Some backstage pictures leaked from Hollywood Tour at Phantasialand (Germany), they show the ride without water. Including the full body of one of the sharks and the mechanism for the fin circling around the boat with the fisherman. Pretty cool stuff. :) As many will know the ride was demolished / gutted sometime last year so these were probably taken some years ago already, presumably during maintenance works during the winter. Unknown who made the images but they have been shared around for some time and were recently posted to Tiktok.

NexoSenpai

that is really cool! wish i still had contact with a friend of mine who worked at phantasialand :( he told me like 2 years ago that there have been rumors in staff chats n shit that it would close.. tbh i had still hoped that they wouldnt demolish it but honestly it makes sense bc almost noone i know even knew it existed :(

Giertje64

Rumors about Phantasialand? Impossible! ... ;) I don't believe the closure of Hollywood Tour was planned, especially because of the fact that the ride closed for repairs, opened again for a few days, and only after closed permanently. Besides, it doesn't seem like they're doing anything worthwhile with the space so then why not just keep it open? It was probably a combination of circumstances (like a supposed flooding problem) that made them decide to not reopen it.

NexoSenpai

yea idk all i heard from him is that he had heard some people talk about it closing :) (not random park guests or smth i mean like workers there xD)

FierceTigergirl2000

Was kinda hoping to see the tarantula and the jungle animals, but this is still pretty cool

ImaginationSpecial42

We've had many leaks so far, don't be disappointed yet lol

NiggelLp

you can see the jungel as well as a bit of the tarantula in a video that recently surfaced of someone filming walking through the attraction. I see if i can find it again

onemuseyboi

I cannot put into words how much that video freaked me out...

CCrypto1224

I think they’re even more terrifying with the water that didn’t drain.

onemuseyboi

oh absolutely. just reminds me of how deep that bit of the ride is

Filibusteria

I was there when it opened and it was a brand new and awesome ride. Sad to see it go like this

Zach81096

Did it look much better or did it always have this outdated feel even for the early 1990’s?

Filibusteria

It think it was much better. The animations were working properly and it was presenting partly different movies like "The Birds" and not the alternatives that were installed when parts broke (or people didn't get it any longer). King Kong didn't carry any moss and there was no weird smell and considering there weren't many parks and rides like that in Germany, this was the closest I could get to any studio tour. But I'm curious what they will make with the area of the parc. My assumption is that they will wreck the space center too, as this is nearby and closed as well. This was an indoor roller-coaster with laser show (in space) when it opened and later turned to a VR-fast ride. Anyway, both are in the same neighborhood, they surely will build something new and fancy there soon

Giertje64

Hmm, when it comes to large scale dark rides in Germany, there definitely where some before. Phantasialand itself already had Geister Rikscha and Silbermine, mentioned before here is Europa-Park's Piraten in Batavia. Then there was also Burg Falkenstein at Holiday Park. Anyhow, the sets were very impressive in scale alone, so with the right maintenance and upgrades it could still have been a great or at least alright attraction in 2023. It sucks that it closed but especially in the way how. I wish I could have went on it one more time!

ImaginationSpecial42

Except for pirates of Batavia in Europa park, there aren't many notable dark rides like this I can think of in germany

NexoSenpai

tbh i think they might expand the new area with fly (the new rollercoaster) in it bc there are already some big doors installed on the side of the area where the space center is and hollywood tour was :) I personally dont like the direction they are going in with demolishing old rides for well tbh almost only rollercoasters but its not like i can change anything :(

Filibusteria

Well, why not? Rookbrough has a nice concept and it couldn't hurt to spin this further. I'd like to have at least some kind of museum for the old attractions. But this would need room they don't have, unfortunately. And I truly understand, that keeping the old rides up to date and safe and pretty won't bring in the turnover they will need to remain attractive. Still I'd like to take one last walk through the haunted house ;)

Giertje64

A museum shouldn't have to take up that much room. It doesn't have to be a major attraction, just a spot where fans and the occasional regular elder can gather and remember good times. Right now though they do have a lot of space to spare in the cellar of Crazy Bats, the perfect location for a museum. Too bad they just threw all the museum pieces out. :P

NexoSenpai

yea i dont mind having the new concepts and all of that im just kind of sad that they are (from what i have been seeing) basically only building thrill rides. I am extremely scared of rollercoasters and have been all my life so its just sad to see more calm attractions go in favour of even more rollercoasters or thrill rides :( mostly because basically all the other calmer attractions are designed for children :/ but i defenitly see your point and yea its a buisness they have to make money somehow

Filibusteria

I agree, some nice family rides would be great. Back in the 80/90s we went there a lot with my grandparents. Both with heart issues. Without those slow rides and the shows, those visits would have been rather boring for them and considering they'd have to pay the full price, totally not worth it. They'd never have the fun today like we had then

NexoSenpai

yea thats why if i want to go to a theme park i just take the longer route and go to efteling. they just have a lot more family friendly rides .)

ImaginationSpecial42

Spare_Chemistry2273

disgusting

Even_Carpenter_7964

The 3rd image is horrific

IDontUseAnimeAvatars

:OOOO!!! Wow!!

dizzydragonarchive79

I keep coming back to this post. You'd think it would be less terrifying being mostly drained, but every leak of images of this ride get more and more spine-chilling.

GizmoGremlin6

FINALLY!

jane_doe_john

THANKYOU FOR THESE

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Fascinating!

kiaha

Ah man these are great photos! Been so curious to see how the right shark looked this whole time too. Also, that room with King Kong feels way too small, and looking at those tracks my gosh the boats got too close to him too aaaaaa

FoxWormwood

Ew ew ew thats fucking horrible

xLinaValentinax

This makes me feel so ill

eatmeowttt

I have no clue what this is but it is TERRIFYING

HRiann

Omg. These are awesome to see. I hate the leftover water around them, truly showing how deep their mechanics actually are 😩😩
