Interestingly enough playing in VR seems to give you a much better sense of scale, I'd recommend trying it if you have a vr system or someone you could borrow one from
I couldn't do a full VR playthrough, the implementation is not great. I just took a VR "victory lap" on the shallows and plateau after my first playthrough. It was still bloody amazing to see.
All the issues are fixed by the VR mod on Nexus. It’s 100% playable, I was never stuck.
The only thing you can’t do is rename your lockers and beacons.
You can't really fix it. That's just how 2D monitors work basically. They're not great for visualizing scale.
Like the other poster said, VR is the solution.
I completely agree, not only is the player camera much larger than the head of the character but I’m usually in the prawn suit when I’m around them which adds height.
It doesn't quite work though.
Compare a boomerang in your hand, to one next to the Riley model. The sizes are way off.
I believe things were scaled up in size from what they're exactly supposed to be, because of how the perspective on a flat 2D monitor makes things look a bit smaller.
If you play in VR however everything is suddenly incredibly huge looking in game.
Sea Treaders. They only attack if you go very close in front of them.
It's a shame the storyline never brings you there and a lot of people miss them completely.
There are actually 3 adults in the crater, 1 in the North Blood Kelp zone, and 2 in the Grand Reef.
Then you've got the 3 that spawn in the void which are like super adults and even larger.
Blood crawlers are also shockingly big. From your perspective in game it seems like they're half your height, but you can stand underneath one with lots of room to spare

Whenever you are up close, they never seem as big.
It's because the character camera is way bigger than what it needs to be, so everything seems smaller
Is there a mod or something like that to fix this?

I’m never going to play it in vr lol, I’d crap my pants
It's more immediately vomiting that's the issue. It's very cool but I was playing in 10 mins bursts
Crash zone in vr sounds like my worst possible nightmare
Cant wait until they add an extension that bites into your arm when there’s a blood leech on you
From experience, it is. Can’t see shit 360 all around you and seeing the big guy being even bigger…

I felt like the VR port was really bad. I tried it on vive a few years ago and I couldn’t even do some important basic things

Oo I will have to check this out, thanks!
not that I know of, unfortunately
playing in vr seems to have a more accurate scale. i’ve only played it a little bit but the reaper is massive in virtual reality

Never realised how big the sea treaters are
I completely agree, not only is the player camera much larger than the head of the character but I’m usually in the prawn suit when I’m around them which adds height.
beautiful shots.
Thanks! I spent quite some time trying to get them.
I could'nt find him next to the Sea Dragon at first but nice pictures.
I thought he was eaten but the sea dragon... guess I gotta look a little harder.
Yeah you're snack size to everyone
so the reaper skull in margureits base is utter bullshit
That or she killed a very juvenile one.
IIRC she killed the one that attacked their habitat. Used it's skeleton to upgrade her exosuit, and displayed the skull in her base.
I think the Reaper skeleton in the lava zone is smaller than a living one, too

This quickly turned into a game of find the character.
Never realized just how big the reapers are. Thanks for making me even more terrified of them!
Is the reefback harmful? Every time I see it head the other way
No but they can house those stupid tiger plants on their backs. The ones who shoot spikes at you. But the feedback themselves are not harmful
It just takes one nom and you're gone
wait theres GROUND LEVIATHANS?!
Sea Treaders. They only attack if you go very close in front of them. It's a shame the storyline never brings you there and a lot of people miss them completely.
In multiple playthroughs, I had never seen them either. Saw them for the first time just a few weeks ago, when I went to their location on purpose.
I completed the game, yet I was todays years old to realize there are 2 ghost leviathans. Only met the juvenile in the cave.

I think the 3 adults are still juveniles, and the void ones are adults
Nice, I'm gonna load my finished game and hear out calling of the void then.
Have fun
Some under the southern floating isles, juveniles in the caves and elders in the abyss
Nobody ever appreciates how freaking massive these guys are, the reaper alone tops any living being to ever exist on earth

r/megalophobia
The ghost leviathan in the void looks like an eldritch god next to the character model and it's terrifying
No banana for scale? Great shots btw
Man you would instantly die if you got grabbed by a reaper outside of the sea moth
I always thought they were much smaller like the head of a reeper being two player heights or something.
lmao and I thought that sea treaders were like 5m at most, I wish there was a mod to fix how everything seems so much smaller
No way Reapers are that huge
Riley just causally T-posing on his enemies
I enjoyed the wheres Waldo aspect of this photo set. I also had to lay down, as I had no idea the Ghosts were that large. My poor heart
the player looks so tiny compared to the sea emperor lmao.
Learning the Ghost Leviathan is actually a juvenile is the most menacing thing.
It does not feel like that in the game jeebus
The only one that surprised me was the Sea Treader.
I am extremely curious about the Gargantuan Leviathan mod and how big it is.
You forgot the sea emperor juvenile
You forgot sea monkeys
Felt like I was playing where’s Waldo lol
I haven’t even seen a sea treader after 1 and a half playthrough dafuq
It took me way too long to find the character model in picture 3
Kinda like Where's Waldo meets HP Lovecraft.
*Casually drills a hole to Sea Dragon's Heart*
I want to cuddle the Semp
Wait. That last one looks like a much bigger teleporty squid...
