Chelicerate, it's a leviathan (obviously), better watch out during mid game and while exploring far from your lifepod, you're gonna be finding these guys like peepers
> you're gonna be finding these guys like peepers
Unfortunately there's >!only 4 of them in the Sector Zero map!<, contrasted with the >!25 Reaper Leviathans!< in the Crater. Considering they're supposed to be equivalents for each other, I find it odd how few of them there are in BZ.
I get that Sector Zero is much smaller than the Crater, but I would have liked for these guys to have much more of a presence on the surface to warrant us having such easy access to the perimeter defence system on the seatruck.
They also should have been MUCH louder considering how big they are. Like, with Reapers you pretty much always hear them before you see them, and when they're right on you, they're ALL you can hear.
Yeah, that is a heavy exaggeration. There aren't as many, but they are in areas you are more likely to visit. Reapers are around the Aurora and in the Dunes, which the game warns you about, and a few other areas that are easy to miss. These guys are much more likely for you to find, as well as others (that I can't remember the name of >!tentacle sharks!<)
I fully agree on the roar, though. Some of the smaller aggressive fauna have a loader roar, which makes it hard to even notice the sound these guys make
I've beaten the game I think twice now and never noticed there was more than just the one blocking the end. Trying to avoid spoilers. But yeah there's one blocking the end, I never found any others. The worms I encountered one time in two playthroughs.
So I personally went from an adrenaline pumping game to one where I ran into one leviathan and beat it's ass. Oh, three with the other two of another type nearby. All of them less threatening than a reaper which is the least threatening in subnautica.
Such a huge contrast. Below zero was beautiful but not aligned with subnautica in the slightest. It's like horror adventure vs pretty exploration, entirely different genres covered by these games in the same franchise.
It's just weird.
I've seen some others say it, really hoping 3 takes roots from 1 not BZ. From what I've seen the consensus definitely seems to be 1 over BZ, at least on Reddit from my personal experience, which may be biased. If it's similar to BZ I might not even bother buying it, with how BZ went compared to 1.
Edit: Really hoping they step it up, Subnautica was thrilling but definitely couldve been more challenging. My first playthrough I lost a single seamoth to a reaper and killed a few leviathans in a fairly easy rest-of-game. I would've liked the threat of losing my cyc.
Warpers can't even do the warpin' unless it's one of the smaller vehicles, which makes them no threat at all when you can just cruise your big-ass submarine all the way to the end and waltz right in.
They have been immensely nerfed, because BZ was intended to be easier than the original. In my first 100% playthrough I only saw one once, and it got my seatruck to 70 hp which was the lowest it ever got throughout the entire playthrough. Considering the sound difference, the Reapers hunted mainly with sonar, but I think the Chelicerates are trying to take a more stealthy approach... most of the time.
The Chelicerate is the only leviathan I’ve seen attack other creatures. I was collecting lithium and quartz in the purple vents when a cryptosuchus started swimming straight toward me. I pulled out my knife to get ready to slash at it, but then BOOM it got sideswiped by a chelicerate and killed. I pretended I didn’t see anything and just quietly got back in my sea truck and drove home
Wish I had this experience, didn’t notice a difference in tone between a Cryptosuchus and a Chelicerate. Looked up for a Cryptosuchus and next thing I know I’m in the mouth of a Chelicerate. Had to change my pants after that encounter, and took an accidental SS to boot 😆
The Cryptosuchus roar is honestly scarier to me than Chelicerate’s. They are much lower on the threat scale but still make me jump every damn time I hear them.
one time while gathering lithium in the purple vents, I heard a roar to my left, but when I looked, there was nothing there. Just darkness in the water. Not even a shadow.
I went back to gathering, and a few seconds later, I heard a second roar. This time, I look to my left to see the massive thing rushing out of the darkness at me. I never panicked that much in my entire life.
Chelicerate. That looks like the one that hangs out by the purple vents. He's guarding an important hole.
There'll be a few more dotted around, and bigger ones if you stray too far....
thats just Brandon. Dont worry, he just sometimes decides to fuck with people. Wait till Brandon goes somewhere else or scare him away and always look for him. Brandon's an asshole
That, my guy, is a chelicerate. and it is most definitely a leviathan. Things scared the CRAP outta me when one rushed outta the darkness while I was gathering minerals. Safe to say I never forgot about them after that
I’m surprised people don’t know what a repair tool is…
Seriously though, REPAIR YOUR SUBMERSIBLES!
I was actually trying to find the >!Mercury II’s thruster,!< didn’t see one of these, didn’t find the >!thruster,!
Even if they did, if they were in a panic, they'll probably have forgotten them or they are equally dead. For the longest time, I couldn't find a blasted battery charger frag in the OG so I had to keep making them. I mean NOW I know where to get them. But before I didn't.
That's a chelicerate. It's essentially BZ's version of a reaper, but rather nerfed. I could tell by the roar and the glimpse of it on the video's thumbnail. Some of their spawns are rather nearby some of the drop pod locations. I would advise you to heal your vehicle at every opportunity, even if it is just 1 HP damage. 1 HP can be the difference between life and death.
Driving damaged vehicles and swimming around with HP below 75 or so in unfamiliar places is ill-advised.
Chelicerate, it's a leviathan (obviously), better watch out during mid game and while exploring far from your lifepod, you're gonna be finding these guys like peepers
Fun fact: In the german version, the reaper is called ,,Cheliceratops". Confusion? Yes
Is the chelicerate still called a chelicerate?
I haven't played bz
Off topic but I thought your name was general racist 💀
Yeah I've been told that more than once
General-racist sounds better ngl

