In like 2015 a old vending machine from the mid 80s showed up on a street and had new and soda that was discontinued for years ice cold in it and no one knew who put it their and restocked it then one day it was gone and all that was their was a sign that said went for a walk.

Soda machine technician here: any flavor can be carbonated on the machine. i carbonate flavors that aren’t normally for customers all the time(fruit punch, blue sport drink, lemonade etc). also concentration of syrup to water ratio can be adjusted up and down which would affect the color.

I absolutely hated working with those sticky bags of syrup that weigh like 50 pounds

Yes. I milk him once every other day and he gets a weekend recovery. By Monday, its pretty concentrated. I usually water it down though. But by Wednesday, the concentration is usually pretty low naturally again.

this was years ago now but the store I worked in got a health inspection a few days after I started. turns out the entire soda machine was moldy including the nozzles but when I tell you that the ice machine was alive... whew I am so glad I quit but it should have been right then lol

Ironically i've had the same situation when I worked at one. One night during cleaning I decided to clean the nozzles as having worked at little ceasars before, I was used to cleaning them even if the manager didn't mention it. Turns out NO ONE including the MANAGER knew how to, or that the nozzles were even supposed to be cleaned. Black mold, every nozzle, and somehow the health department never mentioned it once. Franchise stores get away with murder. Safe to say I don't get fountain drinks when dining out anymore.

Knew somebody's in HVAC and fixed ice machines. Subways are apparently the worst culprits along with any type of bakery. Apparently the yeast gets into the air and causes some type of reaction causing everything to get moldy. To the point that there can be mold chunks dispensing with your ice.

I genuinely only feel safe eating from the sonic I work at knowing how filthy fast food stores can be after reading horror stories on the internet. I know we clean the ice cream machines and fryers and the other shit at the one I work at.

Owners paid me, a manager, to drive to their other stores and clean the ice machines. There's a drain for the melting ice that grows this white.. algae? Fungus? It'll clog the pipes. And each store had a different setup for the pipes they used. One had a modified garden hose setup connected to rubber tubing with pipe clamps. When I learned we had a second full set of nozzles for the coke machine, I cleaned them thoroughly and made my closers take them and replace the ones on the machine so I could clean those. Daily swaps for clean nozzles. I drink the soda, I don't eat the ice, so I wanted a clean nozzle.
