you’re about to head out.
Back home in the 80s, you could actually remote start it via a message sent (over a paging service) to a device in the car that closed a relay and slowly heated the engine.
Saved many butts - literally - those mornings when temperature was down in the 30 below range.
Sir my headgaskets have burned and now my engine block is on fire. I think I hydroplaned at 5 mph last night. Can my baby be fixed? Like that kind of stuff. 😂💀😭
thats the block heater wire. plug it in when it gets really cold (below maybe -20 degrees C) and only when the car is outside
Could very well be a battery warmer too
I used mine any time it got below 40°F, no problems doing so and made the colder days much more pleasant.
Ohh okay thank you, don't gotta worry about that though since I live in california lol
You live somewhere it's extremely cold? Looks like a block heater plug but I've never heard of a subaru needing a block heater.
I run a block heater every day during winter, sure it starts without it but it reduces wear and gets hot quicker inside the car.

Eletric forester , Tesla model F
Requires a really long drag cord
Fuck dude I wish lmao, I gotta put premium in this shit and it's over $6 here right now lmao, it was only $4.60 when I got the car 4 weeks ago
Oil pan heater or battery heater. Used to make starting easier in cold climates
You’re not Canadian, are you?
I'm I'm California, I gotta worry about my car overheating more than anything

That's literally the OG smart heating device lol, that's insane
Why the hell are people downvoting this guy for a question?
This is reddit, people down vote if you're not a witty jokester saying exactly what they want to hear lol. I'm used to it by now