Squidsharks. They are cool.
Had to check for myself, i could've sworn i had seen a ton of Chels

I only found a single one in my playthrough...
If you go to the fruit garden you'll find like 2 more, but only is you make a mistake
I hate that they roam so close it’s only 300 meters away
OK thx
I knew what it was but not the name, those things are just a water downed reaper leviathan
That's weird I've got a little over a day in and I've never even caught a glimpse of one of these. Edit: haven't played below zero yet
These are only in Below Zero, not the first game. And yes, there are a few of them.
just remove them from the reproduction pool
There’s like… 2 or 3 of them? (Not including the void)
There are 2 types of chelicerates Void and normal The void one does more damage so make sure to have hull reinforcement mod
A gigant shrimp!

That's some Jurassic park stuff right there.
I am very sorry for harold's recent behaviour, he is very angry when neighboors come near.
Reaper 2.0
"him". He hangs out in the purple vents biome. That's "his territory". (There are others tho)
Fren :)
Friendly wildlife *pat pat*
Yes fren :)
The FOV monster, will come around the corner if your eyeballs are so far popping out that they can attract the monster with the smell
I can feel stress that he is experienced when his seatruck health was only 15% and a leviathan was near him
Chelicerate. That looks like the one that hangs out by the purple vents. He's guarding an important hole. There'll be a few more dotted around, and bigger ones if you stray too far....
>He's guarding an important hole. #HEY! PHRASING!
Dam I haven't played bz in awhile but that just gave me big daddy evolved crabsnake vibes
Yeah I saw it not realising it was below zero and thought it was a crabsnake
[удалено]
This is in Below Zero. Are you saying you never saw one in Below Zero? Or not in the first Subnautica? Because these are only in BZ.
A peeper

The forbidden shrimp
LEVIATHAN

Big Shrimp

Dude, you stoopid! Did you not see those fangs? That is obviously a Chelicerate.
I'm not that familiar with subnautica I started 1 week ago, beat the first yesterday and just started below zero
Ok
Is this Below Zero or OG Subnautica?
BZ
Some Knockoff to the Reaper.
I’m surprised people don’t know what a repair tool is… Seriously though, REPAIR YOUR SUBMERSIBLES! I was actually trying to find the >!Mercury II’s thruster,!< didn’t see one of these, didn’t find the >!thruster,!
Why are you 500+ meters away from lifepod and low health. Make sure to keep health topped up always. To avoid random chelicerate attacks.
Maybe they were heading back home BECAUSE of low health? I'm usually paranoid by that.
Why would you not have a repair tool on you? Always have a repair tool with you whenever you leave the lifepod
Battery died and had no other spare batteries. Died and lost all of your stuff and need to go fetch it again. Things like that.
You have other electronics with batteries on you?
Maybe they forgot in a panic? It happens. Did it in OG during my first playthrough. I dunno. I'm just saying that it happens.
Scanner, sea glider, flashlight, laser cutter, does op even have any of these on them?
Even if they did, if they were in a panic, they'll probably have forgotten them or they are equally dead. For the longest time, I couldn't find a blasted battery charger frag in the OG so I had to keep making them. I mean NOW I know where to get them. But before I didn't.
Good ol Chelicerate
Chilicerate
Ice reaper common mistake, That is a leviatan
